Polkadoodle Challenge 48 - It's A Sketch!

There is a new Polkadoodle challenge and this week there is a sketch to play with!  For all the details, pop over to Polkadoodles.  I changed the star element and decoupaged the cute bear from A Sundae of Seasons:

The sentiment ticket is from A Home For Christmas and I've used my fab Memory Box die to create the top and side snowflake border.  Ribbon is from my stash along with the three pearlescent stars.  Stickles around the edges of the card and ticket and the card is complete!

Good luck with the challenge!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Polkadoodle Challenge 40 - Autumn

It's time for a new Polkadoodle challenge!  And the theme for the week is appropriate to the time of year:

Autumn

I made a little scene with a tiny canvas and I've used one of the main pre-coloured images from Bonbon Belles along with some toadstools from Sundae of Seasons.  I coloured the canvas with Promarkers before I added all the elements

I printed the toadstool sheet to a quarter of the normal size so that they would be small enough for the scene.  The bunting is made with two cocktail sticks and I coloured some offcuts of card with Promarkers to match.  I've added some stickles here and there and liquid pearls on the toadstools.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

4 Crafty Chicks:  Fall / Autumn

Living The Life

All is good and quite mellow in the life of Beach Bum Bob.  He worked hard for a living selling all manner of household appliances at his family owned firm - Bomit - the well known electrical retailer - but just could not get to grips with the new fangled technology age and decided to call it quits.

He now revels in the beach life and he can be found wandering around the beach huts sipping a strictly non alcoholic cocktail authentically served from half a coconut.

The only hint of his highly successful career is his penchant for the highly sought after Christian Louboutin sandals.  Treat yourself to Beach Bum Bob - only £2.  A darn site cheaper than the sandals.  And Bob will probably be in fashion longer too.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Creative Card Crew:  No Designer Paper
Use It Tuesday:  Bring On The Sunshine (I've had the 'sand' paper for around 4 years and had the beach huts already cut out from a project last year)
365 Day Cards: Day 182 - I'm Torn

Polkadoodle Challenge 41 - Halloween

Welcome to another Polkadoodles challenge!  It's a great theme this week:

Halloween

And I've made these little sweet pouches.  Papers are from the Polly Witchydoodles download and I've simply cut out two oblong strips from one sheet of A4 card (printed on both sides) and then used my X Cut star die to cut out the front.

I've tied the top with string and added the cut out star as a tag along with one of the images from Sundae of Seasons cd.  Pretty quick and easy to make!  I've added jelly fangs in the cello bag inside the pouch.  And yes, they have already been eaten!

Good luck with the challenge - for more details pop over to the challenge blog!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Polkadoodle Is Three!!!

It's Polkadoodles Third Birthday!! And to celebrate the Design Team have made Birthday cards with an element of three - three papers, three brads - you get the picture!  And if that is not enough, there is a special post on the Polkadoodle blog with a special challenge and you could win a totally fantastic prize!  You'll have to go to the challenge blog to find out more!

I've made a cute and very pink card with three different papers from Sugar Plum Daisy and an image from Sundae of Seasons.  The balloons, letters and numbers are all dies and I've added glossy accents over the number 3.  I've added bakers twine for the balloon strings and three tiny pearls.

Although you can't see it, I've added fake stitching around the edge of the card and dotted a fine black line around the bunting and the balloons.

The card is for my niece Niamh who is three in November - I'll probably have forgotten by then that I've already made a card for her!

Don't forget to enter the challenge to be in with a chance of winning!!  It's an extra challenge to our usual Friday ones.  Good luck!

Polkadoodle Challenge 19 - Monochromatic

It's time for another Polkadoodle challenge and the theme for this week is

Monochromatic

So just shades of one colour, although flesh tones can be added!

I've made a Christmas card!  Papers are from Sundae of Seasons and I've distressed the edges with a pair of scissors.

I've used two Marianne Creatables dies - the snowflakes (LR0125) which I have cut from vellum, and also the hanging icicles (LR0135). Two half pearls and some liquid pearls for detail and the card is complete!  And the icicles die I also use for grass too!

Good luck with the challenge and for more details pop over to the challenge blog.

Polkadoodle Challenge 11 - Animals or Birds

It's time for another Polkadoodle challenge and I hope I can be forgiven for not quite reading the theme brief properly! The theme is:

Animals or Birds

And I've classed the butterfly as an animal...... I think I had winged things in my head as my interpretation of a bird.....!

I've used the fab Sundae of Seasons cd for the butterfly image and the backing paper. I printed the butterfly a few times onto vellum and cut them out, layering up with foam pads on the body bit. I found some rather fab satin edged organza ribbon which matched the colour scheme perfectly.

Good luck with the challenge - for more details pop over to the blog and you can see the rest of the Design Teams fab creations!

Polkadoodle Challenge 3 - Sketch

It's Friday so can only mean another Polkadoodle challenge! Nikky has set the challenge this week and given a sketch to use:

I saw a round card straight away and came up with this! I'll be honest and say that I cannot remember for the life of me which cd the paper is from but the butterflies are from Sundae of Seasons and I've added wire for antennae. Some bold doodling around the edges and I added the ribbon ruffles. I've used foam tape underneath and its really good sticky stuff too - I think it is actually DIY tape as I bought it for 10p a roll from Tesco in the summer sale!

For more details on how to enter please pop over to the challenge blog - good luck!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Fab n Funky: BINGO - Handmade Embellishment (ribbon ruffle) / Flourishes (on the Butterflies) / Butterfly

Polkadoodle Challenge 45 - Autumn Leaves

Welcome to another Polkadoodle challenge! I think autumn is on its way only because we keep finding HUGE spiders that scuttle away really quickly in our house!! Its a sign that its getting colder outside. So to honour the theme (not the spiders!) the challenge this week is:

Autumn Leaves

I've cut out lots of leaves from Sundae of Seasons whilst watching The Da Vinci code (its a long film!) and added them onto two Nestie cut circles, layering and overlaping them as I went along - they are there you just can't really see them! The top layer has been added with foam pads for extra dimension.

I was going to add a sentiment but I didn't have one small enough as the wreath ended up being bigger than I anticipated!

Good luck with the challenge - its open until Sunday 11 September.

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Craft Us Crazy: Autumn Colours
Creative Inspiration Paints: Lots of Layers
Robyns Fetish Challenges: Nature

  • All elements: Polkadoodles - Sundae of Seasons

Polkadoodle Challenge 34 - Spots & Dots

Welcome to another Polkadoodle challenge! As its the last Friday of the month the Design Team get to raid their stamp box and to use one of their favourite stamps along with Polkadoodle papers and elements. The challenge theme is:

Spots and Dots

I've used various Polkadoodle papers mainly from Sundae of Seasons along with some buttons from my stash, button twine from The Ribbon Girl and a wonderful digi image from Jellypark. The image has been coloured with Aquamarkers and then layered onto a sentiment backer from Sundae of Seasons.

Good luck with the challenge! It is open until Sunday 4 September at 12noon GMT.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Polkadoodles Challenge 28 - Summer

Welcome to another Polkadoodles challenge! Already we are upto week 28 which means we are getting closer to Christmas! But this week the challenge is all about summer!

I've made two sets of simple notecards with summery images! Both sets use the Sundae of Season's cd and I used the cropping tool on Adobe to select the area I wanted to print. And then repeated the image onto a sheet of A4 card so I could cut it all out as one. The beach huts fit 3 to a sheet of A4 and the kits 4 to the same sized sheet. The trickiest bit was doing the measuring to make sure that all the cards were the same size!

I've doodled a line around the edges of each card and used buttons from my stash. The button twine is from The Ribbon Girl.
I had a great time choosing which buttons to go with each set! The kites show off three of the colours in the kite with the beach huts going for a pearlescent or white button.

Good luck with the challenge - closing date is Sunday 24 July at 12noon GMT and please remember our rules!

My cards fit the following challenges:

Crafts and Me: Summertime
Divas By Design: Pastels (beach huts)
Papertake Weekly: Hot colours (kites)
Party Time Tuesday's: Blue Skies and Sunny Days
  • All images: Sundae of Seasons cd
  • Button Twine: The Ribbon Girl
  • Everything else: My stash

Half Price Mice!

Oh yes! Another Christmas card! At this rate I'll be in full summer bloom by mid November! I bought some really cute chipboard stickers for half half price (half price then got another 50% knocked off at the till!) in the January sales along with a paper pack. I'm not usually a big fan of cutesy Christmas animal stickers or chipboard but I liked the look of these. And the price!

Although you can't see it, there are glittery elements!

All the papers with exception to the red and white gingham are from the Peppers Christmas Party 6x6 paper stack; the gingham is from Sundae of Seasons from Polkadoodles. The ribbon and buttons are all from my stash and the button twine is from The Ribbon Girl.

This card fits the following challenges:

Bah Humbug: Mice
Christmas Challenges with Sketches: Sketch
Happileigh Scrappin': Critters
KB Cute Monday: Something Cute

  • Papers: Trimcraft, Peppers Christmas Party 6x6 papers; Red Check - Polkadoodles, Sundae of Seasons

Polkadoodle Challenge 27 - Safmat & Letratac

Welcome to another Polkadoodle challenge! Some of the Design Team were lucky enough to be sent samples from Letraset of Safmat and Letratac so we've used these this week to show you just how versatile they are!

The challenge to you is to use stickers or transfers on your project this week but if you have Safmat or Letratac then we want to see those too!

I've created two seed packet pouches created from a template on Sundae of Seasons. I've raided my acetate stash to make them - both have been made from one sheet of A4 so that gives you an idea of size. They were really easy to make and I've secured the larger two flaps at the back with a brad, so you can still add items without undoing it. The seed tags are also from the same cd.

I've used Safmat to create the flower images and also the gingham 'ribbon' around the bottom of the packet - all images are also from Sundae of Seasons. Safmat is really easy to use - simply use it like a sheet of card - add all your images or text and then print at a high quality setting. All you then need to do is cut round your item, peel off the backing paper and then stick where required! And the result is that the product is virtually invisible! It's like making your own transfers!

I've added some garden twine for texture. The packet inside is full of sweet pea seeds - these are my most favourite flowers and I had a few good years of huge flowers which were very fragrant, so hopefully, the ones I've planted this year will be the same!

Hope you can join in with the challenge this week - it runs until Sunday 17 July at 12noon GMT.

I'd like to enter my seed packets into the following challenges:

Charisma Cardz: All About Flowers
Little Miss Muffet: Anything But A Card
Creative Craft Challenges: Pretty Blossoms

  • Images: Sundae of Seasons
  • Template: Sundae of Seasons

The sketch that we are asking you to follow is: You can rotate it, flip it, resize it and add embellishments or a sentiment where ever you want, just as long as we can see the elements of the sketch.

For my examples - I've made some teacher thank you cards for Samuel's teachers (how organised am I?!) and I've used elements and papers from Sundae of Seasons from Polkadoodles. These are quite small cards and all are from one sheet of A4 card. I've doodled a faux stiched line around the edge of the card and layers.

The little apple I have decoupaged and added glossy accents to the pips. The little dots are made with 3d Anita's paint and the 'string' is plastic - a bit like the strawberry lace sweets!

Good luck with the challenge - for more details please visit the challenge blog and enter your creation via the blue frog. Closing date for entries is 12noon GMT on Sunday 10 July and the two winners will be announced on Monday 18 July. Polkadoodle Challenge 24 - Thing That Flutter

Welcome to another Friday and a Polkadoodle challenge! The winner of the Polkadoodle blog candy that I had on offer from challenge 21 and the blog hop is:

Congratulations! Please email me (address is in the sidebar) with your full postal details and I will get the cd off to you!

Right, onto this week! Our challenge is Things That Flutter. I've used the lovely dragonflies from Sundae of Seasons cd. I printed them off in A5 size and twice so I could layer them up. The edges of the wings and the end of the body have had the glitter treatment and I've added the antenna with wire and seed beads.

I've added some tiny magnets to the reverse and I've actually pinched them from the front of our freezer door so if Jacob ever finds out I'll be in trouble! The dragonflies actually live on my once rather posh container of very special chocolate powder which is now full of all my buttons!

Good luck with the challenge - its open until Sunday 26 June at 12noon GMT.

And if you've not already popped over to the Fetch A Sketch pre launch party - please do so! Some candy on offer to two lucky commenter's plus some extra prizes along the way! The Fetch A Sketch challenges launch on Monday 27 June at 9am!

Pretty Holly

I don't know why I don't stamp this wonderful image from Charmed Cards and Crafts more often as it is so lovely to colour! I've coloured her with Promarkers plus some stickles.

The paper is from Polkadoodles - Sundae of Seasons cd and I've used two of my Nesties dies to create the frame that she is sat on. A bit of faux stitching around the edges plus I've added some thin green satin ribbon and tied it in a bow over the top of the frame.

This fits the following challenges:

Sparkles Christmas Challenge: Holly or Ivy
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge: Use Ribbon
Allsorts: Things With Wings
Crafty Purple Frog Challenge: Things of Beauty

  • Image: Charmed Cards and Crafts, coloured with Promarkers and Stickles

Polkadoodle Challenge 19 - Menu Recipe!

Welcome to another Polkadoodle challenge - slightly messed up due to Blogger problems over the last 36 hours, but hey! We're still here!

This week Colette has set the challenge and it is a menu recipe!

Colour: Pink or Turquoise
Image: Fairy or Butterfly
Embellishment 1: Ribbon or Lace
Embellishment 2: Pearls or Gems
So you have to pick your colour, the image and one each from the embellishment list.

I've gone for clean and simple and used four butterflies printed from Sundae of Seasons onto vellum, layered up with foam pads. I've added some gems to the body for extra sparkle.

The ribbon is Tempting Turquoise from Stampin' Up and I've used a Martha Stewart punch for the detail.

And you can see all the layers here - I did curl the vellum a little before I added it to the card but as I'd used a ribbed vellum it was a bit more resistant!

Good luck with the challenge - it is open until Sunday 22 May at 12noon GMT and please remember our rules!

  • Butterfly: Sundae of Seasons cd
  • Ribbon: Stampin' Up
  • Punches: Martha Stewart

Dragon Racing

The challenge this week on Dustin Pike's Doodle Dragon studios is to use the freebie image posted a few weeks ago. How lovely and easy!!

So here is Dudley and his power wheels! I've coloured him with Promarkers and I've used some thick white card (same as the card stock) to print on and the colours slightly bleed a little, which, I do actually quite like!

The papers are from Polkadoodles Sundae of Seasons cd and I've done a bit of doodling around the edges. The buttons are from my stash and I no matter how hard I tried I could not thread the string through the holes of the green buttons, so the bow is glued on - cheating, I know!

Dustin has a special digi freebie set on offer to raise a smile for a very good cause - click here for the post link. I've sent my card off to Dustin, and with a bit of luck it will get there pretty soon!

Dude Time Doodles Challenge 13 - Free Sketch & Theme

Welcome to another Dude Time Doodles challenge! The first Wednesday in the month is a sketch challenge, but this is one with a twist! You can pick your own sketch but you need to include a flower (or two) and it needs to be a masculine card!

This challenge is sponsored by Raindrop Echo Designs who produce the most wonderful sentiments and offer freebies too! As part of the Dude Time Doodles Design Team I got the chance to pick a sentiment set to use with my Dude!

I've used the Amongst the Stars set (one sentiment has been used on my card) alongside Gary Giftbearer who I've coloured with Promarkers. I am rapidly becoming a big fan of Ann's work as I always struggle with sentiments!

I've kept printed papers (Sundae of Seasons from Polkadoodles) to a minimum as I liked the look of the dark card which I've doodled a white gel line around the edge. The charm is from a really naff 'silver' necklace I bought from the Poundshop a few weeks ago for £1 which I intended to break up and use all the charms on it! The string is also from the Poundshop (3 balls for £1!)

I've dotted a blue gel line around the sentiment (cut with a Nestie) and the image (drew round the Nesties for this one!) and that's it!

Hope you can join in with the challenge this week - for more details and how to enter, click HERE! Good luck!

  • Image: Gary Giftbearer, coloured with Promarkers
  • Papers: Sundae of Seasons from Polkadoodles
  • Charm: From a necklace from the Poundshop
  • Dies: Spellbinder Nestabilities (and used one as a template to draw around)
  • String: Poundshop

Funky Dino

Just a little simple card for the Passion for Promarkers challenge - its been a while since I last joined in but I found this cute dino when looking through all the digi images I had already printed. The theme for the challenge is:

Prehistoric

The image is Dustin Pike and I've coloured it with Promarkers. The tartan type paper is Polkadoodles and from Sundae of Seasons cd, the other two are Funky Hand and from Craft The Year Away cd.

I've inked the edges, cornered them and dotted a fine black line around the edges. The string and button are from my stash.
