Simply Create Challenge 53 - Older Than 6 Months

It's time for another Simply Create Challenge and the theme this fortnight is:

Older than 6 Months

So dig out those old stamps, digi stamps and papers and get cracking! For more details on how to enter pop over to the challenge blog.

I've used a digi stamp from last year by Lee Jacobs which I bought from CraftsUPrint. It's been coloured with Promarkers and glitter glue and the spotty paper is from Polkadoodles - Paper Boutique Vol 2.

A bit of faux stitching and I was advised by Jacob that he liked the red stretchy ribbon so that got used plus I've had it for about 2 years! Sentiment is a Studio G acrylic stamp.

Good luck with the challenge!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Cardmad Fairy's Digi Challenge: Too Early For Christmas?
Craft Room Challenge: Anything Christmas

  • Papers: Polkadoodles Paper Boutique Vol 2
  • Image: Lee Jacobs, coloured with Promarkers and glitter glue
  • Sentiment: Studio G
  • Everything else: My stash

Polkadoodle Challenge 39 - Birthday Ages

Welcome to another Polkadoodle challenge! This week, Colette is our hostess and she has set the challenge of:

Birthday Card with an Age

So I've made this cutie from the A5 pre coloured template from Paper Boutique Vol 3, all layered up with foam pads and I've added wobbly eyes to the bear and organza and satin ribbon bows to the gift.
The die cut number has been coloured with Promarkers and I found it in my stash with some other die cuts - probably an ebay purchase from a long time ago!

Good luck with the challenge - it is open until Sunday 9 October at 12noon.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday: Animal Crackers
The House That Stamps Built: Animals
Celebrate the Occasion: Ribbon
Deep Ocean Challenge: Happy Birthday
Cupcake Craft: Teddy Bear

  • All Paperbased items: Paper Boutique Vol 3
  • Everything else: My stash

Racing Car

A card for one of Jacob's friends who is 6 on Saturday. The image is from Wags n Whiskers and I've coloured it with Promarkers. All the papers are from my stash and I dread to think how long I've had the checkered paper as it was right at the bottom of the large shoe box I keep all my offcuts in!

I've handcut the stars from some plain red card and the number 6 has been coloured with Promarkers and is from my stash.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Tuesday Morning Sketches: Sketch
Cards for Men: Sports
Ruby's Rainbow: For The Boys
Passion For Promarkers: Planes, Trains and Automobiles

  • All papers: From my stash
  • Image: Wags n Whiskers, coloured with Promarkers
  • Everything else: My stash

R is for Rudolph

I know we are in the middle of a mini heatwave but Christmas really is not that far off and I've got to step it up a bit if I'm going to reach my new target of 150 cards by late November!

I always enjoy colouring this image from Lee Jacobs, bought from CraftsUPrint and coloured with Promarkers. I've added glitter glue to Santa's suit too.

The papers are DCWV - Christmas Wishes 6x6 stack that I've had a fair while and keep forgetting to use! The silver snowflake originally came from Matalan and I've not got many left - I should have bought all that I could see as they are great and easy to use!

The red ribbon was intended for the dangly bits on a rosette and I got a bag of them from the Scrap Store ages ago and have such good intentions of using them!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

The Paper Players: Sketch
Craft Room Challenge: Anything Christmas
Crazy Amigo: Letter R (Rudolph)

  • Papers: Christmas Wishes 6x6 stack from DCWV
  • Image: Lee Jacobs, coloured with Promarkers
  • Everything else: My stash

As a reminder, here is our sketch:And here is my little extra! I've used papers from Pretty Sweet and distressed the edges of the backing with my scissors and added some black ink. I've made the bunting by snipping a square of four from one of the patterned sheets and hanging it over the embroidery thread line!

The embroidery thread is a recent find at the scrap store plus the other ribbon is from my stash along with the brads with the heart bead was a donation from Lynsey!

Pretty Sweet!

There is a new Polkadoodle mini cd out and its called Pretty Sweet and to be quite honest, it really is pretty sweet! This card has been made with papers and image from the cd - I've coloured the image with Promarkers to match the lilac theme and added some black inking around the edges and a fine dotted line.

The flower has been cut with a Cuttlebug flower die and I've added a card candy to the centre. So if you are after a cd with some lovely girlie images and wonderful papers to match, then this is the cd for you!

More Christmas!

Brace yourself! There are 5 Christmas cards in this post! All of them use a Penny Black stamp which I've coloured with Aquamarkers and used papers either from Funky Hand - Blue Christmas download or from Mad About Cards (vintage type papers) all of which I've had for a few years.

I've used table confetti for the stars and snowflakes plus various ribbons from my stash, which again I've had for a number of years!

I've either used a blue gel pen to dot around the edge of the image and card or a silver or gold 3d Anita's paint (found that lurking in the back of a drawer!) Each challenge specific to a card are listed directly under the card.

Stockings At Christmas

As promised, here is the second of two new releases from Jellypark. This one features the Girl and Christmas Stocking image which I've coloured with Promarkers and a titchy bit of liquid pearls as I seem to be running out!

The card shape is one of the templates on the new Funky Hand cd Happy Happy Birthday and through the workspace part on the cd, I've pulled the paper through so it prints directly onto the template. I've simply added a line of glitter glue around the edge and tied a rather large red organza bow and finished it off with some green embroidery thread.

The red card that the image is layered on is from my stash and the sentiment comes with the image.

If you've not tried a Jellypark image yet then pop over to Claire's blog - she is the owner and illustrator and she has a few freebies on offer - be warned - you will like a lot!!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge:
For A Child

  • Image: Jellypark, coloured with Promarkers
  • Everything else: My stash

Snowball Fight

To coincide with each new Jellypark challenge, two new images are released and here is one of them! This is Snowball Girl and I've coloured her with Promarkers plus glitter glue.

I've layered her onto some very shiny silver card (have to use it sparingly as it is very shiny!) and then papers from the new Funky Hand cd - Happy Happy Birthday.

A silver star charm that I found in my stash (I vaguely remember buying 20 of these a few years ago!) plus some thin white satin ribbon and a silver table confetti snowflake.

The other new release will be blogged very soon!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Christmas Stampin': Clean and Simple

Jellypark Challenge 6 - Design Seeds

Welcome to another Jellypark challenge! This fortnight the challenge set is a little different in that you need to pick the inspiration! The inspiration you pick needs to be from the Design Seeds palette - if you scroll down on the sidebar on Jellypark challenges you will see a widget for Design Seeds which scrolls through lots of wonderful images and colour combinations. Click on the one you like and make something with that inspiration!

I've picked this wonderful combination called 'cake tones':

And here is my creation based upon that colour palette:

I've used the fairy decoupage image from Jellypark which can be downloaded from Claire's blog as a freebie. I've cut out all the layers and used foam pads for depth plus added a bit of glitter glue to her dress.

The papers are offcuts I found in my stash box and are from the Funky Females word book collection from the Funky Daze cd from Funky Hand. I had to add a double band of ribbon as the papers didn't quite meet in the middle! The ribbon is from my stash and I've made the banner to match.

Good luck with the challenge, for more details on how to enter and to see the rest of the Design Team and their creations please go to the Challenge blog! You'll also see the two new releases from Claire - I'll be blogging mine over the weekend!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Flutterby Wednesday's: Butterflies, Fairies or Angels
Ruby's Rainbow: For The Girls

Polkadoodle Challenge 38 - Distress It

It's time for another Polkadoodle challenge! This week the theme is

Distress It

I've used a Kraft card blank and doodled a stitched line around the edge. The scrap of distressed paper is from A Double Sprinkle of Kraft cd and I've printed it A5 size for a smaller detailed pattern. The two brads are from my stash.

I've used the mushroom house from the Garden Neighbours rubber stamp set and coloured it with Aquamarkers. It's been cut out with a Nesties and added to the card blank.

Good luck with the challenge - for more details visit the Polkadoodles Challenge blog.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Embroidery Thread

Here is another card made with the brand new cd from Polkadoodles - Pretty Sweet! All the papers and the image are from the cd I've simply added some real (yes real - not faux for a change!) stitching with a perfectly matched embroidery thread that I got from a recent trip to the scrap store near me. I already had some of the thread but rarely used it for some reason but now I've got a lot more colours, I'm more tempted!

The gems are from my stash and I've just added a bit of inking with green and blue ink. Pretty simple! The image is pre coloured and there is a choice of uncoloured or coloured stampies on the cd - great if you need to make something in a hurry!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Tuesday Morning Sketches: Sketch followed
Get Hippity with Ippity: Buttons or Bow or Bling (I've used the bows and bling)
Digital Tuesday: People Images
Creative Belli: String

  • All paperbased elements: Pretty Sweet cd from Polkadoodles
  • Everything else: My stash

Flower Power

This sort of turned out how I wanted it to! Just a bit bigger that's all! Each of the flowers have been made by layering up either Nesties dies, a Sizzix flower die or a Cuttlebug die. I've distressed the layers by scrunching and inking then before gluing together.

Each of the centres has a blingy gem from the Poundshop. The grey / silver paper is from my stash and all the other papers are from the new cd from Polkadoodles - Pretty Sweet. You'll be seeing more of the cd in the next few days as I've made samples for when it is launched next week on Create and Craft!

Jacob has got his first football coaching practice tonight. It's never ending!!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

It's the third Wednesday of the month so its time for a Dude Time Doodles photo inspiration challenge! The rules of the challenge are to make a Dude card and to follow the theme.

I've used Kyle Karate and coloured him with Promarkers. The star card template is from the new Funky Hand cd Happy Happy Birthday and I've used one of the papers from the cd too.

A bit of faux stitching around the edges plus some card candy and my card is complete!

Good luck with the challenge - for more details please visit the Challenge blog.

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Girly Christmas

Time for a Christmas card and this is the first time I've inked this stamp. I bought it as a bit of a bargain in the clearance section in one of my local craft stores and it works so well for Christmas as well as other occassions! It's been coloured with Promarkers and just a hint of glitter glue.

I've used papers and sentiment from Polkadoodles Jingle Jangle Christmas plus some shiny silver card I found for layering. The gems are from my stash and for some strange reason, it took me ages to work out how best to place them!

The ribbon is from my stash and I've added some red and white embroidery thread as extra detail. And I've just realised that she's floating - I've not added a shadow..... ah well!

Another Christmas card off my total!!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Willow Sketchie: Sketch

Fetch A Sketch Challenge 7

The weeks are going by so fast! And we can't believe that we are already on challenge and sketch 7 on Fetch A Sketch!

We have a returning sponsor - Nikky from Polkadoodles who is generously offering a prize that you can see on Fetch A Sketch (if nothing there - it will be soon, I just forgot to take a photo!)
And here is the sketch for this fortnight:
Hope its not too tricky for you but just think of the bunting you could add!! Feel free to add an image in too and any extra embellishments you need - just follow the basics of the sketch and we will be happy!

I've made 10 cards (yes 10!) with the sketch! I made them for a neighbour who was due a little girl at the end of July so they could be used as either birth announcements or little thank you cards. I've used papers from Candy Doodles from Polkadoodles and inked them before adding them as bunting.

The ribbon I bought from one of my local craft shops (I bought two types just in case hehehe!) and I've added a smaller offcut of card as a central panel and then used liquid pearls to dot around the edges.
I've made three variations on the theme.

Good luck with the challenge - its open until 12noon GMT on Sunday 2 October and for more details and how to enter just pop over to Fetch A Sketch!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Aly's Challenge: Add a Bow
Card Cupids: Anything Goes
Sparkles Challenge: White and Another Colour
Just Some Lines: New Baby

  • Papers: Candy Doodles cd from Polkadoodles
  • Everything else: My stash

Not Quite A Word Book!

I think I can now finally relax. For another year anyway! Both boys have now had their Birthday's and yesterday was the joint party. We really enjoyed it but it was a bit like hearding cats at a few points but still managed to get a game of pass the parcel and musical statues in!

I made this not-quite-a-word-book word book as part of my samples for the launch of the new cd from Funky Hand - Happy Happy Birthday (did you see it on telly?!!)

Its not a traditional word book in that it is bound on one side as this one opens up like a zig zag and can be used as bunting too! All the papers, digi images, sentiments and letters are from the Happy Happy Birthday cd and I've added some of my own bunting from offcuts of paper. I've used some more of the embrodiery thread to make it look like it is all tied together.

The numbers have been coloured with Promarkers as to the stars and sentiments and then I've added glossy accents over the top. All the photos are of the boys from being 2 and 4 and the various cakes they have had over the years!

Up until starting school they sometimes had 3 cakes - a party at nursery (with cake) plus one at my parents (with cake and spot the same cake used twice!!) and at their parties.

And despite the same cake being used twice (not kept for a week and then reused but done on the same day!) I'm surprised that Jacob isn't wearing any of Samuel's old t-shirts! Mind you, they are more or less the same size these days despite 2 years difference!

This was quite easy to make - the height is half a sheet lengthways of A3 card and I've simply stuck the sheets together the make one long banner and folded at the same spine.

This cd is really wonderful - so much to look at and use - I keep finding something new everytime I open it and although it is titled Happy Happy Birthday, most of the papers can be used for any occassion plus there are some wonderful colour collections for the pesky men!

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

CD Sunday: Black and Blue (the papers have a black grid line running through them - just can't see it on the photos!)
Here Come The Boys: Bingo (Cute image - my boys (or if not allowed! the number digi stamps); Blue Papers; Fibre)
Stamp, Scrap and Doodle: Birthday
Cards for Men: Anything But Square
Daring Card Makers: How Many Candles?

  • All papers, numbers, sentiments: Happy Happy Birthday from Funky Hand
  • Photos: Me!
  • Everything else: My stash

Simply Create Challenge 52 - Cake, Cake, Cake!

Welcome to another Simply Create challenge! The theme this fortnight is Cake, Cake, Cake! For more details on the challenge please pop over to the blog.

I've used the wonderful shaped cupcake template from Polkadoodles - Paper Boutique Vol 3 and simply added some of the chocolate (I wish!) stars and coated them with glossy accents plus the star sentiment. I've added some glitter glue here and there plus a silver gel pen dotted line around the star sentiment. Ribbon is from my stash.

Good luck with the challenge!

I'd like to enter the following challenges with my card:

Polkadoodle Challenge 37 - Whiteout

It's time for another Polkadoodle challenge and the theme this week is:

Whiteout

So only the minimal of colour will be accepted - so its opportunity to be Christmassy!

Although my card looks a little too blue (the light was not very good!) is is practically all white. I've used a paper from Magical Winter Vol 2 plus the snowman image and embossed and inked some offcut card.
I've added a fine dotted line with a blue gel pen all around the edges and added some ribbon from my stash along with some blingy gems! The snowman has been 'coloured' with glitter glue and glossy accents.

Good luck with the challenge and the closing date is Sunday 25 September at 12noon GMT

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Feeling Pants?

Despite being a card maker (and having lots of the finished products!) I am useless at being organised enough to send cards for certain occasions. This is for a very lovely person who is recovering from planned surgery (I even knew about it and still am late!) and it will be in the post tomorrow!

Papers are from the very new Happy Happy Birthday cd from Funky Hand and the image is from Charmed Cards and Crafts - I've added the sentiment myself. Cut out with a Nestie and coloured with Promarkers plus stickles.

I've added a faux running stitch around the edge of the shape and finished the card off with a strip (just long enough!) of green grossgrain plus some red and white embroidery thread (the new bakers twine - I'm telling ya!!) tied in a bow.

Now I'm looking at the card thinking it looks a bit Christmassy....

Hope you like it Claire and GET WELL SOON!!!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

I've made this card with a specific person in mind who has been very poorly and his Mum is on the Polkadoodle Design Team, and it will be on its way to Belgium soon! It's for the Dustin Pike challenge which asks for

Stars and Stripes

Papers are from my stash box (stars is from Polkadoodle and stripes from Funky Hand) and the image, of course, is from Dustin Pike. Its been coloured with Promarkers and cut out with one of my Nesties.

And I've found some nice bright yellow embroidery thread which has been threaded through two eyelets and tied in a bow. Card candy from my stash.

Rocket Boy

With everything going on this week, I completely forgot to blog this card that I made with one of the new release digi stamps from Jellypark. This is the Space Ship Rocket digi which I have coloured with Aquamarkers and then added with foam pads to the wonderful background!

The sky is Cosmo Cricket - Sidewalk Chalk digi pack that I bought from Jessica Sprague and I just knew it would be perfect for this card!

I've added a die cut cityscape to the bottom of the card that I've had for absolutely ages and bought from ebay - I've added silver card to the windows. A bit of doodling around the edge of the card with a fineliner plus some card candy (it just added a bit of closure!) and the card is finished!

All the madness should be over by Saturday once the boys have had their joint Birthday party! So normal service shall be resumed shortly! Think of me between 2:30 and 4:30 on Saturday trying to entertain around 30 kids with some random games!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Get Funky Challenge - At The Beach

I'm bringing up the rear this month for the Get Funky challenge! And just metaphorically either if you look at what I've created! I've made three bikini cards each with matching bottoms (on the reverse) and the template I found by googling 'bikini card template'.

The challenge is

At The Beach

And although you may not see many of these in the UK I'm sure you would somewhere hot and exotic! All the papers I've used are from Dreams Come True and I've printed them at A5 size so that the print was smaller.

The frills have been made with a heart shaped punch with the pointy bit hidden underneath. I've added some inking and I've also dotted either stickles or liquid pearls around the edges for extra bling. All ribbon and embellishments are from my stash and matched perfectly!

Apologies for the photo being the wrong way up - Blogger just will not play!

Good luck with the challenge - there are a few days left but please remember to follow the theme AND to use a Funky Hand product - there is always a freebie in the download section if you don't have anything and it always compliments the challenge theme.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:
