Leaning Tower of Cake

More often than not my baking skills are rather dodgy; my jam rolls never did (and even the birds turned their beaks up at the crumbs) and my apple pies were too tart. So, it comes as no surprise that my tiered Victoria sponges lean rather dangerously whilst splodging out stawberry jam and dripping sweet icing.

Buy Birthday Cake from the Dr Digi store and you too can drip icing all down your best top. Fortunately this cake has been coloured with Promarkers plus stickles for a bit of Birthday sparkle. And the ransom letters are from a Kirsty Wiseman cd.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Totally Gorjuss: Happy Birthday
Cards Galore Encore: Use a Digi Stamp
Stempelgarten Challenge: Yummy
The East Wind Challenge: use a Digi

An Idea

I had an idea it was your Birthday. Quick and easy card to make with the fab Dr Digi lightbulb digi and some ransom note letters.

And the best thing about the card, is that the digi is a current freebie in the store!! I've coloured the image with Promarkers and the ransom letters are from an old Kirsty Wiseman cd.

I'd like to enter the following challenges

Artisitic Inspirations: Anything Goes / Masculine
Melonheadz: For The Boys
My Craft Spot: Fun With Puns

WOOOFFF!!!

And here is the second of the two new release stamps from Jellypark for this fortnight and isn't this one a cutie?! This is Puppy Dog and I've coloured him with Aquamarkers and cut him out, layering with foam pads.

I've used a kraft card blank plus a little doodling around the edges and the papers and letters are from Patti Picklicious cd from Kirsty Wiseman and they are papers I've had printed off for ages - see - still trying to be good and use up all my oddments!  At this rate I'll be into the next century by the time the box is empty!

Hope you like the two digi stamps that I've shown and don't forget - they are only £1.25 each in the Jellypark shop!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Great Impressions Stamps:  Animals
Sentimental Sunday's:  Clean and Simple (with a sentiment)
Hiding In My Craft Room:  Super Scraps
Do You Stack Up?  Four Legged Friends

Mornings

This is such a good Bugaboo image! The challenge for Creative Inspirations is:

Sewing / Faux Stitching

I've faux stitched around the edge of the backing paper and also on the pale blue layers using a fine black pen. The image and sentiment are Bugaboo and I've used Promarkers and glitter glue for colouring.
The red backing paper is from Patti Picklicious by Kirsty Wiseman and the pale blue from Funky Daze. Dark blue cardstock from my stash along with Prima flowers and brads.

The card is for my Aunty Margaret who will be 60 tomorrow. Hope she approves of celebrating Birthdays for a few days cos this card is going to be late!!

Pin and Twine Cards

Another installment of the note cards that I made a while ago. I've used my only set of Spellbinder Nestabilities (about time I got another set!) with papers from Patti Picklicious cd from Kirsty Wiseman. I think this particular collection - split sheets must be my favourite! Really elegant and classy. And great for notelets!

I've inked the edges with Chestnut Whispers ink (getting a little well worn now!) and then added a pin along with seed beads at the top and bottom (to stop any surprises!)

And I've tied some twine string in a bow around the middle of the pin. The card I've used is a linen effect cream card and it is just lovely to use - from the Papermill online shop.

I think these will be going for sale on my website at some point. However I don't think I can part with them as I like them so much. So that means I won't use them either!

Autumn Anniversary

The Pink Elephant challenge this week is

Fall

There are so many different collections that I could have used for this, but I have been asked to make a Wedding Anniversary card and to use autumn colours, so what better than to combine it with this challenge!

The papers are from Patti Picklicious and I've printed them onto 300gsm linen ivory card, rounded edges and lightly inked them too. The ribbon is from my stash as too the hat pin, beads, brad and heart charm.

Fortunately, as the card is in landscape, it holds up under the weight of the charm! I actually think I bought the charm in a pack of 6 from B&M Bargains but they are really study!
I am really pleased with this card, so I think I'll be making more that are similar as a set for my up and coming Christmas Fairs on 21 November and 6 December. I may have to buy more ribbon though. Ah well!!

All Digital! (Mostly)

I have found a new challenge site - Bee Crafty which runs a challenge on alternative Saturdays; the current one is:

To use digital papers and a digital image

So, I have used, a quickie digital card by the lovely Kirsty Wiseman - really really easy to use - simply print it out, cut it up and stick it on! Everything you see, with exception to the ribbon, wire and birdies is from the download. The two little birdies are from the Polkadoodles Candy Doodles cd and I've simply added a little bit of glitter (well, a great big blob of glitter to be honest as it came out rather fast!) to their wings.

Great simple card!

Have A Great Day!

It has been quite some time since I managed a Just Magnolia challenge, but as I needed to make a girlie Birthday card and the fact that this week's challenge is a sketch, it all happened very nicely!
All the backing papers, including the cupcake embellishment are from a Kirsty Wiseman freebie via Crafts Beautiful a while ago, I've just lightly inked the edges and added a bit of doodling. I coloured the image firstly with watercolour paints and then added some depth with watercolour pencils.

The wings were glittered and the sentiment stamp is Anita's.

So there you have it! For the next few days it will be Design Team posts which hopefully will schedule correctly as we are away in Edinburgh at a family Wedding. Thank goodness it is a Bank Holiday weekend so I can do some crafting on Monday before it's back to work!

Crafty Downloads - August Challenge

I've a little bit of delayed news to share! I've been asked to be part of the Crafty Downloads team - I entered the July Challenge and was approached once it had closed! I was also the joint winner for July! It's a very new Challenge blog and the August challenge is only the second but you do have a month to create your entry!

The rules are simple - to follow the challenge for that particular month and to use a Crafty Downloads product. There is a freebie which was offered for July which can be found here - so no excuses not to join in!

The challenge for August, in celebration of Scotty's new baby boy is:

Birthstones

Mine is April which is diamond, so I've used Rainy Day Molli and the raindrops I have converted to little tiny diamond gem stones. The spotty backing paper is a freebie download which was created by Kirsty Wiseman but offered for a limited time through Crafts Beautiful. So I was quick off the mark to get this one!

The pale blue backing paper is an offcut from a previous project and is from Now That's Funky. Ribbon is from my stash and I hand wrote the sentiment.

I've coloured Molli with watercolour pencils and she is lovely to colour too - really easy shapes and not too much detail.

So why not pop over to Crafty Downloads and have a go at the monthly challenge? I know there is not much left of August, but September is only around the corner and you get a freebie to work with!

I Found A Red Biro...

.... and decided to use it on this little image! And I think it all fits in with the Papertake Weekly challenge which, this week is:

Delightful Downloads
So all you have to do is use something on your card that has been downloaded. It could be a paper or an image or both!

Well, probably not strictly true as its not a download as such but from the Patti Picklicious cd. Download, digital - its all the same thing aint it?!!

Anyway, all the papers are from the same collection on the cd with the image and titchy tabs elements from a different collection.

I've lightly coloured the image with watercolour pencils to give it a base and then went over it in a cross-hatch style with my newly found red biro! Added a bit of red glitter glue to the flower in her hair and buttons on the dress and then inked the edges.

Sorry for the washed out look of the first photo but the light was rubbish early on and I forgot to take another once the sun broke through.

Patterns and Chandeliers

The Friday Sketchers challenge this week is:

All the elements - image, backing paper, embellishments and sentiment are all from the Patti Picklicious cd. The chandelier image I've layered onto black card to give it a bit more definition and have chalked the edges.

The sentiment has been cut from the titchy alphas that you can print out - I've not changed the sizing - they really are that small!

The embellishments are all cut from one of the backing sheets and I've simply cut out different parts of it and added a bit of glitter glue here and there.

The chandelier has been lightly chalked and again I've added some glitter glue, and as luck would have it, the black ink has bled into the glitter glue and turned it turquoise to match the rest of the card!

Looks Good Enough To Eat!

The Secret Crafter challenge this week is for

Shaped Cards

And look what shape I found on the Patti Picklicious cd! I've actually re sized it as I thought it was a bit titchy so this is more or less A5 size.

I've used a white gel pen to go round the edges and also inked them with brown and pink. The cupcake is also on the cd and I have simply added it to a thin strip of acetate, coloured it with watercolour pencils, inked and chalked it and then finally glitter glued it! And then layered it onto some of the little spotty paper.

Card candy (which matched very perfectly!) from Craftwork Cards.

Introducing Patti....

For some reason, I seem to be very organised this week and I am managing to do challenges as they are published, and not on the last moment. Not sure how long it will last for!

The Sketch Saturday challenge this week is:

And just look what I bought on Saturday.... the Patti Picklicious cd by Kirsty Wiseman! She was demo-ing at the Craft Range in Burnley - literally 10 mins up the M65 for me, and it just seemed rude not to go along and say hello! I did take the boys with me - both I had to wake up in the car (not that they find crafting boring, but they were tired the poor little lambs) so they were not best pleased about that, but Samuel was poorly (he'd parted with his juice in the carpark earlier) and was not wanting me to stop and chat to a woman with loads of cards on the table and chat about sausage dogs. Jacob was a bit more amenable but pretended to be shy. Although he did listen to the conversation as he kept asking to go back and see Kirsty and look at her sausage dog (she showed him a pic of Eddy on her pc)....

Anyway, I spent a nice time on Sunday browsing the contents of the cd (I've made a few cards with the papers but those will come later in the week) and decided to use the cd for this card - the only thing that is not on the cd is the black and white ribbon!
I've gone around the edges of the fancy sentiment with a white gel pen, the scalloped edges are a Martha Stewart punch, and the typewriter effect letters are also from the cd. The image has been coloured with watercolour pencils.
I am liking this cd!

Round & Round

The Creative Card Crew challenge this week is:

Round and Round
I did think about making a round card, but then I wondered how it would stand up! As that option gave me too much to think about, I decided to keep the square shaped card (rounded the edges) and went for the elements within the card to be round. Much more simple! The papers are the freebie Patti Picklicious downloads from Kirsty Wiseman - I do like these bright colours and wanted to use them again!

The circles have been drawn using a compass and the three smaller ones have had their edges 'ruffled' and are attached to the card with a brad so that it moves to reveal the Birthday message underneath. This card was very much inspired by my Funky Hand DT mate Lythan although mine is not quite as slick as hers!

All the papers including sentiment (I added the 50 on) are from the download with the ric rac ribbon from my stash.

  • Brad: From my stash
  • Ribbon: From my stash

Generosity

Well, I am back from Harrogate and a few quid lighter (although didn't spend almost as much as I thought I would) but laden down with packages from the very wonderful Kath!

Myself, Jozza and Kath had arranged to meet up at The Northern Papercrafts Extravaganza on Sunday, held in Harrogate. Kath had some samples to drop off at the Craftwork Cards stand (slightly jealous that she gets to play with all the lovely stuff!) so it all worked out really well for a mini Funky Hand Design Gang meet!

We met up in the cafe area and had a good natter. Kath, to the surprise of Joz and I produced some wonderous packages out of her bag! Here are the ones meant for only me:
A beautiful little triangular box with a very cute birdy image on it (look at the ribbon!) and a lovely folder - all matching colours!

And just look what was inside the box!! Needless to say, it was ribboned back up again sharpish, before any little monsters realise what is inside and scoff the lot! That goes for the big Daddy monster too!
Inside the folder were lots of stamped images - I didn't have chance to properly look but I think they are all Penny Black (yeah!!)

Then I had this to open:

I am instantly recognising the Craftwork Cards card candy, plus papers and sentiments (forget love - fall in chocolate heheheheh!) And more stamped images! Penny Black again and some Daisy and Dandelion too!

I said earlier that these were the packages meant for me. I've not photographed the Easter finger making puppet sets or the tubes of Mini Eggs that Kath sent for the boys. Not that any of it has been eaten - just the light was fading fast and I wanted to get the photos taken!
Samuel and Jacob don't actually know yet that they both have surprises waiting for them and I can't wait to see what they say!!
And for once, I think both Jozza and I were lost for words - Kath's generosity is very, well, generous!! The funny thing is, Kath is just like she is on her blog but real and funny!
A big thank you to Kath for the treats and also to Jozza and her friend for making me laugh when I shouldn't!
Shall we do it again sometime?!
PS Met Kirsty Wiseman too!!

Another Patti Picklicious Freebie Card!

Another lovely sketch for Sketches by Tamara challenge this week :Again I've used the fab free papers from Kirsty Wiseman from her new Patti Picklicious range - these papers are the other half to these. See how I don't like to waste ANYTHING! The flower is a template that I drew myself and I've layered the two circles onto contrasting papers for a bit of a lift.

All the edges have been inked with my trusty fading black ink pad and a line doodled around the edge. The black gem is Club Green.

And I've added a dab of gold glitter glue on the candle. A very simple but striking card!

Some Very Fab Free Papers!

The Cupcake Challenge this week is a sketch:

And I really was not sure what I was going to do. And then I had a quick look at Kirsty Wiseman's new blog for her new Patti Picklicious Range (Jozza is a member of her design team - how fab is that?!) When lo and behold, there was a time limited freebie on offer! And what very fab colours! So I downloaded and printed both of the papers off and this is what I created that very night!

Everything - with exception to the three black gems at the bottom are all from the papers. And see what a good job I did with cutting around the circle sentiment?! Although could have tried harder when making sure the centre bit was straight and not slightly off.....
All edges have been inked with bright pink and then running out black and I've lightly doodled a border around the card. Its lightly as the pen is on its way out and I must remember to buy another.

I am very pleased with the papers and I can feel some more cards coming on. And I can't wait for the cd to be released as from what I've already seen, the papers will knock me socks off!
