Simple Doodles Challenge 16 - Something Old

It's time for another Simple Doodles challenge! The challenge runs for 2 weeks and closes on Thursday 6 May just before the next challenge starts! The theme this week is:

Something Old

You can interpret that however you wish and you don't need to use a Simple Doodles digi stamp to enter - you can use what ever you like! But there are plenty of freebies on the challenge blog and the stamps are a joy to colour! My favourite is the dino which I've coloured with a combination of Promarkers and felt tips.

I've not got a clue where the backing paper came from as it was in my box of bits, but it is a digi one as I've printed it off. I've doodled a dotted line around the outer edge and then a wavy one inside with a Sharpie marker. The buttons are from my stash and the line of trees I think are a Sizzix extended die cut but I've had them for absolutely ages and not used them before, so that is part of my old theme. Plus the dino is old too!!

Hope you decide to enter - just remember to follow the theme and get your creation in before the deadline (the UK is approx 8 hours in front of the US so it gives you a little more leeway!) Good luck!

  • Backing paper: Don't know - it was in my bits box!

Another Patti Picklicious Freebie Card!

Another lovely sketch for Sketches by Tamara challenge this week :Again I've used the fab free papers from Kirsty Wiseman from her new Patti Picklicious range - these papers are the other half to these. See how I don't like to waste ANYTHING! The flower is a template that I drew myself and I've layered the two circles onto contrasting papers for a bit of a lift.

All the edges have been inked with my trusty fading black ink pad and a line doodled around the edge. The black gem is Club Green.

And I've added a dab of gold glitter glue on the candle. A very simple but striking card!

Big n Bold!

Quite a simple sketch this week on 2 Sketches 4 u:

I've used more papers from Funky Daze - this time I've used the Fun Daze collection (be warned - its bright and bouncy!) I've doodled on the edges of the papers and added the broad grosgrain ribbon. The paper pattern actually showed through so I cut a piece of white paper for the ribbon to sit on.

The sentiment tile was a freebie from a magazine a while ago, and the flower was one of those impulse purchases when at the checkout and presented with a fantastic bargain, never to be repeated, which just cries to be picked up and purchased! The flower was actually attached to a stem which I removed but left quite a long bit which was a tad tricky to attach to the card but I managed it in the end (a brad poked through the reverse of the card into the hole of the stem and copious amounts of glue to hold it all in place!)
  • Backing paper: Funky Daze from Funky Hand
  • Sentiment: From my stash (originally a freebie from a magazine)
  • Ribbon: From my stash

Funky Fairy Challenge 29 - Celebration!

Ok, so I've slipped this one in, plus its a fortnightly challenge! But it was so easy to make! Sort of knew what I was going to do and then 'things' took over and it turned out quite different. But, I am pleased with it, especially the funky foam flower!

Funky Fairys Challenge 29 is:

The fortnightly challenge was set by THE FUnkY faIRy herself . . . Shaz.
The theme that Shaz choose was celebration . . .
The next challenge falls on the week of what would be *is* Daniels 17 th birthday, so I would like that weeks challenge to be CELEBRATION which could be birth, life, wedding, birthday, party . . anything at all to do with celebration.

And here is mine
Doodlementals add on pack 2 backing paper, printed at normal size and then smaller - the smaller panel has been layered. I did a bit of doodling (Jozza inspired!) around the edges and also copied the flower design to make it stand out a little by using black gel pen.

The celebration sentiment was a freebie from yonks ago (and one of the FF DT has also used it!) and its attached to the card with some thin acetate. To stop it springing back up, I've added a little flower brad to give it some weight. Mint green organza ribbon has been tied around the card too.

The funky foam flower is one of my creations and will be added to my website next month - its layered flowers with a flower brad centre. I've also added some swirls of wire and two lilac star pony beads (which I bought on a whim ages ago and knew I'd use at some point!)

  • Backing paper: Doodlementals add-on pack 2 from Funky Fairy
  • Sentiment: From my stash
  • Ribbon: From my BIG stash box!
  • Embellishments: Made by myself from funky foam, pony beads, brad and wire. Available to buy from my website in September
