Dude Time Doodles - Win A Guest Designer Spot!

Simply Create Challenge 54 - Shades of Black

It's time for a new Simply Create challenge and this fortnight the theme is:

Shades of Black

I've made a word book using the Salt n Pepper download from Funky Hand and created the letters in Word, cut them out, layered onto some more card, cut those out and then added them to the page.


Red glitter glue has been added around the letters for a bit of sparkle and the ribbon is from Meiflower.

Black and White Christmas

I really do like this Tiddly Inks image although I think it is no longer available. I've cut it out with a Nesties and then layered it onto some printed card (Salt n Pepper download from Funky Hand). I've made the background by embossing the card blank - a lot easier to do when I realised I need to open out the card so I wasn't shoving double thickness through! Swiss dots for the smaller panel.

I've dotted silver 3d paint around the edge of the image plus added some to the layered snowflake which is a Sizzix die.

The large black ribbon is from my stash (probably Blackburn market) and the smaller checked is from MeiFlower which I thoroughly recommend - wonderful range, great prices and very fast shipping!

Get Funky Challenge - Sketch

It's my turn to hopefully inspire you for the current Get Funky! Challenge! This month Anice is our hostess and she's provided a wonderful sketch to work with:

I decided to alter an address book that had a rather horrid cover and have used papers and the little house digi stamp is from the workspace section of Colour Me Happy which has been coloured with Aquamarkers. I've used a Nestie for the shape and have dotted liquid pearls around the edge.

I also decided to use the sketch to make a new house card. Papers are from the Salt and Pepper download and the image is from Dreams Come True. The ribbon and tiny key charm are from my stash.

Dude Time Doodles - Challenge 16 - Colour Inspiration

Welcome to the third Wednesday in the month which for the Dudettes and the Dude Time Doodles fans is a colour and theme inspiration challenge! I've gone for a slightly different angle with my card so I'll have fun trying to find an envelope for it to fit into! I've used Mo Stooge as my main image and he's had the Promarker treatment and a good dollop of glossy accents on his fine head of hair! I've used various papers from Funky Hand - Salt and Pepper download which are just perfect for this challenge! And the sentiment is computer generated and says 'if only everything was so black and white'.

Housework

I must have pages of Bugaboo images already printed and waiting to be coloured. They are so quick and easy to colour and make putting a card together pretty quick! I just need to get a bit ahead of myself and stock up on coloured images! As it is the first week of the month the Bugaboo challenge is:

I've used a Bugaboo image, coloured it with Promarkers and used scraps of paper (the shoe box level is going down very slowly!) from Funky Hand - Salt and Pepper download. The red and silver card is from my stash.


The tiny little white and black half pearls are from Bunny Zoe's Crafts and I picked them as part of the £10 gift certificate that I won on the Forever Friends Challenge a few weeks ago. Really good service and good prices too!

And this is such a true sentiment and one that I swear by!

Mighty Boosh Birthday

A fab sketch over on Sketch and Stash Challenge this fortnight, and get me - how quick off the mark am I?!!


I have been asked to make a Birthday card with a particular theme in mind - for a teenager who is a big fan of The Mighty Boosh. Okay. Fortunately, I had this digi image from Bugaboo which had not get graced the printer and card. I coloured it with Promarkers and then used foam pads to give it a bit of depth on the front of the card.

The black and white star backing paper is from Funky Hand's Salt and Pepper download which I really should use more as it is fantastic for teenager cards - quite grungy but nice!

And my research lead me to all the photos from The Mighty Boosh which I added as another layer behind the image. The sentiment is computer generated - I think the typeface is Chiller.

A bit of inking and doodling around the edges and the card is complete. Hope the recipient is suitably impressed!

Housework...

Another card and another challenge today! This is for the Allsorts challenge which asks for:

Black, White and one other Colour

I chose the image (sentiment was part of it) from Bugaboo when I came second in one of their recent challenges. I am a BIG fan of Bugaboo as the digital images are just right up my street and they are really great to colour too!

I've used red card from my stash for layering (it is a shiny red card!) plus papers from the Salt and Pepper download from Funky Hand. The sentiment came with the image and I've just inked the edges, rounded them and layered it.


I've coloured the image with Promarkers plus a little glitter glue on her headscarf (although once again, it was not dry when I took the photo!) I've added eyelets and threaded thin satin black ribbon through, tying 3 bows on the end.

And for those who know me, life IS too short for housework!! I'm going to get a lot of mileage out of this image plus the other 3 that I picked!!

Who Me?

I'm a little close to the deadline for this one, but will submit it anyway - you just never know! I've followed the sketch for The Pink Elephant Challenge:
I made this card using papers from Salt and Pepper download from Funky Hand with some plain red card from my stash. The image - I've added the colour red with Promarkers - is from a sheet I downloaded from CraftsUPrint.

The buttons are from my stash. I do like the quirkiness of this image - just ideal for those stroppy boy cards!!

Salt & Pepper Robot

I've combined the current Sketch and Stash challenge with the Creative Card Crew Monochrome Madness challenge

I've used my Papermania Robot stamp (think I've only used it once or twice before!) and have inked it with silver ink. The backing papers are the Salt and Pepper download from Funky Hand, and I've not used these papers for ages!

I've inked the edges with strong black and a fading black inkpads and added a silver doodled line around the edge of the card. Sorry about the poor photo - the sun hadn't quite got to us this morning when I took the photo!

Robot!

I do like Tamara's Sketches - they are so simple and easy to work with! This week is the following, and because I'm getting good at these sketches, I decided to flip it round!!This is the robot stamp that I used on Samuel on Sunday! I used a black Stamp It Up water based ink pad as I wanted a bit of a mottled look to it which has worked out just how I wanted. The robot has been layered onto some silver wavy card and then onto some really shiny (but not mirror) silver card - hence the flash bounce!

The backing paper is Salt and Pepper download from Funky Hand, and yes, those are paperclips that I have used with a small star in the centre! I found a big tub of paperclips a few weeks ago, I've not got a clue what possessed me to buy so many, but waste not want not, so I decided I'd better try and use them!

The two stamps are fairly recent purchases, and I can't remember the maker, so will update this post when I eventually remember to look!

It's not often I make male cards, and I did have one to make for the end of the month, so this fits nicely!

Ahoy Matey! It's A Friday Sketchers Challenge!

The Friday Sketchers Challenge for the week is this sketch:

Again I've used the new Funky Hand Salt and Pepper download (it is so versatile!) and I did a little yelp when I saw the skull and crossbones paper as I've been wanting some of that for a while, for those teenager cards! I've ripped the skull and crossbones panel and then inked it with black for a bit more of a grunge look. The pirate hat has been coloured with watercolour pencils and is from Allison. The silver strips have been Cuttlebug embossed with Swiss Dots and are attached via 3d foam pads.

I'm thinking that the card could do with a sentiment underneath the hat..... perhaps I'll add one later!

It's Not Square! Sketches by Tamara #64

The Sketches By Tamara sketch for this week is: And here is what I've done!

I used my new compass (who would have thought things like that would come in handy so many years after leaving school?!) to draw the circle, but I kept the straight edge otherwise the card would probably not open! Backing paper is the new Funky Hand download Salt and Pepper and I thought it looked a bit snowflaky! The snowflakes are Sizzlit die cuts from silver card and layered onto more Salt and Pepper papers with a red gem centres. The ribbon is from my stash, edges have been silver glittered, and the sentiment is a Studio G stamp.

Salt and Pepper - Scallops and Scallops - DCM Challenge

I did a little squeal of delight when I got a sneak preview of the new Funky Hand download - Salt and Pepper as it very nicely fitted in with the Daring Cardmakers Challenge this week which is:

Use your imagination, your scallop punches, your corner rounders, your cricuts and cuttlebugs to create any card to fit any style as long as it shows scallops

All the papers are from the Salt and Pepper download - I printed the background paper at A5 size as I wanted a smaller patter but the scalloped circles have been printed at the default setting. The edges of the card and background have been lightly inked in pink, and some of the scallops have been doodled with silver gel pen. The fluffy pink fibres are from the generous JennyFlower and the brad from my stash.

Sometimes I don't want to make a specific occasion card - I just like to do my own thing and this is one of those times!

Salt & Pepper Funky Hand Download ...

And I feel a Christmas card or two just bursting to be made from the papers, in a cool, modern yet funky style!!
