Not Quite A Word Book!

I think I can now finally relax. For another year anyway! Both boys have now had their Birthday's and yesterday was the joint party. We really enjoyed it but it was a bit like hearding cats at a few points but still managed to get a game of pass the parcel and musical statues in!

I made this not-quite-a-word-book word book as part of my samples for the launch of the new cd from Funky Hand - Happy Happy Birthday (did you see it on telly?!!)

Its not a traditional word book in that it is bound on one side as this one opens up like a zig zag and can be used as bunting too! All the papers, digi images, sentiments and letters are from the Happy Happy Birthday cd and I've added some of my own bunting from offcuts of paper. I've used some more of the embrodiery thread to make it look like it is all tied together.

The numbers have been coloured with Promarkers as to the stars and sentiments and then I've added glossy accents over the top. All the photos are of the boys from being 2 and 4 and the various cakes they have had over the years!

Up until starting school they sometimes had 3 cakes - a party at nursery (with cake) plus one at my parents (with cake and spot the same cake used twice!!) and at their parties.

And despite the same cake being used twice (not kept for a week and then reused but done on the same day!) I'm surprised that Jacob isn't wearing any of Samuel's old t-shirts! Mind you, they are more or less the same size these days despite 2 years difference!

This was quite easy to make - the height is half a sheet lengthways of A3 card and I've simply stuck the sheets together the make one long banner and folded at the same spine.

This cd is really wonderful - so much to look at and use - I keep finding something new everytime I open it and although it is titled Happy Happy Birthday, most of the papers can be used for any occassion plus there are some wonderful colour collections for the pesky men!

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

CD Sunday: Black and Blue (the papers have a black grid line running through them - just can't see it on the photos!)
Here Come The Boys: Bingo (Cute image - my boys (or if not allowed! the number digi stamps); Blue Papers; Fibre)
Stamp, Scrap and Doodle: Birthday
Cards for Men: Anything But Square
Daring Card Makers: How Many Candles?

  • All papers, numbers, sentiments: Happy Happy Birthday from Funky Hand
  • Photos: Me!
  • Everything else: My stash
