Daring Card Makers Challenge - Mermaids

It's time for a new Daring Cardmakers challenge and the theme this week is

Mermaids

I've used a Little Miss Muffet digi stamp I found pre printed in my stash, coloured with Promarkers and liquid pearls.  The papers are from a bargain 6x6 pack I found in my stash plus I delved deeper and found some Basic Grey fibres that were gifted to me and teamed it with some thin lavender ribbon.

I've hand written the sentiment, added liquid pearl dots around the edge of the card and image plus softened it a little with heart vellum die cuts around the image.  Good luck with the challenge!

Winnie Mermaid

Here I am with another of the wonderful Winnie dies from Polkadoodles!  I've made the card base using the Stitched and Pierced Circles dies, the Winnie Ballerina body, top part of the tutu and also the single hair piece.  I used Aquamarkers to colour a scrap bit of card, cut out the top part of the tutu and then two of the single hair pieces - I cut one in reverse so I could get the mermaid 'tail'.

After gluing the tail together, I applied quite a lot of glossy accents over the top and added seed beads from my stash and a lot of very fine glitter - it doesn't really show up in the photo but there are lots!

The hair has been cut using the Winnie Chic die set and the body colour uses one of the papers from the cardstock pack.

I made the background by adding more glossy accents and the fine glitter and then inking the edges of the card.

Organza ribbon is from my stash along with the flower brad.

Mermaid

It's time to show off the new release digi stamp over at Jellypark and here she is!  Such a cute mermaid!  I've used a scalloped edge card blank as a template to draw around as I've used some hammered white card (sort of a bit like watercolour paper) as the base.

Image has been coloured with Promarkers and I've cut out the image leaving a tiny white border around the edge.

The card base has been coloured directly onto it with Aquamarkers and I'm quite pleased how it all turned out and I've just realised that the card blank ishaped a little like a fancy shell!  I'd like to say that it was planned, but I'm not that good!  I've inked around the edges with a Chestnut brown Whispers almost dired out inkpad.

And look - no embellishments!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Birthday Mermaid

It's been a while since I last joined in with a Pattie's Creation challenge, but when I saw the theme for the current one, I could not resist! It is:

Something for a Child - With Their Name

I've already made two cards for Casey and they were both a little bit on the pink side, so had to go for a very different colour scheme! She has swimming lessons so I thought the Mermaid image from Pattie's Creations was perfect. She's been coloured with Promarkers and I've added glitter glue to the bubbles and also the sea shell. I've inked the edges of the image with faded blue and green ink plus some chestnut brown and a bit of black.

The patterned papers and strip are from DCWV Retro 6x6 stack and the others are oddments from my stash. I've used the computer for the sentiment and to finish it off, I've dotted a line around the edge of the image and sentiment with liquid pearls.

So I am now organised! Her present is bought and it all just needs wrapping and writing!

  • Image: Pattie's Creations, coloured with Promarkers
  • Papers: DCWV Retro 6x6 Stack
  • Other papers: Stash oddments
  • Sentiment: Computer generated
  • Everything else: My stash
