Simply Create Too Challenge 33 Midway Extra - Easter / Bunnies

We're moving into the second week of the new challenge at Simply Create Too and the theme for the fortnight is:

Easter / Bunnies

I've altered a rather uninspiring pine photo frame by painting it with white acrylic paint mixed with some very fine glitter.  It took 3 coats to get it how I wanted!

The bunting and image are from Polkadoodles - Cherryblossom Lane cd and I've simply added the emboridery thread and a pale watercoloured background to the image.  Not much input from me on this creation!!

Apologies for the strange glow on the photo - you may recognise it as SUNSHINE!!

Good luck with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

Crafting For All Seasons:  Anything But A Card
Creative Moments:  Animals
Paper Pretties:  Glitter (its added to the frame)
Deep Ocean Challenge:  Cute and Cuddly
Creative Creations Challenges:  Letter B (bunny, bunting, boat, bows)

Image and Bunting:  Cherryblossom Lane cd from Polkadoodles
Frame:  Randomly found under a cupboard
Everything else:  My stash

Jellypark Challenge 5 - Pass It On

It's time for another Jellypark challenge and we are up to number 5 already! The theme for this fortnight is

Pass It On

So something that you've made and have passed on to someone else - a Birthday card for instance. I've altered a rather plain notebook using the Little Girl and Balloon Jellypark digi stamp, coloured with Promarkers and glossy accents added on the balloon.

The papers are a digi kit bought from Jessica Sprague - Cosmo Cricket Togetherness. I've simply added some string from the kitchen drawer. The string and bow on the right of the cover was not supposed to be there but I'd splodged some glue so it had to be covered up!

The notebook will be a gift later on this month - so at least that's one item crossed off my list!

Today also sees two new release digi stamps from Jellypark - if you pop over to the challenge blog you'll see them and I'll be blogging mine over the weekend!

Good luck with the challenge!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Crafty Purple Frog: Birthday's or Gifts
Cute Card Thursday: Something Use in an Office (notebook)
Do You Stack Up?: Texture (glossy accents and string)
For Fun Challenges: Kids at Play
Craft Room Challenge: Home Decor

  • Image: Jellypark, coloured with Promarkers and glossy accents
  • Papers: Cosmo Cricket digi pack - Togetherness
  • String: Kitchen drawer

Polkadoodle Challenge 40 - DIY Embellishments

It's Friday again so its time for another Polkadoodle challenge!

The challenge this week has been set by Lou who has asked us to create our own

Embellishments

Pop over to the challenge blog to see the talent of the Design Team and how they have made their embellishments! Closing date for the challenge is Sunday 17 October at 12noon GMT and please remember that you can only combine your Polkadoodle entry with 9 other challenges.

I've altered a notebook, covering it with papers from Sundae of Seasons along with layered flowers also from the same cd. I've actually laminated the flowers so they are a bit more robust!

The wide satin ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment is also from the Sundae of Seasons cd. I've intentionally let the flowers spill over the edge of the notebook for a more tactile feel.

Hope you can join in with the challenge!

Altered!

A fab challenge over on Incy Wincy this week and it is to:

Alter It!

I altered this boring tin of twine a while ago in preparation for the launch of the Colour Me Happy cd by Funky Hand. All the paperbased elements you see are from the cd and I've laminated the name plate on the front of the tin then added the wording (otherwise it would not go through!)

I've used my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet die set for the lettering and have coloured the name plate with Promarkers.

The ribbons are from my stash and I've used a Nesties die to draw around to make the band around the centre.

A bit of inking and it's completed! I bought the tin of twine from Poundland - similar item in Sainsburys was nearly 4 times the price! I think next time I'm in Poundland, if they have any more I'll get some to alter for Christmas presents!

Polkadoodle Challenge Week 17 - Alter It!

It's Friday again so its another Polkadoodle challenge! This week it is my turn to host the challenge and I've picked the theme of:

Alter It!

I've used papers and topper from the brand new cd All Around and Everywhere which I've used to cover this plastic jar which I picked up on my last trip to the Scrap Store. I've inked and doodled around the edges of the paper.

It's a bit difficult to make a nice clean join so I've had to pretty it up with the tied ribbon! The topper is also from the cd and I've simply cut it out and layered it onto black card, punched holes in the side and tied it on with organza ribbon.

And here it is holding the windmills I made for last week's challenge!

To enter the challenge, please go to the challenge blog, link up your creation with Mr Linky and please remember you can enter it into upto 10 challenges including Polkadoodles. And the deadline is 12noon GMT on Sunday 9 May. Good luck!

An Earthy Notebook

The Charisma Cardz challenge this week is a good one! And something that I always think, hmmm, I'll do that one day, but never do, but this time, I have!

The challenge is:

Alter It! (Not a card)
So I bought this little notebook from Tesco's (I didn't like the look of the ring bound ones and I wanted it a bit sturdy, plus the green spine fitted in with what I had in mind!) And then I covered it with brown packing paper!

I've used a Martha Stewart punch on the side and threaded jute string through the smaller holes (had to put some sellotape on the ends cos it kept fraying!) I forgot to take photos of the inside, but it is all neatly folded and square!

The scrap of lined paper is from a lovely little notebook I found (in Tesco's) ages ago and then I've layered some green card over the top, cornered the corners and inked it, and then added the image. This has also been cornered and inked and I've also chalked it too to give it a little bit of a weathered and earthy look. I platted the twine to pass through the top of the paper - again a bit more interest and I like tactile things!

And this is the back. Nice and plain! I've inked and chalked the edges too.

Can you see the little bits of glitter on the flower centres? The image is from a new cd due to be launched by Nikky on 21 July on Create and Craft - the cd is called Candy Doodles and it is just fab! Some nice surprises in it - my favourite has to be the decoupage cake!

  • Everything else: From my stash
  • Notebook: Tesco's

Chocolate Box!

Can you see it?!! My chocolate box is the bottom of the three images (incidentally, top one is by JBJB) as featured on Crafts Blog.

I answered a plea to write a tutorial, with photographs, on how I've changed a blank wooden box and I could do what ever I wanted with it, and I got to keep the box afterwards!

If you look closely, the box has been covered with Funky Hand backing paper! There have been a number of the boxes altered by Crafts Forum members and some of them are already on the website. Go and have a look as there are some fantastic designs!

The tutorial is a little picture heavy but will add it over the next few days probably in two parts. So be warned!
