Have A Great Day!

Well, I am right on the ball this week - only a day or so after the challenge has gone live and I've made my card! No last minute minnie for me on this one!! This card is for the current Bugaboo challenge which is to follow the sketch and the theme of:

April Showers

It was quite an inspired moment - the backing paper is a bargain 25p 12x12 sheet from my now joint favourite craft shop - Inspirations which has not long been open and is not too far from me (15 mins down the motorway towards Preston if I put my toe down). It's K & Co and is very nice!

I thought it went well with the image and I coloured it with Promarkers to match the paper. The coloured card is from my stash, along with the ribbon. The sentiment is an Anita's stamp and the largest of the three brads is Queen & Co, very generously sent to me by Jenny a while ago (see - I've opened them!!!) The other two are from my stash - probably Dovecraft.

Polkadoodle Challenge 11 - Card and Gift Combination

And yes! It's Friday again - it's Polkadoodle time!! For the challenge this week (and we are at week 11!) the DT were asked to make a card which could be a gift as well.

I decided to make a scalloped gift bag with a small bar of chocolate inside. Now although this photo looks fine, I can tell you that I had to hold the bag down with a fair bit of blu-tac because the chocolate made it fall over. And you will note that the little fastener thing is almost bursting open. Will make me think more carefully what to put in it next time! Mind you, that particular bar of chocolate won't be in it anyway.......hehehe, long gone!

I did make it for my friend who has a Birthday mid August and she is a very girly girl too and will love this!

Anyway, all paper based elements are from Candy Doodles. The handbag has been printed onto white hammered card and the edges have been inked. The fastener is one of my prized Queen & Co items (they were half price when I bought them so didn't feel too lavish!) I've tied the tag to the handle with some wide pink stiff organza ribbon and some lovely black thin satin ribbon.

The butterflies have been layered - bottom is printed onto card, cut out and then a vellum layer has been added. I've just glued the body bits so the wings can flap out. They did have antenna but I chopped them off - way too fiddly for me!

So there you go! Pop on over to the Polkadoodle blog for further details on this week's challenge and don't forget, you have until Sunday 9 August to enter. Good luck!

Pink Elephant Challenge # 3

The Pink Elephant challenge this week is a very fab sketch (by my fellow Funky Hand DT mate Carol):

I've had a bit of trouble trying to do flourishes and swirls and it, to be honest, was just not happening, so it ended up being two flowers folded in half with a Queen & Co brad to hold it all together. Plus, as I look at the card again, it goes well with the image! The image was sent to me by Lythan in a recent Funky Hand image swop and I've coloured it with watercolour pencils.

Originally, the background of the card was in a solid colour but it just didn't look right, so to keep to the sketch, I made a frame from rose pearlescent card - the image is layered onto raspberry (which I always thought would be pink but this is purple!) pearlescent card - both cut from huge sheets from The Range.
Fancy edge punch is a Martha Stewart one and I've added some pink grosgrain ribbon just to hide the dodgy edge that I managed not to cut very well!

I hand wrote the sentiment with watercolour pencils as I now need to get cracking on Mothers Day cards!
