Boys & Girls Papers - Tilda Challenge #40

The Tilda Challenge this week is a sketch:

And its no secret that I like sketches! I've used the Craft4Charity cd Boys and Girls backing paper from Funky Hand along with a watercoloured Tilda image which has been enhanced with watercolour pencils too. I couldn't really get the image as a circle as it didn't look right with too much 'white' around it, so its a sort of egg shape. The background of the image has been lightly chalked in pink, and the edges have been dotted in gold gel pen.

So sorry for the wonky card - I think I was so pleased I was taking the photo in daylight I forgot to square upto it!

The little bulldog clip on the side is from Jozza and I've added some organza ribbon (which started life as a very chavvy hairband!) and some fibres.

Lilac & Pinks - Tilda Challenge 38 - Sketch

Oh look - its not festive! I really enjoyed making this card and once again delved into the Dovecraft 6x6 Amethyst papers for colour inspiration.

The Tilda challenge this week is the sketch below, which I rotated to incorporate all of the Tilda image



The lilac background is paper which has been inked in pink with a silver gel pen faux running stitch around the edge (and yes it is a bit wobbly in places as Jacob was trying to get on my knee to see what I was doing!) The image has been coloured with watercolour pencils and her wings have been lightly glittered.

I twisted the raffia ribbon so that both colours would show as it looked a bit flat with only the pink or lilac and I wanted some texture too. A fairly quick and simple card to make - just the colouring took a while!

Tilda Challenge 37 - On A Budget!

The Tilda Challenge this week is:

Spend Spend Spend...............No SAVE SAVE SAVE!!!!

This week I would like you to make your work on a budget.

The work must not cost no more than £1 $2/1.26euro to make.

This time of Year it is always “pennies are tight” people are trying to be good and save

Such a good challenge! And an excuse to use up some of the odds and ends I have lying around! The small dotted paper I've not got a clue where it came from but it has been printed onto photo paper so it is nice and shiny; the large dot paper is from the Mini Big Dots download by Pink Petticoat (complete bargain at only £1.99!) The ribbon is a Dovecraft 3 metres for 99p bargain roll and was on a BOGOF - Buy One Get One Free offer. The Tilda image has been coloured with my trusty watercolour paints, the sentiment stamp is from a Studio G girl set and is the first time I've used it.

• Card Blank: From a bargain pack - cost 7p
• Backing Paper: Small blue and white dots - don't know, but printed onto photo paper - cost 10p; red and white dots from Pink Petticoat plus cost of card - cost 2p

Tilda - Chocolate Delight & Friday Sketchers 19 Challenges

I've decided to combine two challenges into one this week. So, to take the Friday Sketchers Challenge 19 Sketch, which is:




and combine it with the Tilda Challenge 36 for the week, which is to use the following Chocolate Delight image for inspiration:

And this is what I've produced! Apart from the brown (milk chocolate) backing, all the papers are from Funky Hand's Funky Season's cd. I've lightly inked all the edges with a pink stamp pad, plus the edges of the buttons.

The image has been coloured with watercolour paints and I think I'm now getting better at using the watercolours - well, it has been a long time since I did any real painting with them! Tilda's wings have been glittered with lumpy glitter glue. Didn't realise it was lumpy until too late but its actually dried ok!

Tilda & Co Challenge 32 - Cold as Ice

I think I must be doing something right at the moment because cards are not taking me that long to make - everything is just falling into place!

The Tilda & Co Challenge 32 is

Cold as ice...
The sun is now drifting away very fast and soon it will be as cold as ice....
Using the colours Blue & white Only . Show us how cold your projects can feel this week.

The backing paper is from the beautiful Deep Blue collection from Vicki's blog and I printed it off so it would fit the cardstock perfectly. The pale blue snowflake backing card is a download from Mad About Cards (I think a freebie too) and is one I printed off last year with such good intentions and never used it! Tilda (from Jozza) has been coloured with watercolour paints and I've added a bit of silver glitter sparkle to her wings and shoes.

The snowflake is cut with my Sizzix die and from vellum with added white fibres around the points and a square blue blingy gem to hide the 3d foam pads underneath! The sentiment I found so I don't know where it came from and the ribbon threading overlay was sent to me by my fellow Funky Hand DT mate Kath. Blue grosgrain ribbon from my stash.

Tilda actually has a bit of a blue shiner - I was over zealous in daubing a bit of colour on her cheeks and must have had blue paint on my finger too! Ah well, its in keeping with the blue theme!

Tilda & Co Challenge 31 - Christmas is Coming!

For this challenge I had no choice but to do a Christmas theme! For the Tilda & Co Challenge 31, the brief is:

*Challenge 31* Christmas is Coming..
Please Create anything as long as it is Christmas Related

This time (after learning my lesson with the Penny Black Challenge) I picked the papers and then coloured the image! Papers from Yule Be Funky cd from Funky Hand and these are from the Traditional Xmas collection. And as luck would have it, I had two lots of grosgrain ribbon that complemented the colours! The edges of the card and layers have been inked in green and black as too the sentiment.

Tilda has been coloured with water colours and her wings have had the gold glitter 3d paint treatment. She's been layered onto the card with 3d foam pads.

Sorry for the really poor quality of photo but it was chucking it down when I tried to take the photo so it was a bit on the dark side!

And my stock of Christmas Cards is coming on very nicely!

Tilda & Co Challenge 30 - Sketch This

This could well be the last challenge for the week as I really need to get on with the thank you's for the staff at nursery as Samuel leaves on 4 September..... but then again.....!!


Anyway, this is the Tilda & Co Challenge 30 which is a sketch:


The Tilda challenge this week is:

Please make your work using the Sketch as your guide,

You can rotate the sketch & even resize the Elements if you would like to,

But do not move the elements around,

As long as we can still see the original sketch layout and can be easily recognised then that is fine!

Please remember your work must include at least one Magnolia image.

So here it is! Pink Petticoat papers which I printed off ages ago and not got round to using them, layered onto lilac and pink card. The oval has been treated to the good old silver gel pen dots. Tilda image courtesy of Jozza's goodie bag from our meet up a few weeks ago, and its been watercoloured. And look - no ribbon!!! Are you shocked?! I've used raffia instead which has been threaded through the heart brad.

Tilda & Co Challenge 29 'It's A Bugs Life!'

I promised some more challenge entries earlier in the week, and this post is the first of two. I now have some Tilda stamped images and after watching Samuel painting with his watercolours on Sunday, I thought 'I can do that'!! So I dug out my trusty watercolour set (last used when at college in errr, cough, 1990) and got going!!

So, the challenge is:

"bugs"

Please show us in your work insects, ants, ladybugs, you name it if its a little creepy bug then show it off this week!

I was really pleased with how this image turned out, and then decided to try and find some backing paper to go with it. Fortunately, I already had printed this one from Vicki's blog - from the Berri-licious collection, teamed it with a paper from the Dovecraft Charcoal Prints Paper pack and I had some left over laminated sheets which I trimmed, rounded the edges and also used.

The dragonfly brads are from Lakeland and hide the glue marks well (I was a bit cack handed with it!) and the perfectly matching gems also hide them at the bottom! Ribbon - 10p bargain bundle from Blackburn market!
