Forgotten Funkies - Paper Blossom!

It's time for another Forgotten Funkies post where the Funky Hand Design Team go back to a forgotten download and showcase it! There are more examples on the team blog if you want a look for more inspiration and how to use this fab download!

The download that we are using is called Paper Blossom and its available for only £3.49 - you get papers, sentiments and lots more for your money! I've made three Mothers Day cards in the same style but using different papers from the download:

I've used a few Spellbinder dies and the letters are cut with a Cuttlebug alphabet die set. I've used a tissue hat from a Christmas cracker for the flower and the others are fancy papers from flower displays - I like to recycle!

DMC Challenge - Getting Funky!

The DCM Challenge this week is the following sketch and it is sponsored by Funky Hand too!

So what better excuse than to use Funky Hand paper!

So here is my take on the sketch:

I've used the Paper Blossoms download - I'd already printed the papers off a while ago with good intentions to use them, but never did! The background has been printed onto vellum and then layered onto the card black. And I do like stripes!! So the two flowers (already printed on the toppers set) were used - the background one has got 'congratulations' written on it. I made the flower from the lovely chocolate brown satin ribbon by cutting small sections, looping them and then sticking with glue dots to the card. A silver daisy brad hides the ends of the ribbon.

The edges of the card and layers have all been inked using fuchsia pink and black.

I Did Some Ironing!

But only in the name of crafting!! I printed quite a few of the Paper Blossoms backing papers a while ago and thought that I'd be good and start to use up what I already have before printing more..... easier said than done!

Anyway, this backing was printed onto vellum and I'd already cut out the sentiment. And because the boys had been waking up at stupid times this week (4am was the earliest) I thought I'd use my time wisely and get some crafting done. Now at that time I can't really think straight, but after 2 cups of tea I was beginning to wake up a little. The design still needed to be simple so I came up with this.

Eyelets used (from Kath) with the ribbon (recycled from a pack of card blanks - funny how I seem to be drawn to the ones with the ribbon tied round them........) and a few gems added on the sentiment for a bit of bling.

So why did I need to iron? The ribbon was suffering from knot fatigue and it needed ironing out! I very rarely iron - as long as the clothes go in the drier or on the line quickly after the washing machine then they don't really need ironing. However, I have been known to go to work (a number of years ago) wearing a blouse that desperately needed ironing, but I was either too lazy or running late (in the days that I left the house at 6am) so just thought I could keep my jacket on and be ok. But the day was a scorcher and I sweated like a pig but did not dare take my jacket off. Learnt my lesson!!

Another Paper Blossoms

I managed to print off the papers from the Paper Blossoms download a while ago and apart from making the first card from them last week I've not really had the time to sit and faff. Ok, actually, I just keep looking at the papers and thinking that I really cannot cut them up as they look sooooo lovely!!

Anyway, I made this one on Saturday night. I'd just completed a custom card order for a 4 year old and 15 Christening Thank You's, and wanted to be able to do something for me for a change!

The much loved chocolate organza ribbon was used again - tied round the card and then a faux bit added underneath to make it look like I can tie really fab bows! The sentiment and backing flower is also from the Paper Blossoms collection. I softened the white part of the sentiment by layering clear vellum over the top half and securing with a pewter daisy brad.

By being able to create what I want really gives me more inspiration. Just wish it came with more time....!

Stamp Something - Sketch Something Challenge

I've never done a layout challenge before, but thought I'd give it a go! So here is my Stamp Something Sketch Challenge!

And this is what I've come up with!

The backing paper is from the Paper Blossoms download from Funky Hand with my Catti-tude stamps from Lakeland stamped with copper ink. Light chalking around the edge of the card and stamped area. Added flower brad and lovely chocolate coloured organza ribbon.

Paper Blossoms - first attempt!

First card made using the Paper Blossoms download from Funky Hand. I printed the papers off ages ago but have just not had the time to do anything with them (apart from cutting out the flower shapes and sentiments!)

The Westie is from the bottomless die cut box that I have with tiny gem bling collar. The edges of the flower have been dotted with a silver gel pen. 'Woof!' cut using my new Sizzix Round-a-Bout alphabet and also dotted around the edges but with a black felt tip. Ribbon from the 99p bargain bin at The Range.


Edges of the card and dog lightly chalked. Really pleased how the card turned out!
