Polkadoodle Challenge Week 24 - Father's Day / Male

The weeks are certainly flying by and its time for a new Polkadoodle challenge!  The theme this week is:

Fathers Day or Male

I've delved into the back catalogue of Polkadoodle cd's and made this cute card - you can make it A4, A5 or A6 sized and its all pre printed too - just cut out and stick!  Plus there is the option of colouring one in yourself.  Its from the Paper Boutique Vol 1 cd and I've simply printed off the A5 pre coloured version, cut it out and glued it together!

The only extra bits I've added is the running stitch around the edges.  So a nice and quick card to make!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Crafting By Design:  Male / Father's Day
Crafting For All Season:  One For The Guys
Sisterhood of Crafters:  All About The Boy
The Perfect Sentiment:  For The Boys
Whimsy Inspiration:  Shaped Cards

Kit:  Paper Boutique Vol 1 from Polkadoodles

#1 Dad

It's my Dad's birthday tomorrow and although I've had plenty of notice (it falls on the same day each year), I'd still managed to forget to make a card!  However, I bought a huge (3,000) amount of digi's in Dustin Pikes recent Blogversary sale and I came across this image within the files so I decided to use it.

I've used my brand new circle Nesties to cut the shape (no more wonky circles for me now!) and I've used the fab Echo Park Mr Campy digi paper pack for the papers. The sentiment is a magazine freebie from ages ago from Ladybug Crafts Ink.  Image coloured with Promarkers.

Just have to remember to take the card with me now when we go over to see them tomorrow!  Won't be the first time I've left something at home and had to post it!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:
Pikes Playground:  Great Outdoors
Card Positioning Systems:  Sketch Followed
My Mums Craft Shop:  The Great Outdoors
Ladybug Crafts Ink:  Birthday

  • Image:  Dustin Pike, coloured with Promarkers
  • Papers:  Echo Park, Mr Campy
  • Dies:  Spellbinder Nestabilities
  • Sentiment:  Magazine freebie

Polkadoodle Challenge 21 - Male Theme & Blog Hop!

Welcome to another Polkadoodle challenge! This week the challenge is

To make something for Fathers Day or Male Related

We are also celebrating our third year Anniversary so we have a hop for you too this week with blog candy at every stop, generously donated by Nikky - the owner and creator of everything Polkadoodle!

During the blog hop there is a hidden message - so you have to hop from blog to blog to find out what it is and what to do!

For my Fathers Day creation, I've used papers from the Fathers Day download from the Polkadoodles website. The letters from the same download were used as a template over a sheet of thick acetate which I then ran through a Cuttlebug embossing folder and dotted a black border with a Sharpies marker. The brads are We R Memory Keepers. Really quick and easy to make!

Onto the blog hop! You really need to follow the correct order otherwise the message will be muddled! If you've arrived at me from COLETTE then you are on the right track! Please leave me a comment before you leave and my word is:

DOWNLOAD

Put this with all the words you have so far and now hop over to SASKIA who will reveal another word! If you get lost, just start again at the Polkadoodle blog!

All the comments left on this post before the closing date will be entered into a draw to win the Double Sprinkles of Kraft cd as shown in the picture below! Generously donated by Nikky! If you don't leave a comment then no chance of winning!

Good luck with the hop and challenge! Both will end at 12noon on Sunday 5 June - and please remember our rules. UPDATE - BLOG HOP WILL END ON SUNDAY 12 JUNE AT 12noon due to issues with leaving comments

Quick Dad

Following on from my earlier post, here is a quick Dad card! It also fits the Quixotic Challenge which is:

One For The Boys

This card has been made using the new Paper Boutique cd from Polkadoodles and all the elements are from it. The wording is decoupaged and opens out to show the printed backing behind.
I've layered and glittered the stars, but in my haste didn't wait for the glue to dry so it looks a little odd at the moment! I'd drawn a fine line around the outside of the letters and that's it! A great quick card that can be printed in either A4, A5 or A6 or even onto the papers of your choice as there are outline templates too.

Shirt and Tie

Time for a male card and this has been made for the Rosie Dee Challenge which is:

Just For Men

All elements (except for white card circle and jute string) are digital downloads from Tinker and Co and the collection is called Vintage Dad. I've printed it all off onto ivory hammered card and then layered the shirt.

The dodgy photo is another taken by my husband and this was the best one of the two as this is shown flat. The other pic he'd stood the card up but wrong way up so it looked really odd. And he didn't realise.....

A bit of inking and corner rounding and a bit of dotting and it's complete!

  • All paperbased elements: Vintage Dad download from Tinker and Co
  • String: My kitchen drawer

Wise Owl

Here is another installment from the very soon to be released Paper Boutique cd from Polkadoodle. I've made this for the Paper Play challenge which is:

Birthday for Someone Special

I've made this for my Dad - it's his birthday at the end of April and I'm quite pleased how organised I am now feeling! All the paperbased elements are from the cd with exception to the lettering as that is plain brown card and I've used my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet set to make the letters.

This is the A6 sized template from the cd and I've only printed out the front of the owl - the reverse comes with it too and is also decoupage. As you can see, there are lots of layers!

A bit of inking and some corner rounding and the card is complete!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Now I know I get plenty of warning for Birthdays as they are once a year, but for some reason I always leave making cards for my own family and friends until the last moment. However, I have an excuse this year! Had quite a few orders for commissioned cards to get through plus to make some samples for Anice for her forthcoming TV appearance (more of that to come!) and also trying to get sufficient Fathers Day cards made (15 June).

Anyway, had a bit of a play with some papers from Now That's Funky plus the stars had 'fallen' into my basket when visiting The Range on Friday and needed to use them (justification and all that!) The sentiment is from a bag of die cuts that I found in the bottomless box of craft bits that I have.
Happy Birthday Dad!
