Daring CardMakers - January Inspirational Challenge

It's time for a new Daring Cardmakers challenge and the theme this week as it is the first Friday of the month, is and inspirational board - just pick at least 3 different elements to include in your creation (colour counts as one choice):

I've used a retired image by From The Heart Stamps which I printed off years ago and never got round to using it and as I'm really wanting (and needing!) to use what I have, this was the perfect image to use.  Papers, lace and twine are all from my stash and stuff that I've had for quite some time too.  I've used Promarkers to colour and then added some half pearls to finish.

I've used the following elements from the inspiration board:  cup, the rich colours, pattern on the lace, lettering and overall wintery feel.

Polkadoodle Challenge - Anything Goes or Add Some Lace or Ribbon

Morning!  Time for a new Polkadoodles challenge.  The theme as always is:

Anything Goes

But the Design Team were challenged to Add Some Lace or Ribbon.  I've used Belle Papillon papers, distressing the edges and also used one of the tags as the focal point.  The butterfly is left over from a previous project and I've curled the wings slightly for extra depth.

Pink, Pearls and Lace

I had originally made this card for the A Day For Daisies challenge but I forgot to blog it and therefore missed the challenge deadline! I've used A Day For Daisies image and coloured it with Promarkers plus added a tiny half pearl to the ribbon on the Mummy duck.

The backing paper is actually recycled wrapping paper from one of my Birthday presents - the paper was too pretty to throw away! The lace too is recycled and is from the scrap store - I just about had enough and the gap is hidden under the image. Ribbon and flowers are from my stash.

The pink pearl heart and the half pearls I bought from Meiflower and the sentiment is an acrylic stamp I got ages ago as a magazine freebie along with others. A bit of fine line black pen dotting around the edges and its complete!

More Wooden Love

To be honest, I've not got a clue what day it is! I'm off work this week as its half term for the boys and they are off school. I've also got Monday off so I have a day to recover as I've had enough all ready! Plus I don't get enough time on the pc to do what I need to do so I'm behind with blogging my cards!

This one is for Sketch 10 for Card Positioning 5th Anniversary Celebrations. I've actually done all the sketches, just not blogged them yet!


I've used a kraft card blank and scraps (and I do mean scraps!) of Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 papers plus another wooden heart from my stash (Matalan), some lace from the scrap store (it's actually underwear lace!) and a random red rose type flower I found in my stash.

Pretty quick to make once I'd decided what I was doing! Jacob had another karting session late afternoon and knocked another half a second off his fastest time! We usually film the boys when they are on track and I've been thinking about getting a You Tube account so I can share. Still at the thinking stage!!

Digi Doodles Guest Designer for July - DIY Flowers

Good news! I've been asked to be the Guest Designer for the remainer of July over at Digi Doodles Shop's Best Challenges! How fab is that! And the challenge for this week is:

Make Your Own Flowers

I've recently found my stash of paper raffia in the cupboard whilst looking for something else and with around 10 colours in the pack and at 99p for 5 metres of each I don't know why I've not used it sooner! So I decided to try my hand at some flowers! They've not quite turned out as neat as I expected but that is probably because I kept getting my finger stuck in the middle when I was winding the strip around it!


The papers are from Funky Hand - Rainbow Polkadots download which is a really fab download as its got, well, all the colours of the rainbow in both positive and negative so it will match any project! I've layered onto black card and inked edges. The lace is actually underware lace and I got it from the scrap store ages ago!

Simple Doodles Challenge 30 - Lace and Pearls

Time for another Simple Doodles challenge! This fortnight the challenge theme is:

Lace and Pearls

I've made a 60th Birthday card in the shape of a bottle using my own template. The top of the bottle is silver 3d paint which I've randomly sqwidged around (yes, that is a word!) I've glittered the sides of the bottle with glitter glue, added the printed text (pc) as the label and then decorated the top of the bottle with ribbon, pins with pearls, string of pearls and some lace.

I've also computer generated the sentiments and attached them under all the ribbons etc.

I Knew I'd Find a Use For It!

Whilst blog hopping I came across another Challenge site - this one is called Quixotic Challenges and the current challenge is:

To Use Lace

I've used a sheet of lace as the backing to this card. It is actually a lace / underwear fabric sample that I picked up on my last trip to the Scrap Store with Lynsey just before Christmas and I knew then that it would be perfect for cards!

The four discs have been printed from the brand new Polkadoodle cd Love, Marriage and More which is launched next Sunday on Create and Craft / Ideal World (more details are in my sidebar).

I've added some lovely red grosgrain ribbon from my stash and a red heart gem. Edges of the card have been inked and also the centre panel, which has a very small dotted line around the edges too.
