Welcome Little One!

At last I've remembered to blog this! The first photo of this book should have been as it was finished but Mr Blogger won't put the photo the right way, so this first one will just have to do as it is!

Anyway, I made this first year book for a little boy, who, secretly, I am pleased he arrived late as I did leave it a little to the last minute. Ok. So I hadn't even started it by the due date. And its not like I didn't have enough warning!


All the papers throughout are from V Funky. The giraffe image is from Lost In Paper Scraps which I have coloured with watercolour pencils. All the sentiments are computer generated as I didn't trust my own handwriting!

I've used buttons and bits from my stash as I've gone along. None of the pages were planned out regarding layout - it just happened!

Each page is a different month or event. The 'blank' bits in the middle are for where the photos are to be added at each stage.

So that's it! Congratulations to Alex and I'll be over for a cuddle at some point (Sebastian not you!)

Birthday Fairy!

And I made this card last week, but have just realised that I've not blogged it yet! I made it for Nema who was 4 last week and we went to her fancy dress Birthday party at the weekend. Sorry about the harsh lighting - kitchen lights I'm afraid due to the dark dark days!

I've used backing papers from a Funky Hand download Hearts and Flowers - it is ages since I used these papers so it was really nice to use them again! I've added a bit of random doodling around the edges of the card and the circle. The image which is on acetate, is a Dustin Pike and I've glittered the wings.

Purple satin ribbon from my stash and the letters were freebies ages ago from a magazine.

Out of Space

Oh, no! It's another Dustin Pike image - well two actually! The Funky Fairy challenge is:

Transport

And I do think that an alien space craft is a form of transport! The two images are Dustin Pike which I have coloured with watercolour pencils and it's my scrawl on the little floating space rock sign. The two papers are from the Boys and Girls collection and the spotty one, in case you are wondering is supposed to be a moon or similar type of planet.... I've inked edges and then doodled a fine black line around them. The space ship and floating rock are added via 3d foam pads. I did think of making them wobbly with acetate, but decided against it in the end.

I've added some liquid pearls to the lights around the middle of the spaceship. Sorry about the blue cast on the photos - the card is actually more purple in real life - the lighting recently has just been pants during the day!

Another Dinosaur!

I do like Dustin Pike's dinosaurs and this challenge was no exception! The Dare U 2 Digi Stamp challenge is to use a digi image and also:

Punched Shapes or Die Cuts

The image is Dustin Pike coloured with watercolour pencils and I've chalked the background to make it less white. The yellow and orange papers are from It's Funky Too - the orange paper and the green have been textured with a Fiskars texture plate (frantic minutes rubbing the image on!) and then I've pulled an ink pad across the top so that the stones stand out more.



The sentiment was a freebie Papermania stamp set from a magazine a while ago and I've also inked this to tone it down a little. The die cuts are the bones from a Sizzlit dog set. And although I know that this dinosaur is a herbivore, well, I didn't have any die cuts or punches of leaves, so I've had to go with the bones. Just pretend you don't know that!

Train and Colours

The Digitial Ink challenge this week is a colour combination:

I've used a lovely Crafty Downloads image which I resized to fit my card. The blue backing paper is a digital download from A Work In Progress but I can't remember which collection, and the stripy one was a magazine freebie. And I've had that one ages too so can't remember where it is from - sorry!

I've coloured the image with felt tips plus a bit of white gel pen highlighting because the colours of the backing papers are so strong, I thought that watercolour pencils would be a little insipid. I've inked the edges of the papers with some really quite faded black ink which I refuse to throw away as I've found that by dropping a little coca cola on the pad it revives it enormously! The red grosgrain ribbon is from my stash.

I've had a real busy weekend this week. For a change. Hope to be able to show you some of the highlights of it some point over the next few days. Which, incidentally, is also going to be a busy one and I'm out nearly every night this week.....!

Cake!

Carol's Sketch this fortnight is this: And I have made this card! I had to make a few cards for family for my Mum's 60th Birthday (which was yesterday!) and this is one of them.

The chocolate cupcake is a decoupage printable from Candy Doodles and I've used it a number of times before and probably will a million more because I like it so much! The backing paper is also from Candy Doodles as too are the numbers. I've glittered the cake with glitter glue and the ribbons are from my stash.

This was such a great sketch to work with and was one of those that I knew exactly what I was going to make as soon as I saw the sketch! There will be another one on Wednesday, so I'll be there to see what it will be!

Charmed I'm Sure!

It's been a while again since I've entered a Dotties World challenge and because I found a number of charms in my stash, I thought this challenge would be perfect as it is:

I've used a pre coloured Dottie image (to save a bit of time as I think I've managed to loose some somewhere this week) and the colours from this particular collection from Funky Daze matched it perfectly!

The little charm was given to me by Nikky (fanks!) and goes really well with the image. You'll have to excuse the slightly out of focus charm in the picture below - but at least the organza ribbon is in focus eh?!

So there you go - a quick and easy card!

Froggy

The current Scrappy Frogs Challenge has a theme which is:

I've coloured this cute Dustin Pike image with watercolour pencils, shaped and inked the edges and then layered it onto papers from Funky Daze (which you'll be seeing more of as I do like this particular colour collection!)

Again, I've rounded edges and inked them plus added a bit of doodling around the edge of the card. The ribbon is from my stash - I bought it from a craft shop earlier in the summer which was relocating - I got around 10 metres of this ribbon for £1! Bargain!

I was going to add a sentiment but couldn't decide what to add, so it didn't get one in the end! Excuse the slight warm cast on the photos - I'm not seeing a lot of daylight these days so having to resort to using the halogen lights in the kitchen!

Polkadoodle Challenge 20 - Sketch

It's Friday again and time for another Polkadoodle Challenge! Nikky is on Create and Craft at 11am this morning demonstrating her brand new double cd - Not For Girls! As the title suggests, it is a cd just for me although I do think that some of the papers and elements could be used for girlie cards - just no pink involved!

So, for week 20 Challenge, it is a sketch, and the DT were asked to use the Crimbley Doodles Christmas download.
I must admit, I struggled a little when I saw the sketch, but then I had a little think and decided to use an acetate card and then add the elements on! So all the paperbased elements are from the download and I've kept the loopy star top to the trees by making my own with wire and silver confetti stars.

I've not got a clue who I'll send this to as I'd have to be creative as to where I write the message!

Get Funky! Challenge 3 - Halloween

It's the first of October so it means another Get Funky! Challenge! Thank you to all who entered my Two Little Boys Challenge in September - there were some great entries! To find out who I picked as the winner go to Get Funky!


This month it is Allison's turn to set the challenge and she loves Halloween, so the theme this month is:

Halloween

Rules are simple - simply use one Funky Hand product on your creation to be in with a chance of winning a very generous £20 gift voucher to spend on Funky Hand products! You have the whole of October to enter!

For my sample, I've made a gift box. The template was a free download from Papercraft Inspirations (this is the small box and it prints out over two sheets of A4). I've used papers from It's Funky Too - and I've printed a different pattern on both sides.


The outside of the box has been decorated with various die cuts - Sizzix ghosts, Round-a-Bout alphabet set and a Sizzlit tombstone. Edges have been inked in either silver or black ink for a bit more spookiness.

I've attached the ghosts to the box with strips of acetate so they jump out!

The ribbon is from my stash and just the perfect shade of orange too! The little black bats are confetti, and I'm sure I bought it from the pound shop a few years ago. Or probably Tescos in the post Halloween sale!

And inside the box -

I've filled it with spooky pumpkins and ghoulish eyes - a net of each £1 from, yes, the pound shop!! They make the box quite heavy, so I think I'm going to have to eat a few.....!!
