Using Scraps

I really don't like to throw anything away and have various boxes to keep all my scraps in. However sometimes these boxes become rather unruly and I make it a priority to use something from them! For this card  I used offcuts of card stock for the base - its the long thin strip cut from a sheet of A4 from making a 13.5cm square card - and the embossed panel is a piece of scrap as well as the die cut words.

All the papers are from Funky Hand V Funky CD - Cottage Linens and I've used my trusty Spellbinders for the circles (long gone are the days when I used to use a compass and hand cut them!) plus some card candy.

The die cut words are Clearly Besotted dies and I've had to be creative with the 'day' as it was part of Birthday but I chopped it down!

Spring Moments Gift Jar and Banner Card

And now for something a little bit different!  I've had this plastic jar a while and knew it would come in useful at some point!  I've used papers from Funky Hand - V Funky - Spring Moments and made a removable cover for the front, a flower tag for the top of the jar and also a banner thank you card.

My eldest son has written the gift tag and I've attached it to the top of the jar with a funky flower and ribbon.  I've also added glass 'confetti' to the flowers on the pattern.

The banner has been made with left over scraps of card and I've used letters from a word book as templates, threaded ribbon through the tops and used glossy accents as glue to the reverse to stop the ribbon from moving.

Chocolate, Coffee and Cards:  Must Say Thank You

Sometimes the simple ideas are the most striking!  I do enjoy using my X Cut stars dies and here I've combined them with the Citrus Blues collection from the V Funky CD from Funky Hand.  A really great CD and only £1!!

Oh, and plenty of foam pads! Plus Clearly Besotted dies cut from scraps of white card.

Blue For Boys - Dad

Following on from my previous post last week, I've used the same paper collection on V Funky - Blue For Boys and used the Dad topper this time.  Again, overlaid it with a slightly smaller version (happy accident!) and did a bit of paper distressing!  I've added glossy accents to the top layer of the word to give it a bit of texture.

All embellishments are from my stash including the very cute 3d car charm!  Don't forget that the CD is only £1 - an absolute bargain!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Blue For Boys - Mum

Another set of great papers from the V Funky cd!  I've used the Blue For Boys collection - and printed two sheets A5 size (the top and bottom bands are snipped in half) and then used two of the ATC sheets.

I originally printed the Mum tile direct from the cd and then printed it for a second time via the 'open' option on the cd rather than the 'run' option.  I didn't realise until I was about to layer then up that the second print was slightly smaller than the first.  However, it looks fine!  Everything else is from my stash.

Watch out for more goodness from V Funky this month!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Get Creative:  For Mum / Mother's Day

Dude Time Doodles - Challenge 17 - Sketch

It's the first Wednesday of the month which means that it is a sketch challenge at Dude Time Doodles! The sketch is underneath my card and it is a great, easy sketch to work with! I've used Sushi 2 as my image and he's been coloured with Promarkers.

The papers are from Funky Hand - V Funky cd and I've simply layered them onto some pearlescent green paper (donation from Lynsey!) and added some fishy beads plus some faux stitching. So you see - easy sketch and quick card to make! You've got to join in! The only stipulations are that you follow the sketch, link it up by the deadline and make it a male themed card! Easy eh?! This week we are sponsored by Creative Inspirations Paint and I recommend you click on the link to have a peek!!

For more details on how to enter the challenge, please visit the challenge blog where you can also see the rest of the Design Team creations! Good luck!

Nearly Forgot!

Not sure if it is my age or if its because I have a lot on at the moment and seem to be spending less and less time at home. Which means less and less time crafting. However, if I time it right, I can fit card orders in with challenges. Which, to me, is the best of both worlds!

Anyway, the Sketch Saturday challenge is the following sketch:

And I was asked to make a special Christening card for a work colleague for her God Son. So here it is! The image is a freebie from Lost In Paper Scraps, coloured with watercolour pencils. All backing papers are from V Funky (yes, you have seen this combination many times before, but for me it just really does work!!) with computer generated sentiments.

The ribbons are from my stash as too the little silver teddy bear charm. The glittery bible has had the cross 'coloured' with liquid pearls so it stands out a little and is also from my stash (I have a little bag of these at the bottom of my die cut box!)

And that's it! My work colleague loved it, which is good!

Welcome Little One!

At last I've remembered to blog this! The first photo of this book should have been as it was finished but Mr Blogger won't put the photo the right way, so this first one will just have to do as it is!

Anyway, I made this first year book for a little boy, who, secretly, I am pleased he arrived late as I did leave it a little to the last minute. Ok. So I hadn't even started it by the due date. And its not like I didn't have enough warning!

All the papers throughout are from V Funky. The giraffe image is from Lost In Paper Scraps which I have coloured with watercolour pencils. All the sentiments are computer generated as I didn't trust my own handwriting!

I've used buttons and bits from my stash as I've gone along. None of the pages were planned out regarding layout - it just happened!

Each page is a different month or event. The 'blank' bits in the middle are for where the photos are to be added at each stage.

So that's it! Congratulations to Alex and I'll be over for a cuddle at some point (Sebastian not you!)

My First Year

The Digital Ink Challenge this week is a recipe:

Two designer papers plus 3 brads / buttons or eyelets

I've been making something for a while (and I hope she doesn't see this just yet!) but this is the front cover - the remainder of the pages are almost finished - once they are I will share it with you.

Anyway, it's part of a first year book for a baby boy who is due any day.

The image is a wonderful freebie download from Dawn Moore - Lost in Paper Scraps and it is such a lovely image that I've used it a number of times. It's been coloured with watercolour pencils. The papers are Funky Hand - V Funky, which I have cornered the edges and then doodled a fine black line around the edges.

The buttons are from my stash and I've threaded some pale blue organza ribbon through the holes. The sentiment is computer generated and I've inked the edges and drawn a fine black line around them too.
I'm really pleased with how the First Year Book is coming along and I've managed to use my Nesties too!
