Aliens Have Furry Yellow Legs

A great challenge this week over on Charisma Cardz:

Something For The Kids

Now I don't usually struggle when it comes to making cards for boys, I seem to have problems with girlie ones. Probably because I think in blue and greens with having two boys!! I've made this alien card from a digi sheet bought from CraftsUPrint (yes, I think I'm becoming addicted but there are some really fab stuff if you look!)

I've added a black background and done a little doodling around the edges and simply layered up elements with foam pads, a little bit of glitter glue some wobbly eyes and a gold star on the space rocket.

And yes, aliens do have furry yellow legs. Didn't you know?!

Out of Space

Oh, no! It's another Dustin Pike image - well two actually! The Funky Fairy challenge is:

Transport

And I do think that an alien space craft is a form of transport! The two images are Dustin Pike which I have coloured with watercolour pencils and it's my scrawl on the little floating space rock sign. The two papers are from the Boys and Girls collection and the spotty one, in case you are wondering is supposed to be a moon or similar type of planet.... I've inked edges and then doodled a fine black line around them. The space ship and floating rock are added via 3d foam pads. I did think of making them wobbly with acetate, but decided against it in the end.

I've added some liquid pearls to the lights around the middle of the spaceship. Sorry about the blue cast on the photos - the card is actually more purple in real life - the lighting recently has just been pants during the day!

Recycled Alien

Now it's been a long long while since I entered a Funky Fairy challenge. I've been looking over the last few weeks but just never managed the time to get anything done. BUT! I have managed this weeks challenge which is a:

Recycle Challenge

Now I am all for recycling old stuff - usually bits of ribbon or buttons or stuff from other cards etc, so I thought this one would be easy. Well it was!

My inspiration came from a slight computer hiccup at work on Friday. My lovely / useless computer decided to have a little time out and shut down. It takes an age to restart as it is on a shared network, so whilst it was getting its act together, I had a little clear out on my desk. I found a presentation that had been bound with a sheet of textured navy blue card - so that gave me the inspiration for this card!

I've used papers from Boys and Girls (the boys bit obviously!) and the stars originally were Christmas tags so I've covered them with the Funky Fairy paper, inked the edges and then doodled a thin black line around the edges. The navy blue recycled card has got a doodled white gel pen line around the edges too.

The alien is from my stash - I've added wobbly eyes and chalked him a little. The sentiment is handwritten with the white gel pen as my stamping was not good!

I've got a thing for doing boys cards at the moment but with fab papers like this - long may it reign!

Nope, It's Not A Frog!

I made the mistake of asking Jacob if he liked the card I had made for the Daring Cardmaker Challenge. He said it looked like a froggy. So I pointed out to him that it was an alien, standing on our world with a rocket in the background. I don't think he believed me though!

And I must admit that this was totally influenced by Jozza's flying alien card! The alien is a die cut from my stash, which I have chalked and added wobbly eyes. I made the world myself from some offcuts of card, also chalked. The rocket is a Sizzlets diecut, cut twice from two different types of gold card, layered and then I've handcut the flames. The little windows I've glitter glued with silver but it doesn't show up too well.

I've embossed the black card with Swiss Dots and lightly ran a silver inkpad over it. Until I dropped it in the middle, but fortunately you can't really see the mistake!

Funky Fairy Challenge 33 - Sketch 4

I don't think I'm going to be lucky for the third time on the Funky Fairy Challenge as I've won it for the last two weeks! But I do enjoy sketches and just had to enter!

I asked for the Boys and Girls backing papers download on my recent win (the last one I got Pinkie Pops) so decided to use those papers. I did have a hard time choosing which ones to use for the sketch!

I've had the alien die cuts for ages but never done anything with them and the papers from the download really fitted well! The majority of the layered edges have been inked in black as too the alien which has had wobbly eyes added and has been layered using 3d foam pads. The sentiment is computer generated and the gold stars are actually table confetti but I think are too good for that purpose so I use them on my creations!
