Monster!

I hope you can see just how much fun I had making this! I used just one paper from the Wake Up Year section on Funky Seasons - its not quite a full sheet of A4 and I printed directly onto some linen effect cardstock so the linen effect of the papers works really well with the cardstock (hope you followed that!)

Eyes are made from large wobbly eyes and two different inked circles - teeth are punch hearts and I've just made the dip in the centre longer.  The mouth flaps open to give the card a bit more character.

Letters are Sizzix die cuts and I've glittered them.  Cute eh?!

Simply Create Too Challenge 32 - St Patrick's Day / Green

It's time for a new Simply Create Too challenge and the theme for the fortnight is:

St Patrick's Day or Green

I've gone for the green theme as you can see and made a rather clean and simple card!  I've printed the digi from Papercraft Junkies directly onto the card stock and coloured him in with Promarkers.  This one is called Monster 5!

I've added glossy accents to his eyes (all four of them!) and the sentiment was printed directly onto the card too.  The button I found in my stash and the cord is elastic and came from a shoe tag!

Monster Birthday

I do like bargains and sales. And I especially enjoyed buying around 3,000 Dustin Pike images for $20 (just over £13) at the weekend. And here is one cutie who was in the haul!

I've coloured him with Promarkers and added glossy accents to his eyes (you can't really see as it was rather early this morning when I took the photo!) and added his balloon to a length of wire that I had wrapped around a pencil and it boings around quite a bit!


The monster is the front of the card, and the patterned paper you see behind is the inside of the card.

I've printed quite a few of the images off from the sale, so watch out for those in the future!

Get Funky Challenge - Happy Happy Birthday!

It's my turn to show my creation for the current Get Funky challenge which is

Happy Happy Birthday!

I've used papers and digi images from the new cd Happy Happy Birthday. The great thing about the digi images is that you can enlarge them to A4 size without any loss of quality - the number 6 is around A5 size and I've selected one of the papers which can be printed at the same time as the digi image - you can overlay them.

I've added the number six to the card base with foam pads so it stands proud a little, then added the sentiment (outlined with a promarker) and cute little monster also with foam pads.

The monster has wobbly eyes and I've added glossy accents to the balloon. A bit of faux stitching and the card is complete! I can see me using this cd a lot - especially this combination as there are coloured and uncoloured numbers 0 to 9 so great for quick cards!

Simple Doodles Challenge 32 - Photo Inspiration

Welcome to another Simple Doodles challenge! The theme for the challenge is a photo inspiration:

As you can see, I've focussed in on the candles as they are a striking teal colour! I've used the Simple Doodles monster and sentiment as my focal point, and he's been coloured with Promarkers and attached to the card base with a strip of acetate so he boings around!

The brown kraft type backing paper is actually a sheet of brown paper that I recycled from some packing. All the papers are from a mega 300 sheet double sided case of 12x12 papers from a company called MemoryStor that I picked up from CostCo. My brother took me for a quick shopping trip a few weeks ago and I just happened to spy the case! All for just under £23.50 too! It works out at 8p a sheet which I think is a real bargain!

Cute or Scary?!

I've made this little monster from my own template and used papers from the new Funky Hand download Spooky Dookie which has papers that can be used not just for Halloween!

The card fits with the Let's Ink It Up challenge which asks for

Halloween Colours

The only bit of ink (if you don't count the liberal amounts around the edges of the monster!) is the little Stampin' Up sentiment stamp which was sent to me in a swop by Jenny (thank you!)


I've added some big wobbly eyes rescued from an old project Jacob made at nursery and then hand cut all the other shapes. The spots are from a hole punch - my cutting out skills are not that good!

Big Yellow Monster

The Incy Wincy challenge this week is

And I just could not resist colouring in this Dawn Moore image in bright yellow with Promarkers! I've also used a yellow card blank plus an offcut of blue with yellow dots card (Funky Daze from Funky Hand).

The dark blue aperture card was from a previous project and I've simply outlined the edges with a white gel pen. The buttons and twine are from my stash (don't look too carefully as I've tied it a little too tight!) The sentiment is computer generated.

A good card for either a boy or a girl!

Simple Doodles Challenge 19 - Only For Dad

Welcome to another Simple Doodles Challenge! For the next two weeks the theme is:

Only For Dad

So great chance to make a Father's Day Card!

I've used a Simple Doodles digital image which has been coloured with Promarkers. I've used papers from Funky Daze (quite possibly one of my most favourite collections - Son Day!)

The snaps are WR Memory Keepers and I bought around 35 packs for under £8 earlier in the year and had forgotten I had them (well, they are in a box under the table!!) so thought I'd better start using them! The jute string is from my kitchen drawer and the sentiment is computer generated.

Simple Doodles Challenge 18 - Anything But a Card

It's time for another great Simple Doodles Challenge and this time I've set the challenge!! Which is:

Anything But A Card

A while ago I was contacted by a representative from Photo Paper Direct asking me if I would test and review some of their products. I was sent a sample of magnetic photo paper, sticker sheets and also T-shirt Transfer sheets. So far I've only used the T-shirt transfer sheets and here is what I made!

Apologies for the gappy toothy child but I needed a model! The sheet was really easy to use - I simply printed off the digital image I wanted (remembering to flip it to mirror image) and then coloured it with felt tips. I did try and use Promarkers but the surface of the sheet disintegrated.

After I'd finished colouring I cut around the image leaving a thin border. I then ironed this flat onto the t-shirt until the iron icon changed to brown.

Once it had cooled down I peeled off the backing sheet and then re-ironed it with a sheet of greaseproof paper between the iron and t-shirt. Left it for 24 hours and then washed it, inside out, and then popped it in the tumble drier.

Easy peasy!!


As you can see, the colours are really vibrant on the image! So not only have I managed to use the iron (on two separate occasions) I've also created friction between the boys as they are now fighting over who has the t-shirt!

So check back over the weekend as I plan to use the second sheet I was sent to make another t-shirt transfer and this time I'll blog it as a step by step tutorial. Edited to add - the tutorial will follow next weekend as Mr Blogger has really messed up my pictures and I'm on the verge of going on holiday and have not got enough time to sort it out!!

You can buy the packs of t-shirt transfer paper for just under £8 for 20 A4 sheets, and their service is fantastic!

Purple Wobbly Monster

Which is fast approaching! I've been asked if I'm taking cards into nursery so I thought I'd better make some more for the occasion!



Spotty backing paper and the folded paper strip are from Funky Daze by Funky Hand and the digi image is a freebie and by GTC's Crafty Corner. I've coloured it with felt tips and some white gel pen for highlighting. It's attached to the card via a strip of acetate so it boings around.

I've made a little charm from a heart bead and some other bits and bobs and it hangs from a peice of ribbon that matches the colour of the monster perfectly! Sentiment is handwritten.

Have A Monster Of A Day!

I've been asked to be a Guest Designer for March over on Simple Doodles, but as we are still in February, here is my entry for the current challenge which is:

Add Some Background

It asked for us to use either our own made backgrounds, designer paper or embossing, so I went with the latter two!

The lovely backing paper is from Dreams Come True from Funky Hand. I've embossed the silver panel with a Cuttlebug folder and the image and sentiment are from Simple Doodles. Colouring has been done with my felt tips.

A little bit of doodling around the edges and it's finished!

Wobbly Monster!

Apologies for the strange pinkness that has crept into the photo - it went like this when I saved it!! This is for the Charisma Cardz challenge which is:

I've used a wonderful little monster image from Simple Doodles plus I've been asked to be Simple Doodle's Guest Designer for March - yay!! Pop over to the blog as there are lots of lovely little freebies on there and the challenges are every fortnight so loadsa time to enter!

I am really pleased how this card turned out - my initial focus was the backing paper and its from the fantastic new cd from Funky Hand - Dreams Come True and I've rounded the edges and doodled a line. I then coloured the image with these colours in mind and I've used felt tips and a white gel pen for highlights.

The monster is actually attached to a piece of acetate so that it wobbles, however I asked my husband to take the photo as I'm at work during the day so that is why you only have this view!

The wording has been cut with shiny green card (I knew I'd use it one day!) and with my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet set. The image actually comes with a sentiment but I couldn't place it right on the card hence me doing my own.

I've used one of my Spellbinder Nestabilities dies to draw the shape in the centre and the velvet ribbon is from my stash.

Your Little Monster

Along with the Crafty Creations challenge this week, there was a blog hop - which, I of course participated in! Not easy when trying to fend off two kids who want my attention, but I completed it!

And now here is my entry into the challenge which is:

Celebration

I've gone for a Mother's Day card as I need to start stocking up on these! I've used papers from Dreams Come True from Funky Hand and a bit of faux stitching and dotting around edges.

I've used a Nesties as an aperture for the little monster sticker to peep through! The sticker came as part of a big sheet from the Pound shop a while ago - they are all slightly raised plastic (if you see what I mean!) and also in the pack is a sheet of normal stickers that have shiny bits on. I'm doing really well with the descriptions aren't I?!!

The lettering is a Cuttlebug alphabet set - Baby Face and I've just noticed that I've missed the apostrophe off, so will have to add it before it gets bought!

Monster Birthday

A quick and simple card for Lexi's Challenge current challenge which is:

One For The Boys - Blue and Green

The monster is a 3d sticker from a pack that I bought from the pound shop ages ago. It's been layered onto a scrap of blue card and then added to blue and green printed digi papers from Back To Nature from Polkadoodles.


I've rounded some edges, inked them and then doodled a line around plus I've hand written the sentiment (as you can tell - I was surprised I got it central!) The buttons are from my stash.

I've got loads of these monster stickers and I like the layout of this, so probably will get to use them more often now!

This Monster Loves You!

This will be the second of three posts today only because I've had a burst of energy and creativity over the last few days and I'm managing to enter the challenges by the skin of my teeth!

And continuing with my Valentine cards mission, here is another one! The printed backing paper is from a Funky Hand pack 'Funky Females' and the silver paper is from my stash. The image is from Lost In Paper Scraps and I've coloured it with watercolour pencils.

The ribbon is from my stash too and I've made the heart pin by literally stuffing a pink pony bead over the pin head and then added some seed beads on the ends.

So you now know what a monster in love looks like!

Monster Five

The Pink Elephant challenge this week is:

Favourite Christmas Colour Combo

However, although I've used the red and green colours, I've not made a Christmas card but rather a Birthday card for a little boy who has his Birthday over Christmas!

I've used papers from Now That's Funky and have used wordart to create the large letters and then cut them out, highlighting the edges with a Sharpie black marker.

The monster stickers are from a pack I bought a while ago from the Poundshop - one sheet of big bubble monster stickers and one of these shiny ones. I've added wobbly eyes to both the monsters. The silver jump rings are from my stash.

Boo!

The ABC Challenge this week is:

W is for Windows

And because I treated myself to the bargain of all bargains (oh yes!) last week as Dustin Pike had a mega sale I am feeling the need to use his images a lot. Maybe not so far this week, but there will be more - I promise!

And because I found the fab £1.25 (half price) brush felt tips in Tesco last week and I am liking the effect they have (and also rediscovering decent felt tips and shading) I needed to use them!


So, I resized this image from Dustin Pike, printed it onto decent card stock and then coloured it in with felt tips, a little bit of watercolour pencils over the top and then a smattering of white gel pen over the top for extra highlights. I also used the pen for doodling a border around the edges of the card and for writing the sentiment.

The black card is from my stash.

And that's it! The claws actually hang over the edges of the card a little. Only because I cut the card too small. Me and measuring are not always on the same number......

Homer / Lisa Simpson Monster...

The Cupcake Craft Challenge this week is

Monsters

And I've inadvertently made one that looks like a cross between Homer and Lisa Simpson....

Ah well! I freehand drew the shape onto some lovely bright yellow slightly textured card, chalked it and drew a wobbly thin black line around the edges. The spikes and spots were made in the same way. And I dabbed a bit of glitter glue here and there for a bit of bling.

The teeth were cut from white card and also chalked.

Samuel has been invited to a joint Birthday party mid April so one card down, one to go!

Have A Monster Birthday!

The second Creative Card Crew Challenge is:

NO PAPER - KEEP IT CLEAN
Now, before you all panic, it is easier than it sounds. We all love our designer papers, don't we? But you can also achieve some wonderful results when you don't use the papers. So why not give it a try? You just might amaze yourself.

I'd bought the funky monster dome plastic stickers earlier in the week from the pound shop (amongst some other needy craft supplies!) and wanted to make a monster card with them so this challenge fitted in perfectly! I've used card from my stash - a smaller circle in the contrasting colour is layered onto a larger circle, all inked with my very fading black ink pad and then a strip of bright orange card added with rounded corners.

The sentiment has been stamped in black ink with a mini Studio G alphabet set. I've a lot more of these stickers in the pack so you may see some more of them!
