It's time for a new Colour Crazy Challenge and the theme as always is

Anything Goes

This week we are sponsored by Angie Blom and I've used this lovely Dear Sweet Friend digi and I've used Promarkers to colour.  Papers are from my stash along with the ribbon and pearls.  Sentiment has been stamped from a set I have.

Good luck with the challenge!

Polkadoodles Challenge - Spring Flowers

It's time for a new Polkadoodles challenge and the theme as always is

Anything Goes

The DT were challenged to make a Mother's Day card with Spring Flowers.  I've used one of the pre-coloured Darling Buds images and layered her onto a vellum oval cut with a Posydoodle Basics Oval die.  I've also cut a tag using the Posydoodles Basics Tag die - the sentiment comes with the Darling Buds download.

The background is a Cuttlebug embossing die and the ribbon is from my stash.  Good luck with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

From The Heart Stamps Sketch Challenge 164

Time for a new sketch with a double twist challenge at From The Heart Stamps! Don't forget that you can either follow the sketch or either of the two twists or any combination of the three that you want, the only stipulation is that you must use a FTHS. If you don't have any of the images, pop over to the store as there are some freebies available.

Plus, there is a progressive Stamp of the Month challenge - if you buy the image for February, you will receive the one for March for free and so on. Hogs and Kisses is the SOTM for February and a new one will be available for March  The sketch is below which I've used and also both the twists!

I've used Birdbath Chick, coloured with Promarkers and a little glitter glue and then cut the image with an X Cut oval die and then cut the card base with the largest die.  All the 'bubbles' are from a fab bubble plate metal die I bought from ebay - there are quite a few different sized bubbles and great for a card like this and uses up scrap card from my stash.

I've used a Sizzix scalloped edge die and hand wrote the sentiment.

The sketch is above - good luck with the challenge!

I'd like enter the following:

Spring Whispers

This is a really quick and easy card to make - I've used the 'extra's' tab on the Funky Seasons cd - these are the ATC's and you get a sheet of different patters which are perfect to use as scraps.

This one uses the Spring Whispers section and I've simply used a few different dies - X Cut for the circles, Clearly Besotted for the 'mum' word and Cuttlebug for the flowers, plus covered chipboard butterflies with scraps of papers plus half pearls.

Add some ink and a gel pen to dot around the edges and card is complete!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Dragonfly Dreams:  Add Some Embellishments
Robyns Fetish:  Purple and Green
Allsorts:  Flowers and Pearls
My Time To Craft:  Special Lady

Polkadoodle Challenge - Spring Is In The Air

It's time for a new Polkadoodle challenge and the theme for the fortnight (the challenges now last for 2 weeks!) is Spring Is In The Air.

I've taken the theme literally this week and made an exploding box with springy MUM letters! The papers are from Pen and Paper Circle issue 9 and I've used a Sizzix die to cut the letters and then added them to some craft wire which has been very much glued underneath the rolled flowers. I've added some clear doodle drop gems to the centres for extra sparkle - and they are reduced in the shop too!

I've also used a Sizzix scalloped tag die and handwritten the sentiment. The ribbons are all from my stash and I was rather pleased that they matched the papers perfectly!

Good luck with the challenge - closing date is 4 April.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Divas By Design: Flowers
Paper Shelter: More than 5 Flowers
The Three Muses: Spring
Ladybug Crafts Ink: For A Special Lady
Papertake Weekly: Special Lady

I cut them all out and then layered up with glue and foam pads. The butterflies are from my stash - they are chipboard and I coloured them with Promarkers plus added half pearls for extra detail. I handwrote the sentiment with a Sizzix tag. I've also added stickles to most of the flowers for a bit of bling on Mother's Day!

Forgotten Funkies - Paper Blossom!

It's time for another Forgotten Funkies post where the Funky Hand Design Team go back to a forgotten download and showcase it! There are more examples on the team blog if you want a look for more inspiration and how to use this fab download!

The download that we are using is called Paper Blossom and its available for only £3.49 - you get papers, sentiments and lots more for your money! I've made three Mothers Day cards in the same style but using different papers from the download:

I've used a few Spellbinder dies and the letters are cut with a Cuttlebug alphabet die set. I've used a tissue hat from a Christmas cracker for the flower and the others are fancy papers from flower displays - I like to recycle!

Pretty In Purple

I bought some pre coloured Lili of the Valley toppers ages ago from their ebay shop - I can't actually find the toppers to link to them so I'm presuming that they are now discontinued.  Anyway, I bought them and then they have largely sat untouched and as I had a tidy up just after New Year (to make room for Samuel's trophy cabinet - he now has 14 trophies in 12 months!) I found them again.

So, wanting to make a quick card I used one:

Papers are Dovecraft Back to Basics, the flowers are from my stash (they actually were part of a garland I bought a few years ago from a charity shop as the flowers came apart easily and were pretty!)  Ribbon is from my stash - the wider one underneath is actually from Lidl!

I've hand written the tag and attached it with some embroidery thread.  You can just about see the vellum circle underneath the image - the edges have been dotted with liquid pearls.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

I Heart Sketches:  Sketch followed
Crafts 4 Eternity:  Marvelous Mums
Stampin With The Dragon:  Anything Goes
Dutch Dare:  Girls Rule
Sincerely Yours:  Mothers Day

Simply Create Too Challenge 31 - Mother's Day / Female

Welcome to the Midway Extra point for the current Simply Create Too challenge.  The theme this fortnight is:

Mother's Day or Female

I've gone for the Mother's Day option and used papers from Dovecraft - Back To Basics 2 6x6 stack (which were also a bargain - half price at £1.49!)  I don't usually use green in female cards - quite happy in male cards but for some reason not something I go for in feminine cards!

I've used a fab digi from Jellypark - Two Mice 'For You' which was a previous freebie if you were a Jellypark Club member - its free to join!  I've coloured it with Promarkers and added some tiny half pearls to the corner.

I've made the banner with some lilac card I found and layered it onto an offcut of the green spotty paper.  I handwrote the letters and then added faux brads with a black marker and daubed liquid pearls over the top.  The ribbon and embroidery thread are from my stash.

Good luck with the challenge - for more details and how to enter, pop over to Simply Create Too!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Get Funky Challenge - Celebrating Spring

It's my turn to hopefully provide some inspiration for the current Get Funky! challenge which has been set by the very talented Kathy and the theme for the month is:

Celebrating Spring

And as always the main rule is that you MUST use a Funky Hand product in your creation. If you don't have anything Funky Hand (why not?!) there is always the Funky Freebie to be snagged each month that fits the challenge theme perfectly.
I made my Mum a gift bag and matching card with the offcuts. And she was rather impressed! The papers are all from Retro Fun download - this is a wordbook download but it comes with some A4 sheets which I've used. Plus the Flutterby Flowers download.

A Martha Stewart punch has been used for the strips and I cut the lettering with my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet dies. I actually stuck the strips upside down on my card by mistake and by the time I realised it was too late. Ah well!

Good luck with the challenge - you have until midnight GMT on 14 April to enter and please don't forget to use a Funky Hand product!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Kathy's Waffle Sketch File: Sketch Followed
My Grafico: Easter / Spring
Paper Creations Ink: Things With Wings
Truly Madly Crafty: Colour Inspiration
Always Something Creative: Spring Awakening

  • All papers: Retro Fun download
  • Butterflies: Flutterby Flowers download

Black, White and Red

It's Mothers Day and I've received two lovely cards from the boys - both made them at school; a large flower that Samuel made with a 'guess who' phrase on each of the petals with the answer under the flower centre (answer is me!) and a little peat pot wrapped in lots of red cellophane from Jacob. I'm hoping the pot will grow - he assures me that there is a seed in it!

So, for my Tiddly Inks card this week which asks for:

Red, White and Black

I've reused some of the red cellophane! I used the second smallest Nesties die and scrunched up different layers, secured with a brad and double sided tape and added it to my card! I've used Promarkers to colour the image plus papers from the Love Love Love download from Funky Hand.

Whilst looking for some black card, I found some random sheets of silver spotty card which I've used to layer the image. Bit of doodling and inking and the card is complete! All the printed card I found in my box of bits - so double recycling for me today!

Happy Birthday too Christy - hope it was a good one!!

Polkadoodle Challenge Week 9 - Wings

It's Friday again and another Polkadoodle challenge! This week Brenda has set the theme which is:

Wings and some stamping!

I've used one of the owls from Paper Boutique but only printed the front elements. There are quite a few layers as you can see from the photo underneath! I've used the A5 pre printed template but you can print it out onto your own papers if you want.

The card base is also from the same collection as there are a few backing sheets to go with each shaped card. And my stamping is from the Daisy Doodles set - such a great little stamp to make a border!
Good luck with the challenge - you have until Sunday 14 March at 12noon GMT to enter and please link your challenge entry to a maximum of 10 other challenges to be eligible for our top three and a prize. Link your creation via Mr Linky on the challenge post!

Quick Mum

This was a quick card to make! The word Mum is layered onto the backing which is also shaped and it is from the new Polkadoodle cd Paper Boutique. It also fits the Crafty Creations challenge which is:

Cut It Out and Pop It Up

Everything on the card is from the cd with exception to the flowers as I used my Cuttlebug dies to cut and layer these.

I've dotted around the edge of the card with a pink gel pen for a bit more definition, but that's it - a nice quick card!

  • Dies: Cuttlebug Flowers

Floral Bouquet

The Digital Tuesday challenge this week is:

A Card For Mum

This has been made using one of the templates from Paper Boutique - the brand new cd from Polkadoodles. I'm not too sure that I've got all the layers right on this as I cut them out before looking at the numbers properly! It should be double sided in that the rear mirrors the front however I made another card using those elements.

I've simply added a little glitter glue to the corners of the petals and pink seed beads to the centres of the flowers. The lettering on the two tags have been cut with leftover papers and by using my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet set. The organza pink ribbon is from my stash.

This is actually the A5 sized card on the cd - there is also A4 and A6 if you want larger or smaller!

And this one won't be available on my website as it's a commission!

Cutie

This is the second of three posts tonight and this is the card and challenge that I forgot to blog yesterday! It's a lovely sketch from The Pink Elephant and I've made another Mother's Day Card. This is a little cutie! Freebie image download from Lost In Paper Scraps - I've had this printed out for ages and been meaning to colour it and the size just went right with the sketch. I've coloured her in with my new felt tips (£2.50 from Tescos) as the last lot are partly running out.

I've added a little glitter glue to her dress, but you can't see it too well as it had not dried before I took the photo! Backing papers are Funky Daze from Funky Hand and I've used a Martha Stewart punch and the letters have been cut using my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet set. Ribbon is from my stash.
So it's another Mother's Day card to add to my website over the next day!

Two for One

Now this is an easy sketch for this weeks Papertake Weekly - just how I like them, but it took me all week to get my act together and make a card for it. So when I did, I made two!

I bought the two Jolly Nation decoupage ladies both on one sheet) a while ago and had already layered up the shopping one but didn't do anything with it. So inspiration struck yesterday afternoon (the boys were playing in the back garden having a water fight -I know and its February - bad mother eh?! But it kept them amused for 45 mins!!) and I knocked out these two cards using the above sketch.

The first card uses scraps from my scrap box - Patti Picklicious and a printed vellum which I am suspecting is Huge Funky Love from Funky Hand. The backing papers are actually a lovely pearlescent thick paper from the Scrap Store and I've run them through different Cuttlebug embossing folders.
The next one has a random green backing - one I made earlier for something else and so I can't remember who or what it is! Spotty printed papers are again Patti Picklicious from Kirsty Wiseman. And the green ribbon is not really ribbon but a twill kind of thing and frays just by looking at it!

So two cards to list on my website over the next day and they will also be in the basket of Mothers Day cards at nursery.
  • Backing papers: Various
  • Images: Jolly Nation decoupage
  • Everything else: My stash

PS This will be the first of 3 posts tonight as I forgot to blog some cards yesterday. Doh! And the boys have not come down with hypothermia - nice hot bubble bath after their playing out and then watched Karate Kid on telly. Well, we may not get a summer, so they might as well have a water fight earlier in the year just in case!!

Purple Wobbly Monster

The Secret Crafter challenge for this week is:

Mother's Day

Which is fast approaching! I've been asked if I'm taking cards into nursery so I thought I'd better make some more for the occasion!

Spotty backing paper and the folded paper strip are from Funky Daze by Funky Hand and the digi image is a freebie and by GTC's Crafty Corner. I've coloured it with felt tips and some white gel pen for highlighting. It's attached to the card via a strip of acetate so it boings around.

I've made a little charm from a heart bead and some other bits and bobs and it hangs from a peice of ribbon that matches the colour of the monster perfectly! Sentiment is handwritten.

Cute Companion

The Moving Along With The Times challenge this week is this sketch and also a theme of cute companions: And as I am a lucky girl and get to play with all the new things from Polkadoodles before they are released I can show you another sample from the very soon to be released Paper Boutique cd which is full of templates and 3d cards plus sentiments and backing papers. This one is so cute!

All paperbased items are from the cd - the sentiment is handwritten. There also is a reverse to the owl but I've not shown it on the card. This is the smallest size and the front and back print out onto a sheet of A4 but there are also an A6, A5 and A4 sized images to cut out and decoupage. As you can see, you get lots of layers!

Really easy to cut out and layer and a great way to do some crafting whilst watching telly!! I watched Bewitched (the 1960's version) on Sunday morning whilst cutting this out! I do like the older programmes!

Relax!

Another challenge that has eluded me for some time is Penny Black - time is sometimes never on my side!

The current challenge is:

Someone Special

And I've made this for my Mum for Mothers Day! The image was stamped for me by Jozza and I've coloured it with watercolour paints, pencils and a little liquid pearls.

The backing paper is Simply Elegant pack from Papermania 6x6 - I've inked the edges. I've layered the image onto some raspberry pearl card and then chocolate brown card too.

The organza brown ribbon is from my stash and I think I need to get some more as it is dwindling! No room for a sentiment so I've had to leave it off!

Your Little Monster

Along with the Crafty Creations challenge this week, there was a blog hop - which, I of course participated in! Not easy when trying to fend off two kids who want my attention, but I completed it!

And now here is my entry into the challenge which is:

Celebration

I've gone for a Mother's Day card as I need to start stocking up on these! I've used papers from Dreams Come True from Funky Hand and a bit of faux stitching and dotting around edges.

I've used a Nesties as an aperture for the little monster sticker to peep through! The sticker came as part of a big sheet from the Pound shop a while ago - they are all slightly raised plastic (if you see what I mean!) and also in the pack is a sheet of normal stickers that have shiny bits on. I'm doing really well with the descriptions aren't I?!!

The lettering is a Cuttlebug alphabet set - Baby Face and I've just noticed that I've missed the apostrophe off, so will have to add it before it gets bought!

  • Backing papers: Dreams Come True from Funky Hand
  • Dies: Nesties and Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet set
  • Sticker: Pound shop
