Simply Create Too Challenge 8 - Lucky

It's time for another Simply Create Too challenge! The theme this fortnight is:

Lucky

So lots scope for your creations!

I've been a good girl and delved into my large box of die cuts - some I've had for around 8 years - to see what I had. And I found a pack of these rather delicate but cute cat silhouettes. I've used some small card blanks and spares to cut the Nesties shape and then the cat has been layered onto that.

The organza green ribbon (it looks a lot nicer than in the photo!) is a fairly recent purchase but I can't remember where from and the tiny green gems at the bottom of the card are from my stash and I've probably had those 8 years too!

Good luck with the challenge - for more details, pop over to the challenge blog!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Inky Impressions: Wish Me Luck
Sweet Stamps: St Patricks Day
House of Gilli: Green
Magic In The Air: Critters

  • Dies: Spellbinder Nestabilities
  • Everything else: My stash

Relax!

Another challenge that has eluded me for some time is Penny Black - time is sometimes never on my side!

The current challenge is:

Someone Special

And I've made this for my Mum for Mothers Day! The image was stamped for me by Jozza and I've coloured it with watercolour paints, pencils and a little liquid pearls.

The backing paper is Simply Elegant pack from Papermania 6x6 - I've inked the edges. I've layered the image onto some raspberry pearl card and then chocolate brown card too.

The organza brown ribbon is from my stash and I think I need to get some more as it is dwindling! No room for a sentiment so I've had to leave it off!

Pink Cat & Spotty Paper

This is a new challenge for me which I found whilst blog hopping - Sketch Saturday - and here is the sketch:

I've flipped it round as I really wanted to use the Inka image (sent to me by Anice in a recent Funky Hand DT image swop!) I've coloured it with watercolour pencils to match the paper (I think is Naughty but Nice Christmas paper from Dovecraft) and the ribbons and buttons.

And I know that cats aren't really that colour, but its nice to have a change every now and again!

The buttons I made from fimo and pushed seed beads in before they were baked - the ribbons were tied through the holes for extra detail. Not too sure why the doodled line looks wonky on the photo - it isn't in real life!

It's a Good Luck Cat - Just Stamp Something Challenge!

I was asked to make this card over the weekend for a work colleague who is leaving and the team wanted a card that they could all sign. And I've been itching to make this one for ages! You see, I get these ideas and they run around in my head for a while so I can think it through and work out the logistics, so I knew it wouldn't take me that long to make once I got going.

And then I realised it fitted the Stamp Something Challenge for this week, which is:

STAMP SOMETHING.

Yep, that's it!! Grab a stamp, ink it up and have a blast!

The template is my own design and I've used decent thick black card - it took 2 sheets with some left over. The concertina has been joined in the middle as the card was not long enough! The outside edges of the front and back of the cat have been highlighted with 3d glitter paint to give them a bit of definition - and to be honest, what girl does not like a bit of bling?!

I've stamped the sentiment with my trusty Studio G alphabet, layered it onto green card, added eyelets and threaded it with fine wire and seed beads so it looks a bit like an ID tag. The eyes have been cut from white textured card and lightly inked with big green gems that I found in my bling box.

Whiskers have been made from curled thin white card and the silver star gems just cover the raw edges nicely. And the lush green satin ribbon - from my stash of course!

  • Ribbon: From my stash
  • Sentiment: Studio G alphabet stamps
  • Other Bits: All from my stash

Cute Card Thursday Challenge 20 - Things That Grow

I really enjoyed the Cute Card Thursday Challenge last week and decided to go for it again! This week it is:

Things that grow!
The obvious things would be plants etc but really there are lots more things that grow, we look forward to seeing your own interpretations!

I think the image is a Penny Black one which has been coloured with watercolour paints and pencils. The background is paper from the Berry-licious collection from Vicki's blog and the layers are also from Vicki's blog but use two of the Rustic Walk collection papers. Each of the panels have been 'dotted' with 3d gold paint, with the outer edge of the card having the same treatment but with a gold gel pen. And I've hand written the 'for you' sentiment, added some perfectly matching (no way eh??!) silky ribbon.

Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 19

Not done a challenge for a few weeks and as I've been doing some blog hopping over the weekend, I thought I'd attempt the Cute Card Thursday Challenge! Plus my stamp collection has grown some what (and a little bit more after my bargain visit to The Range on Saturday!) and I thought I'd better be using them!

So Challenge 19 is:

Animals Only - No People Allowed
The challenge this week is to make a card using animal images only -
NO PEOPLE OR CHARACTERS AT ALL!!
So this is my entry! The backing paper is a download from Vicki's Blog (sorry, can't remember which collection!) and I really liked the old gold look of it. The cat and sentiment stamp is from the Catt-itude set from Lakeland and they have been stamped with gold ink. The sentiment is edged with gold gel pen dots and has two gold eyelets through which gold edged organza ribbon has been threaded. And that was another Saturday bargain buy - the ribbon was 54p for around 3 metres (Blackburn market). Can't really remember where the gold corrugated card came from but I found it in my stash!
Sorry for the slightly wonky photo - I think I was blinded by the bright sunshine early this morning!
I have a few more design challenges on the go at the moment, so will be adding those over the week!!
