Retro Christmas #2

Following on with the scraps of card that I used in my last Christmas card (I feel like I'm on a roll here!) which were from All I Want For Xmas download from Funky Hand, I've used the sketch from Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge for inspiration.

I've added a brad to hold the twine in place with the little bell on the end. I've added a dotted fine black line around the edge of the card and sentiment tile too. The inner edge of the sentiment - also from the download collection - has got a gold stickles dotted line for a bit of bling. Everything else has a running stitch around it.

The card also qualifies for:

Bah Humbug challenge: which asks for Jingle Bells
Card Makin' Mama's: Use Your Scraps
Stamp Something: Use a Sentiment

  • All papers and sentiment: All I Want For Xmas download from Funky Hand

  • Everything else: My stash

Delightfully Delicious!

Just could not resist the Stamp Something challenge this week! As it asks for:

Delightfully Delicious Somethings!

I've wanted to use one of the scalloped edged round cards that the wonderful Enfys sent me a while ago after I asked how she made them (ciricut I believe!) - so thank you En!

The giant cupcake is from Candy Doodles by Polkadoodles and it is printed out to be decoupaged and I've just added a few dollops of liquid pearls here and there.

The circular backing is also from the same cd and I've then threaded some pink grosgrain ribbon through the holes in the card and tied a big bow at the top.

A wonderfully girly and delightfully delicious card!

Hmmmm... Think Of Ice Cream!

It's a while since I entered a Stamp Something Challenge, but when I saw it was a sketch, well, I just had to! And here is my card! The image was very kindly sent to me by Jan who has recently become a Stampin' Up demonstrator (she sent me a few more so watch out for those!) And because it was such a cute image, I just had to use it! I've coloured it with watercolour paints and added a tiny bit of glitter glue in the centre of the flower.

The stripy backing paper is from Funky Daze which I have printed at A5 size so more detail is shown. The brownish card is from my stash, along with the grosgrain ribbon.

I've rounded all the edges and then they have been double inked - first in faded black and then in pink. And I think this card reminds me of ice cream!

Woof Woof!!

And another challenge I've managed this week! This one is the Stamp Something challenge which just happens to be a sketch:

Again, I'm needing to make Funky Hand Design Team Birthday cards, this time it's Allison's Birthday and she does like her dogs! So Allison, you ain't seen this one!!

The cute doggy stamp is one of my most recent purchases - a Dovecraft 99p special but as I don't have any canine stamps, I thought I'd better buy it! The sentiments have been stamped again with a Dovecraft 99p special but a little alphabet set this time.
The dog has been coloured with watercolour pencils and a bit of glitter on the collar (photo does not show it!) All the edges have been inked with chestnut Whispers ink and backing papers are from the Coffee with Pals collection from Funky Seasons.
The image and sentiments have been layered with complementary papers from the collection as I wanted to add a bit of depth.
And by luck, I learnt that Allison really likes the dotty paper from Funky Seasons - so that was a good guess!!
You will be seeing more of this paper - I'm determined that my New Years Resolution (yep, only the one!) will be to use all my papers instead of printing or buying more......
A very Happy Birthday Allison!!

  • Sentiments: Dovecraft mini wooden alphabet stamp
  • Image: Dovecraft, coloured with watercolour pencils and a bit of gold glitter

Stamp Something Challenge - For the Birds

This weeks Stamp Something challenge is:

Something For the Birds.

Make a project using bird images; any types, sizes, shapes, and colors.

How could I not resist a little Christmas Robin?! Although he does look like he has a bit of an attitude! Backing paper is from Funky Hand - Funky Christmas Time download and also the square behind the image.

Stamped image is part of the Cute n Cuddly clear set from Anita, which I have coloured with watercolour paints and a dash of silver glitter glue. I've used two gold eyelets to attach the image and the ribbon (wide gold organza). All edges have been inked lightly in black.

  • Backing paper: Funky Christmas Time from Funky Hand
  • Image: Anitas Stamp Set - Cute n Cuddly coloured with watercolour paints and a little glitter glue
  • Ribbon: From my stash
  • Eyelets: Dovecraft

Stamp Something Challenge - Something For A Friend

I am now back in the swing of challenges and this is the first one for the week! The Stamp Something challenge is:

to do is create something for a friend. It can be a card with a sentiment about friendship, a gift for a friend or a scrapbook page that highlights some fun times!! We don't always have a chance to tell our friends how special they are, so take this chance to let someone know how important they are!
I've made this for a friend who has gone through a lot over the last 2 years and it seems that history is repeating itself. It's just to tell her to keep hanging on!

Backing paper is from Funky Fairy - it was the free download for last weeks Halloween challenge but I didn't get round to making a card, so decided to use it on this one instead. The orange card is from my stash, along with the ivory card. The monkey is a Cuttlebug die which I have coloured with watercolour pencils and chalks. The eyelets are from the bottomless bag sent from Kath, and the sentiment has been stamped with the trusty Studio G alphabet set.

  • Backing paper: Funky Fairy free Halloween download
  • Dies: Cuttlebug monkey coloured with watercolour pencils and chalks
  • Sentiment: Studio G alphabet stamp
  • Ribbon: From my stash
  • Eyelets: From Kath

It's a Good Luck Cat - Just Stamp Something Challenge!

I was asked to make this card over the weekend for a work colleague who is leaving and the team wanted a card that they could all sign. And I've been itching to make this one for ages! You see, I get these ideas and they run around in my head for a while so I can think it through and work out the logistics, so I knew it wouldn't take me that long to make once I got going.

And then I realised it fitted the Stamp Something Challenge for this week, which is:

STAMP SOMETHING.

Yep, that's it!! Grab a stamp, ink it up and have a blast!

The template is my own design and I've used decent thick black card - it took 2 sheets with some left over. The concertina has been joined in the middle as the card was not long enough! The outside edges of the front and back of the cat have been highlighted with 3d glitter paint to give them a bit of definition - and to be honest, what girl does not like a bit of bling?!

I've stamped the sentiment with my trusty Studio G alphabet, layered it onto green card, added eyelets and threaded it with fine wire and seed beads so it looks a bit like an ID tag. The eyes have been cut from white textured card and lightly inked with big green gems that I found in my bling box.

Whiskers have been made from curled thin white card and the silver star gems just cover the raw edges nicely. And the lush green satin ribbon - from my stash of course!

  • Ribbon: From my stash
  • Sentiment: Studio G alphabet stamps
  • Other Bits: All from my stash

Stamp Something Challenge - Embellish!

Right back to the Christmas theme! The Stamp Something challenge this week is:

It can be a card, a scrapbook page or something you altered; anything goes as long as it has a little something extra on it. (or a lot of something extra!)
I've gone for the understated 'little something extra'! Apologies for the poor quality picture but the days are getting shorter and I'm at work during daylight hours so have to resort to using flash in the evening. Anyway, I've had the reindeer die cuts for a while and they've been lying around just waiting for me to do something with them!
The backing panel is left over from the other day and is from It's Funky Too cd. The edges have been lightly inked (only because the ink pad is loosing momentum!) and also the sentiment which has been stamped in gold ink and is part of Anita's Cute & Cuddly stamp set (the little robin is from the same set but he's sad and not very cuddly!)
I've used chalks on the reindeer to give some definition as it was a bit flat to start with and the lights have been cut from shiny red card and attached with fine gold wire. The nose is a tiny red sparkly pom pom.
  • Backing paper: It's Funky Too from Funky Hand
  • Die Cut: From my stash, embellished with chalks
  • Sentiment: From Anita's Cute & Cuddly Christmas Stamp set
  • Ribbon: From my stash
  • Die: Lights die from Quickutz
  • Other Bits: All from my stash

Stamp Something Challenge - Cherry Inspired!

No faffing around for this challenge! I already had the papers printed off and waiting (ha - as if I knew!)

The Stamp Something Challenge for this week is to be inspired by:

Cherries! So here is what I came up with!

The papers are a download from Papercraft Inspirations, all edges with exception to the dotty one (as I forgot!) have been lightly inked in black. The smaller cherry panel has been attached with an eyelet and is moveable. And to tie it all together (no pun intended) is red grosgrain ribbon. I've stamped the sentiment with some fab little Studio G stamps which were only 99p but a bit tricky to line up hence the slightly wonky look!

  • Backing papers: Downloaded from Papercraft Inspirations
  • Sentiment: Stamped with tiny alphabet set from Studio G
  • Ribbon: Dovecraft bargain ribbon on a roll
  • Eyelets: From my stash (probably Making Memories)

Stamp Something Challenge - Birthday & I've Gone Minty!!

The making of this card for the Stamp Something Challenge coincided with a brand new download from Funky Hand called Minty Madness!! And as minty chocolate (especially mint creme eggs, which, incidentally, they do not make any more grrrr) is my favourite (close second are root beer jelly beans) then you can start to understand how pleased I was to try out the papers!

Onto the challenge, which is:

You are to create something that could be given for a birthday(card, invitation, present, etc), something that would be seen at a birthday(party favor, centerpiece, cake...) or something that reminds you of birthdays in general.

Now this could be for a Birthday Party invite (beach party!) or for a Birthday Card. Personally, I like the idea of a Beach Party invite!

I've used the new Funky Hand Minty Madness downloaded papers (you will be seeing more of these this week!) which have been highlighted with black ink. Eyelets (perfect colour match) from the stash Kath sent me and the ribbon (again another perfect match although the camera has lied a little) and daisy brad from my stash. The stamped daisy is to represent a tattoo and the necklace detail adds a bit of bling!

And yes, the card has a behind!

  • Papers: Minty Madness download from Funky Hand
  • Stamps: Studio G daisy stamp
  • Ribbon: From my stash and no doubt originally Blackburn market!
  • Embellishments: Eyelets from Kath, Dovecraft daisy brad, silver seed beads

Stamp Something Challenge - Summer Somethings

Well, there was no way I could turn this challenge into a Festive themed one!

The Stamp Something challenge for this week is:

Summer Somethings

So for this week's challenge we want you to create a project to remind you of something from the summertime

So here is a summery and fun card! And another card which was surprisingly quick and easy to make! The stamped image is from Jozza and I've used watercolour paints to colour it. Its been layered onto the dotty paper and then onto hot pink card to give it an edge. Funky foam flowers are my creation and available to buy from September.

  • Backing paper: Simply Cards & Papercrafts magazine issue 48 freebie
  • Image: From Jozza and coloured with watercolour paints
  • Ribbon: From my stash
  • Embellishments: Made by me and available to buy from September

Stamp Something - Sketch Something Challenge

I've never done a layout challenge before, but thought I'd give it a go! So here is my Stamp Something Sketch Challenge!

This is the challenge

And this is what I've come up with!

The backing paper is from the Paper Blossoms download from Funky Hand with my Catti-tude stamps from Lakeland stamped with copper ink. Light chalking around the edge of the card and stamped area. Added flower brad and lovely chocolate coloured organza ribbon.

Stamp Something "In the Wild Somethings"

I've never really done any challenges, but quite fancied doing this one from Stamp Something.

"The challenge for this week is "In the Wild Somethings," show us your wild side! Make a project using natural materials, images of nature, or anything that you can think of that has to do with wildlife."

The elephant is cut from light corrugated grey card with added Anita's 3d paint glitter on the tail tip and trunk tip and to highlight the ear. A wobbly eye has been added and natural jute string tied in a bow - to remember something - on the trunk and also at the top of the tag. Tag, elephant and grass cuts using Sizzix dies. The small flowers are punchies, with the larger one from Shabby Saturday download by Funky Hand. The super scallop tag is cut from silver pearlescent vellum which has a lovely sheen and tiny silver dots have been added to the edges too. The card edges have been lightly chalked. The 'oops' (stamped double and offset in 2 places) is the See D's kids lowercase alphabet, and the cute mousey friend stamp is part of the Catti-tude stamp set from Lakeland.
