Frosty

Quick card made using Frosty The Snowman from Dr Digi, coloured with Promarkers.  I've used a paper from Snowtime 6x6 pack from Polkadoodles but had to piece it together as it wasn't long enough!  I've layered the paper onto some strips of silver card that I had and added a die cut snowflake and then a half pearl to the centre.

To finish, I've doodled a line around the edge of the patterned paper.  I'd like to enter the following:

Random Stash Items!

I've had a delve through my stash to find things that I'd either forgotten about or didn't know I had!  So here are a few!  I've used Prezzie from Dr Digi and coloured it with Promarkers.  I've used Snowtime 6x6 papers from Polkadoodles and added dotted lines of liquid pearls around the edge of the card and paper.

I found some fluffy fibres in my stash so added those and some large half pearls.  Smaller half pearls added to the vellum die cut circle.

Happy Christmas!  I'd like to enter the following:

Daring Card Makers Challenge - Pretty Pastels

It's time for a new Daring Card Makers challenge and the theme for the week is:

Pretty Pastels

I've stepped away from the Christmas cards and have made this card for a work colleague who is about to go on maternity leave.  The image is from the no longer trading (sadly) Jellypark and I've coloured it with Promarkers.

I've used a lot of different off-cuts of pretty paper from Dovecraft Back to Basics 3 and I've dotted liquid pearls around the edge of the card and image.  The sentiment is also from Jellypark and I've added organza ribbon and a little pram charm from my stash.

This is the last DCM challenge for 2019 - thank you for your support and will see you all again on the 10 January!  I'd like to enter the following:

Time for a new Colour Crazy Challenge and the theme as always is

Anything Goes

We are sponsored by Polkadoodles and I've used the Gnome-Men Snow Ho Ho clear acrylic stamp and coloured it with Promarkers.  The sentiment comes with the set and that has been stamped onto an off cut of card.

Spotty paper, wooden snowflake charm and bakers twine are all from my stash and I've embossed a line around the edge of the card.

Good luck with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

Crimbo Crackers Challenge 200 - Couples

It's time for a new Crimbo Crackers challenge and the theme is

Couples

I've used a Jellypark image that is sadly no longer available, coloured with Promarkers and I've used off-cuts from Polkadoodles Holly Jolly 6x6 paper pack and the image comes from the same pack.

I found the ribbon in my stash and to finish, I've distressed the edges of the papers and the image, adding a dotted line of liquid pearls.

Good luck with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

Using the Positive and Negative Part of a Die Cut

Sometimes there are some really pretty dies that it's a shame to throw away the bits that are not part of the main design.  So, here is a quick post to show just how easy it is to use those negative bits!  Also great if you've just realised you still have some Christmas cards to make as here are two for the price of one!

I've used the Fancy Intricate Bauble die from Polkadoodles and some horded glitter card (the red is from Tesco's - 2015 judging by the label and I'd never opened it until now!)

I cut once from each die and then carefully pushed all the negative bits from the cut.

I then glued the outline shape to my card panel as its easier to fill in the gaps from this point.  If you have a Xyron Machine, then your life will be easier than mine as I use the old fashioned method of dabbing glue.

Oh, before I stuck anything to the card panel, I scored a border so it holds everything together, aesthetically.  And here are the two cards - I find by adding the larger pieces, its easier then to add the smaller ones afterwards.

To make sure its all stuck down, I pop the panels underneath the cushion I have on my hard wooden kitchen chair that I sit on to craft - saves time as I can be getting on with something else whilst they are being flattened!

And the finished cards - the panel has been added to a card blank and I've added some half pearls from my copious stash.

It's time for a new Daring Card Makers challenge and the theme for the week is:

Oh, Christmas Tree

I've gone clean and simple this week, using a die from The Works and then added various sized white half pearls here and there.  I've layered the tree onto a silver pearlescent card and then added to the card blank.

I've dotted liquid pearls around the edge of the first panel for depth.  Good luck with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

Pud

Here is a little quick Christmas card using Xmas Pud from Dr Digi and coloured with Promarkers.  I have quite a few small square envelopes as I tend to buy reduced Christmas cards just for the envelopes as they can be so cheap in the January sales!  So, as I realised I had rather a lot of these envelopes, I'd better start using them!

I cut the background using a circle die and then chopped a bit off the bottom so it would stand up rather than wobble over.  The papers are from Dovecraft Glad Tidings 6x6 pack and I added the pud with foam pads for extra depth.

A few half pearls on the sides and the card is finished!  I'd like to enter the following:

It's time for a new Daring Card Makers challenge and the theme for the week as it is the first Friday of the month:

Elemental Inspiration

You need to use the picture below for inspiration and to use at least 3 elements although colours count as one.

I've used the colour red, stripes, the word joy, reindeer, twine and the tag.  Papers are rather old and are from Dovecraft - Noel 4.5 x 6.5 stack.  I've cut the letters and tag from an offcut of off-white card and added the half pearls and waxed cord from my stash.  The reindeer is a few years old and from Hobbycraft.

Good luck with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

Simon Says Stamp:  Traditional Christmas
Die Cuttin' Diva's:  Christmas

Polkadoodles Challenge - Anything Goes or Interactive Birthday

It's time for a new Polkadoodles challenge and the theme, as always is

Anything Goes

The DT were challenged to make a Birthday card with an interactive element.  I found one of the Little Monsters in my stash - Fuzzpea and I've coloured him with Promarkers and added him to the inside of the card after cutting a hexagon to the front of the card and then cutting each part as shown in the photos below.

I covered the inside of each flap with offcuts of papers from Ho Ho Ho Christmas 6x6 stack (I keep all the little bits I don't use on projects because you never know when you might need them!)

The sentiment I used can be found here in the store.  Good luck with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

Time for a new Colour Crazy Challenge and the theme as always is

Anything Goes

We are sponsored by Oddball Stamps and I've used Rudolph Cute Reindeer image, coloured with Promarkers.  I've used some kraft card to layer the image on and for the card base and I found a really old printed digi paper in my stash that worked well with the colour theme.

The ovals were cut using my Posydoodles Ovals die set and the snowflake is a die I found in my stash, topped with a half pearl.  To add a bit of colour, I used some baby pink embroidery thread from my stash and a bit of sparkly thread too.  The sentiment is an acrylic stamp also from Polkadoodles but now retired.

I've made two pillow boxes from white pearlescent card, and from the offcuts, I've made the tags which are cut from an oval die.

The hot pink ribbon and half pearls are from my stash and I've used the mini baubles I bought a few years ago from Primark to decorate gift boxes.  The sentiment stamp is from Polkadoodles but is no longer available.

I cut the card base from a stitched circles die and then used a smaller one to cut out the image, layering on some red card from my stash.

Lonely This Christmas

Here is the third and final card I have featured in the current issue of Making Cards magazine and I've used Lonely This Christmas by Dr Digi, coloured with Promarkers.   I've made the background by blending different shades of blue inks onto the card and once dry, I embossed it with a Gemini embossing folder.

I then dotted some white opal liquid pearls on some of the embossed areas so it looks like snow.

The sentiment has also been coloured with Promarkers and is from the Christmas Sentiments sheet 1, cut out and added to the card with foam pads.  The snow drifts at the front of the card have been cut from oddments of card left over from previous projects and are from Polkadoodles but are no longer available.

I've coloured the image with Promarkers and added glitter glue here and there although it doesn't show up too well in the photo.  Ribbon is from my stash and I've added dotted liquid pearls around the edge of the card.

Daring Card Makers Challenge - Light

It's time for a new Daring Card Makers challenge and the theme for the week is:

Light

I've raided my stack of already printed digis and found this one from Tiddly Inks - Minnie's Christmas Lights which I thought fitted the theme perfectly!  I've coloured her with Promarkers and added a computer generated sentiment, backing both onto red card from my stash.

I've embossed a line around the edge of the card blank as I wanted to keep the image as the focal point.  The lights have glossy accents over the top, and also her glasses.

Die Cuts and Watercolours

I like using white card (quite a lot!) and just splashes of colour so I decided to take 4 different Polkadoodle dies and to make some quick and easy cards with them.  I've used the Holly and Spruce, Fancy Snowflake, Fancy Intricate Bauble and Ice Skates.

I found some smallish square envelopes in my stash and made some card blanks to fit these and then cut another square panel for each, that was slightly smaller.  For each die, I cut two for extra strength.

I then used my rather ancient (I used them when I did A Level Art back in 1990!) watercolours in the bottom right corner.  I repeated this for all four panels using different colours each time.

Next I added the die cut over the watercoloured area after sticking the panel to the card blank.  To keep it all flat, I add them under the cushion of the chair that I sit at when crafting - its a heavy wooden table chair so works perfectly under my posterior!

I also added some little half pearls here and there and some larger ones to three of the cards.  I quite like these - a little bit different!

Here is my second card to be featured in this months Making Cards magazine and this time features Christmas Party Colin from Dr Digi and I was asked as part of the DT, along with a sentiment from the Christmas Sentiments Sheet 1.  I've coloured the digi with Promarkers and used a stitched wavy die cut to layer the image on and to cut the opening side of the card.

To add a bit of interest, I've scored a line around the straight edges and used papers from Dovecraft Glad Tidings 6x6 pad.  There is a special discount code in the magazine plus lots of inspiration as well as the cover acrylic stamps!

Moooved

I've got all my Christmas card orders completed and delivered so thought it was about time I had a play with some images I printed some time ago but never had the time.  I've used the AKV Got Milk?  digi but omitted the question mark and text as I wanted to use it as a new home image, hence the sentiment I hand wrote.

I've used some freebie magazine papers from my stash, hence the pattern going different ways as the piece wasn't big enough as it was.  I flipped the sketch that I followed and added off-cuts of foam for the detail for something a bit different.  Image has been coloured with Promarkers and I used a die from my stash to cut it out.

Daring Card Makers Challenge - Natural, Gold and White

It's time for a new Daring Card Makers challenge and the theme for the week is:

Natural, Gold and White

I've made a simple Christmas Card with a white card blank and a kraft card square that has been layered onto some gold card.  The ribbon is from my stash and I think came from Lidl originally - I buy Christmas stuff in the sales so I get it quite cheap and usually then forget I have it!

The golden snowflake is actually a Christmas tree decoration and again, I bought it in the January sales quite a few years ago (I think from Asda) and I bought three so made three identical cards!  It's not attached to the base card so it hangs free!

We are sponsored by Knitty Kitty Digis this week and got to play with some of their fab images!  I used Holly Poocherson and coloured with Promarkers.  I've used Polkadoodles Ho Ho Ho papers and layered the image onto some silver card from my stash.

I found some red satin ribbon in my stash that matched the backing paper so made a bow and attached a snowflake charm.

The DT were challenged to make 6 Christmas Gift tags with ribbon or string, so this is what I came up with!  I've used the largest Posydoodles Basics Oval die as the tag and stamped a sentiment on each, adding burgundy half pearls to the bottom.

I made a pillow box and added a strip of paper from Snowtime Like Christmas 6x6 paper pack.  To finish off the tag, I've added a wooden snowflake and some burgundy waxed cord in a bow.

Christmas Chris

I was recently asked to make 3 cards for the December issue of Making Cards magazine and here is the first one!  I've used Christmas Chris and added a sentiment from the Christmas Sentiments Sheet 1.  Chris has been coloured with Promarkers and I've added him to a circle of kraft card which I've folded in two to create a wobble card.

I had to carefully balance the sentiment on a cocktail stick so he wasn't lopsided!  Glossy accents added to his nose and the berries on the pud plus some doodling with a black fineliner pen and the card is complete!

We are sponsored by The Paper Shelter and I got to play with the What A Mess digi.  I've coloured him with Promarkers plus found some rather old papers in my stash which I thought worked really well with the image and theme.  The little glass fairy lights I've had for an age in my stash so added those, using glossy accents to stick them down.

I've made a pillow box from an A4 sheet of kraft card, and from the off cuts I die cut a tag using one of the Posydoodles Basics Oval dies and used one of the now retired acrylic stamps.  I've added some half pearls to the bottom of the tag and the ribbon is from my stash.

This week we are sponsored by All Dressed Up stamps and I have used Sharing at Christmas, coloured with Promarkers plus a little glitter glue.  I've used a Memory Box die to cut the main background and then some wiggly stitched dies for the foreground.  I've rubbed inks to make the background and then added liquid pearl dots for snowflakes.

The DT were challenged to make something that is for Christmas but is not a card, so I came up with a cute gift box, cut from a sheet of kraft card and with white half pearls from my stash and organza ribbon.

I've used the Fancy Snowflake die, and I've cut two from off-cuts of kraft card for extra strength, added the half pearls and then added that to the centre of the box after adding the ribbon.

Crimbo Crackers Challenge 197 - Blue

It's time for a new Crimbo Crackers challenge and the theme is

Blue

I've made rather a small card as I have an awful lot of little envelopes to use up!  I usually buy Christmas cards in the sales for the envelopes and I seem to have amassed a lot of little square ones!  I've used an offcut of dark blue card from my stash as the background, die cut a part circle, rubbed blue inks on it and then run it through a Gemini embossing folder which I then went over with dots of liquid pearls so it looked more snow-like.

I've cut the reindeer three times for stability and used offcuts of white card then added the organza ribbon from my stash.

Good luck with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

Sparkles and Skates

I've made a cute pillow box out of a sheet of kraft card - and I used a fancy circle punch on each of the ends so that it can be opened easily (you just can't see it on the photos) but a good idea is to use the punch before gluing the sides together!

To cut the tag, I've used the largest die from Posydoodles Basics Tags die and I've used some of the very sparkly white glitter card that I've had in my stash for probably 10 years.

Next up, I cut two of the Ice Skates die from off-cuts of kraft card - I cut two for extra strength as its going to hang over the edge of the tag and I don't want it to bend or get damaged

From an off-cut of silver card, I've cut the skate blades and also the bow - I always keep all my off-cuts unless they are ridiculously tiny, because you never know when you'll need them!

When assembled, it will look something like this:

I added the tag to the box with some white organza ribbon I had in my stash and found a gem (stuck to the side of my die cutting machine, of all things!) and added that to the centre of the bow - plus it covered up the join rather nicely!

A great quick tag and gift box!
