Polkadoodles Challenge - Anything Goes or Christmas Gift

It's time for a new Polkdoodles challenge and the theme is

Anything Goes

The DT were challenged to make something to hold a Christmas Gift, using kraft and ribbon.  I've used a sheet of A4 Kraft card to make the gift box and then to hold it shut, I've made a band from an offcut of printed paper and added a thin strip of red ribbon around the middle.  The topper was cut using one of the Stitched and Pierced Nesting Circle dies and then with kraft off-cuts I used the Holly and Spruce die to make the leaves.  The berries are recycled from fancy crackers we had a few years ago - they were too nice to throw away!

Good luck with the challenge!

Die Cuts and Watercolours

I like using white card (quite a lot!) and just splashes of colour so I decided to take 4 different Polkadoodle dies and to make some quick and easy cards with them.  I've used the Holly and Spruce, Fancy Snowflake, Fancy Intricate Bauble and Ice Skates.

I found some smallish square envelopes in my stash and made some card blanks to fit these and then cut another square panel for each, that was slightly smaller.  For each die, I cut two for extra strength.

I then used my rather ancient (I used them when I did A Level Art back in 1990!) watercolours in the bottom right corner.  I repeated this for all four panels using different colours each time.

Next I added the die cut over the watercoloured area after sticking the panel to the card blank.  To keep it all flat, I add them under the cushion of the chair that I sit at when crafting - its a heavy wooden table chair so works perfectly under my posterior!

I also added some little half pearls here and there and some larger ones to three of the cards.  I quite like these - a little bit different!

Quick Gift Box

I have a bit of a thing for making gift boxes - I make one for each of my team at Christmas and fill with goodies for them (I have quite a large team!) so always on the look-out for something quick and easy to make.  And then, I make extras for other work colleagues who help me out!  So yes, I need quite a few!

So I was having a play with some of the Ho Ho Ho 6x6 papers - I glued two together (be careful with patterns!) and then when that was dry, I glued the other two edges together to create a tube.

Glue one side closed as shown - I used clothes pegs to keep it all together!  They have a better 'reach' than bulldog clips and are kinder on the grip!

Whilst waiting for all this glue to dry, I cut some holly leaves using the Holly and Spruce die - I've coloured these leaves with Promarkers to match the leaves on the paper!  I've added them to a tag (Basic Tag dies) cut from a scrap of card and then used some Dew Drops for berries.

I've now held the opposite sides together to create a triangle and punched two holes (I actually used a hole punch as the holes were a perfect spacing) and threaded the red ribbon through with the tag.

In total, with drying time, this took about an hour, but I didn't just sit around waiting for the glue to dry - I was productive with my time!  I'd like to enter the following:

Frosty

Here is a quick card made using Frosty The Snowman from Dr Digi, coloured with Promarkers.  I've used a stitched die and added a piece of vellum behind to create a window.

I've added a dotted line of liquid pearls around the edge of the card and also the window and the little silver stars are from a tiny punch (I've recycled an old Christmas card).  The holly and berries die is from Polkadoodles.

Colour Crazy Challenge - week 47 - Sponsored by Bugaboo

It's Friday so another challenge from the Colour Crazy's!  The theme as always is

Anything Goes

And this week we are sponsored by Bugaboo.  I've used Deer Duo and coloured it with Promarkers.  The papers are from Polkadoodles - Snowtime Christmas 6x6 papers with ribbon and dew drops from my stash.

I've hand written the Sizzix sentiment tag and added die cut holly leaves using the Holly and Spruce die from Polkadoodles.  Good luck with the challenge!
