Dottie Red

At the Craft Fair last Saturday, Lynsey and I were fortunate to have a 'spot' adjacent to a very lovely lady called Suzie who goes by the name of Dotty Red.

We got on very well (her stall was amazing and smelt heavenly - lavender!) and I noticed she was expertly crocheting some fab flowers and I commented on how lovely they were and that I'd tried and failed miserably to make some.

And she presented me with these plus leaves!!

How fantastic! Now I urge you to go and have a look at her blog as it is full of loveliness!

Blue Christmas Cake

This is an alternative Christmas Cake or centrepiece for the table. And it fits the current Incy Wincy challenge which is:

Blue and White

I've used the Funky Hand Blue Christmas wordbook download but just used the 5 A4 papers that come with the download to cover various tubes and containers to stack up to make the cake.

I've added various items to each layer - snowflakes, beaded wire, hat pins, ribbon plus blingy gems and glitter glue. The top has been made with left over papers glued together and then wrapped around a pen whist still bonding so that the curls stay.

Makes a change from all the Christmas cards I've been making! And now I need to get back to the orders as they all need finishing by next Saturday!

  • Papers: Blue Christmas word book download from Funky Hand
  • Containers: Various - all recycled

Polkadoodle Challenge 47 - 'Twas The Night Before Christmas

It's Friday again so time for another Polkadoodle challenge! Brenda set this week's challenge prior to her stepping down from the Design Team and it is to draw inspiration from

'Twas The Night Before Christmas

I've used the gift shaped card from Paper Boutique Vol 2 - Creative Christmas plus a bit of glitter glue here and there. This is a really quick card to make as it is made up of chunky shapes that you cut out and layer up but it looks really effective too!

And if you look you can see the little mouse! He's taken from Back to Nature and I've reduced his size somewhat so I could fit him on the card!

I'm giving away as part of the blog candy hop a copy of Creative Christmas - click HERE for the post - you have until Sunday 28 November to enter so be quick!

Christmas Red

I found the perfect excuse to use this beautiful Charmed Cards and Crafts acrylic stamp as their current challenge is:

Anything Goes but with Red

So here it is! I've taken inspiration from the card sample shown for this particular stamp - so thank you! And its another card ticked off the order list too! I've coloured her with Promarkers and added some glitter glue. She sits on a frame made from my Nesties and I've raised her up a little with foam pads.

The paper is from Kirsty Wiseman's Patti Picklicious cd with layers from the same cardstock as the card base. I've added some thin satin ribbon in the background as a complement to the colours and the sentiment is computer generated and layered onto an offcut of the same backing card.

Better go and crack on with the other orders - no rest for the wicked!

  • Backing paper: Patti Picklicious cd by Kirsty Wiseman

Winter

I'm beginning to see the light at the end of tunnel for Christmas cards and orders and other related stuff, this particular card being one off my list! It also fits the Fuzzy Wuzzy Challenge this month as it is:

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall

And I've gone with the winter option. Image is Penny Black and I got the stamped image from here, coloured it with Promarkers and a little glitter glue. The sentiment is computer generated and I think the backing paper is from Mad About Cards which I bought as a download ages ago.

Ribbon is from my stash as too the pearlescent snowflakes and gems. I've cut and layered the image with Nesties. Sorry for the rather blue photo - its not really that blue in real life!

Simple and Quick!

These cards were made in a few hours from start to finish and to be honest, I think it took me longer to choose the ribbon than to make them!

They fit the criteria for the Christmas All Year Around Challenge for November which is to create 5 cards with:

Trees and Ribbon

I've used the free embossing folder of a tree from a recent Docrafts magazine, added gems to match the backing and ribbon and layered the image onto coloured card (I think Bazzil Basics).

The ribbon has then been tied around the card and finished with a bow at the bottom. You can't quite see it, but I've used some sparkly clear (bit of a contradiction but it is!) glitter glue on the stars on the tops of the trees.

Nice and simple and quick cards! Great for batch making!

Craft Juice Tuesday - Week 40

Welcome to another week of Craft Juice Tuesday! All the items shown here can be viewed in more detail by clicking on the picture.

I've gone for a wintry theme again this week, concentrating on the colour blue (or variation of!)

A beautiful effervescent teal blue square ring from TopazTurtle

Wow - it looks cold in this picture! A mini painting that can be displayed on your fridge! From Melissa Sherowski
I really do like bprdesigns work and this is no exception. There is such a magical quality about glass!

See you next Tuesday for more!

Turkey Wishes

A quick card from me that actually took nearly 2 weeks to put together. Don't know why - probably everything else just got in the way! It's for the Cards For Men challenge which this fortnight is:

Animals

Ok, I'm pushing the theme a little here, but the turkey is an animal. Just a cooked one! I've used Turkey Lurkey from BoniBleaux Designs, coloured him with Promarkers and layered it onto some random offcuts of card I found in my stash.

The sentiment is part of a freebie set that I downloaded from GTC's Crafty Corner (I'd been after some of these tickets for ages so thank you!) The papers are Papermania 6x6 Home for Christmas stack that I must have bought but forgot about (oops!) as I found them in my stash!

And the string of mini lights? I've had these for absolutely ages and bought them years go and hardly ever used them! Just that the card needed something a bit butch to add to it, and although fairy lights are not that butch, I think they work well!

Ironing For A Good Cause

Here is pictorial proof that I do attempt some ironing every now and again! The boys with their spotty dotty t-shirts that I made them for Children In Need day on Friday.

There were 22 coloured spots on each side of the t-shirts - total of 88 ish spots that I hand cut out and ironed onto the t-shirts (Primark 2 for £1.50) on Thursday evening.

Dude Time Doodles Challenge 2 - Photo Inspiration

I can't believe its come round to the 20th of the month so quickly! And because it is the 20th its time for a Dude Time Doodles Photo Inspiration challenge! So take inspiration from this montage - use the colours or the images on your creation and link up with the Dude Time Doodles blog before 3 December to be in with a chance of winning or placing in the top three!

I've used the colours as inspiration as Tom Tom the Turkey just wanted to be used! I was going to add something along the lines of 'Bernard will be calling soon....' (for US readers Bernard Matthews is a HUGE turkey farmer! And not to be confused by the famous Northern comedian Bernard Manning - you can google that yourself! But be warned not for those easily offended!)

I digress...!

I've used a sheet of brown paper that came with some photo printing paper as my backing (I've no Kraft card but this is good enough!), doodled a faux stitched line around the edge and inked lightly. I say lightly as the ink pad has seen better days and even coca cola has limited resuscitation effects these days!

Image has been coloured with Promarkers and layered onto some brown offcut of card. Glitzy gold snowflake started life as a parcel sticker but is way too good for that, so its on my card! Spotty red backing paper is from Patti Picklicious cd by Kirsty Wiseman and adds just the right amount of colour I think!

So fancy entering?! Yes, of course you do! The challenge is open until 3 December and have a look on the challenge blog for more details on how to enter! Good luck!

  • Brown backing: Random paper from some packaging

Simple Doodles Challenge 31 - Cute as a Button

It's time for another Simple Doodles Challenge! Kelly has joined our little but perfect team - so hello Kelly! The challenge theme this fortnight is:

Cute As A Button

Which this image certainly is! The Design Team have been sponsored for the challenge by Zlatoena Designs, however, me being me and being organised I'd already made my card and didn't have enough time to make another with the wonderful images supplied. So, I'll be making cards with those over the next week or so (I WILL make time!) and I'll show them. So apologies from me.

Moving on! The image I've used is from Digi Sparkle and is part of the Christmas Girls set. I am such a fan of Heathers images as they are a delight to colour and are modern but retro all at the same time! Isn't this a cutie?! Coloured with Promarkers with a blob of red glitter glue on the holly. Paper is DCWV 6x6 Christmas Wishes paperstack which has been inked around the edges and I've added thin satin ribbon and some buttons from my stash.

This is also one of the images you could win as part of The Digi Blog hop - click here for more details but be quick - hopping ends on 25 November!

Hope you can join in with the Simple Doodles challenge this fortnight - good luck!

Polkadoodle Challenge 46 - Give Thanks & Blog Hop!

It's Friday again and time for another Polkadoodle challenge but this week it is one with a difference! Not only do you get the chance to win some fab Polkadoodle products by entering the challenge which is:

Give Thanks

But there are lots more chances to win some Polkadoodle products by visiting each DT member in the blog hop! And there is more! But wait - I need to show my card for this weeks' challenge!

I've used the flowers from Sugar Birdies, layered up and curled the edges then added a very large bling gem to the centres! The stamping around the edges is from the Daisy Doodles stamp plate and it has to be one of my favourite stamps as it is so versatile! The sentiment is handwritten.

So, onto the blog hop and the candy that you could win! If you've come to my blog from Jenny then you are going through the list in the correct order. If not, don't worry as you can still visit us all! The letter you need to collect from me is

S

And here is the candy you could win by leaving me a comment on this post!

In the picture above - you will get a copy of Paper Boutique Vol 2 Creative Christmas, tube of clear Doodle Dewdrops, pack of Fru Fru Boutique ribbon in candy reds, a Fairy Polly rubber stamp, and a Seasons Greeting sentiment rubber stamp, collectively worth over £26!

There is more but at time of publishing I'd not yet got myself sufficiently organised to take a photo - so that will be added!!

Nikky has been very very generous and has offered each visitor to our blogs during the duration of the blog hop a special code for the Polkadoodles website which provides 10% discount! And with free postage and packing over £5 to worldwide destinations and no minimum order amount, this is an offer you cannot afford to miss out on! Just type in HOPPITYHOP10 at checkout and 10% will be deducted from your order!

Put the letter in a safe place, leave me a comment, and now hop to Enfys who will show you what candy she has to offer!

The Blog Hop will end at 12noon on Sunday 28 November along with the challenge, so good luck and happy hopping!

Santa and Rudolph

I've found a new challenge blog - well, new to me anyway called Bah Humbug, and the current challenge is

Rudolph / Reindeer

I've used this Lee Jacobs image bought from here, which I've coloured with Promarkers plus some glitter glue.

The papers are Dovecraft Ho Ho Ho 8x8 paper stack and I've simply inked the edges, layered the image with pale brown card and ruby red card and then added an organza ribbon and bow. It's one of those images that I've had coloured in ready for an appropriate challenge. I try and get ahead of myself by having colouring session as then it feels like the actual cards come together a lot quicker!

Happy Birthday!

I must apologies for this oddly coloured card, which isn't in reality, it's just the photo (taken by my husband as I'm at work during the day and do not see daylight) had a terrible blue cast to it so I've corrected it as best I can but it looks a little stark and odd. But it's not!
Glad to get that cleared up! Anyway, its for the Teddy Stampers First Birthday challenge and Blog hop and the theme is:

Birthday

I've used a Forever Friends stamp, coloured with Promarkers and layered onto papers from I think Funky Daze from Funky Hand as they were left over scraps from a previous project and I didn't want to waste them.

I've rounded and inked the corners and added some card candy to the corners. A nice simple card! Off to do the blog hop now for the challenge blog!

  • Backing papers: Funky Hand
  • Image: Forever Friends, coloured with Promarkers
  • Card Candy: Craftwork Cards

Sympathy

I really should make more sympathy cards. Not because of the expectation of someone keeling over, but for the fact that I actually like making them! It's a really serene and calming experience. Even with two kids arguing over who is going on the Wii going on in the background! So when I saw the Charisma Cardz challenge which is:

Sympathy / Sorry

I just had to join in! The stamp is Anita's and I've used golden vellum and offcuts of the card blank to make the layers, using Nestabilities and a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The lilies are from my stash and I've had them absolutely ages - bought on a whim (probably because they were cheap) but knew I'd use them one day! The organza ribbon is also from my stash.

  • Embossing: Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls
  • Sentiment: Anita's stamp

Bright Thirty

A non Christmas challenge this week on Moving Along With The Times, which asks for:

Nice and Bright

I've made this word book card as part of an order for a friend. All the papers are from Funky Hand - Retro Fun download and I've created the letters in word art, cutting them out and then layering onto the pages.

The word 'thirty' has been cut using my Sizzix Round-a-Bout alphabet die and then layering the letters onto black card so they stand out.

All embellishments are from my stash with exception to the big blue beads as those were part of a generous donation from Lynsey (thank you!) I've used ribbons, seed beads, hat pin and brads and all colour co-ordinated!

This non Christmas card lark won't continue as I've spent a few hours this afternoon colouring winter images...... Needs must as I have two Craft Fairs coming up - one on Saturday 20 November at Crossley Heath School in Halifax and then one on 5 December in aid of the NSPCC. So I need to make sure I have enough stock. And if I have any Christmas cards left over, then its a good start on next year!

PS Thirty is spelt right - the last 't' is hidden!

Santa Door Hanger

I don't really need an excuse to make these Christmas door hangers, but when I saw the Die Cut Dreams challenge for the week, which is:

Make A Door Hanger

I had to get cracking! The last one I made, I sold and I've been asked for more, so I've actually made 3 of these with slight variations on each. The red spotty paper is printed onto card and I've made it thicker by having a blank layer in between the printed sides. Both the paper and the Santa image are from Paper Boutique Vol 2 - Creative Christmas from Polkadoodles.

I've glittered Santa with glitter glue and the letters have been cut with my Sizzix Round-a-Bout alphabet for the larger letters and my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet for the smaller letters. I've inked the edges of the hanger and then doodled a fine black line around the edge.

  • Backing paper and image: Paper Boutique Vol 2 - Creative Christmas from Polkadoodles
  • Dies: Sizzix Round-a-Bout alphabet and Cuttlebug Baby Face

Ski Freestyle!

This is last weeks freebie image from Bugaboo and the card goes towards one of my Christmas card orders. Their current challenge is:

Anything Goes

I've taken inspiration from one of the Bugaboo Design Team - Paul Ford in the papers and layout etc, however I've used papers from Kirsty Wiseman - Patti Picklicious and sort of made up my own circle (I've got a set of Nesties to do just the job on order!!)

All the plain card plus the silver are from my stash along with the silver (yes, it looks black, but what do you expect when it does nothing but rain all day and you have to rely upon your husband to take the photos of you creations as you barely see daylight during the week!) snowflake which was originally from Matalan.

Bit of doodling, corner rounding and inking and jobs done! Oh, image coloured with Promarkers but you wouldn't expect anything less!

Lets hope the teenager its intended for, likes it!

  • Papers: Patti Picklicious from Kirsty Wiseman
  • Image: Bugaboo freebie, coloured with Promarkers
  • Everything else: My stash or Matalan

Polkadoodle Challenge 45 - Gift Box

It's Friday so that can only mean another Polkadoodle challenge! I'm hosting the challenge this week and the theme is:
Gift Boxes

This can be for Christmas, or any other occasion as long as it is a gift box. The challenge is open until Sunday 22 November at 12noon GMT and please remember the 10 rule challenge!
I've used the template from Paper Boutique Vol 2 - Creative Christmas to make these little takeout gift boxes and then printed some of the papers from the same cd on the other side of the card.

They are really quick and easy to make! I know these look a little unfinished, and that's because they are! My intention is to use them at the table for our Christmas dinner, but as I don't know how many people will be there I've only made the 4 (just in case we end up staying at home and catering for ourselves!)

If I remember, I'll take a photo of the finished boxes closer to Christmas. But don't hold me to it as there are a lot of sleeps between now and then and I am likely to forget!

Before I go, I need to warn you of something big happening next week for the Polkadoodle challenge that you will NOT want to miss! We are hosting a blog hop with lots of prizes along the way - so if you've not got any Polkadoodle stash yet then this could be your chance to win some! More details are on next week's post so make sure you tune back in next Friday at 9am!

If you can't wait until then to win some Polkadoodle stash, then pop over to the website where you will find lots of goodies at great prices and the best bit is free postage and packing to anywhere in the whole wide world! Minimum spend to qualify is £5 but that won't be difficult!

We are still on the lookout for Design Team members - closing date for applications is 14 November - go to the challenge blog for more details of how to apply!

Christmas Gift

I've used this Digi Sparkle Christmas Girls image which is part of the bundle of images that can be won for next month's Digi Blog Hop! So consider this a sneak preview! The Digi Blog Hop is still open for November (closes 25 November) - my challenge post which tells you everything is here, or you can go directly to the Digi Blog Hop Blog.

This card is for the Digi Sparkle challenge, which this fortnight is:

Holidays

I've coloured the image with Promarkers and added a gem to the centre of the parcel. The card blank is Papermania and as luck would have it, matched my colouring and also the paper that I'd selected! Not often that happens so easily!

The printed paper is Dovecraft 8x8 Ho Ho Ho collection from last year. The red ribbon is from my stash, along with the gems and the embellishment is from a ribbon and tag set from Tescos last year. Another perfect match!

  • Backing paper: Dovecraft 8x8 Ho Ho Ho collection
  • Image: Digi Sparkle, coloured with Promarkers
  • Card Blank: Papermania
  • Everything else: My stash

Christmas Post

Another fine challenge over on Penny Black Saturday Challenge this week, which is:

Let It Snow

I've used this cute Penny Black image that I've had for ages, coloured it with watercolours and added some glitter glue for the snow. The brown paper is recycled - it was packing material previously and the gold snowflake was part of a parcel sticker that I rescued!

The red printed paper is from DCWV 6x6 Christmas Multi stack and I've layered it and the image onto some brown card from my stash. Ribbon is also from my stash.

Bit of inking and some corner rounding and it is complete! Another card to add to the box!

A White Winter Wonderland

I'm really beginning to ramp up with the Christmas cards now - the box is looking healthier (or it would be if I stopped selling them!) and I could not let the ABC Christmas challenge pass me by! The challenge this fortnight is:

Winter Wonderland

This is another image that I'd already coloured a few weeks ago and I've used Aqua Markers as they give a lovely rich colour with a watercolour feel to it. Of course, I've added some glitter glue!

I've layered the Penny Black image onto some very shiny silver card that I found in my box of bits and have layered the sentiment (not got a clue where from) onto it too.

I've used two different Cuttlebug embossing dies for the background, and again used off cuts of card for it. A bit of inking and the addition of the sparkly trimmed white ribbon and the card is complete!

  • Image: Penny Black, coloured with Aqua Markers and glitter glue
  • Sentiment: Some random die cut I found in my stash
  • Embossing folders: Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Snowflakes
  • Everything else: My stash

Craft Juice Tuesday - Week 38

Welcome to another week of Craft Juice Tuesday! And following on from last week's poppy theme, I've decided to continue it! If you click on each picture, it will take you directly to the Craft Juice listing.

First up is this dove grey poppy crocheted hat from NOfkantsCurios

A beautiful pendant from Pants and Paper

This is a cute but tiny fridge magnet painting from Melissa Sherowski

See you next Tuesday for more Craft Juice Tuesday!

Snow Much Fun!

It's been a while since I found enough time to enter a Doodle Dragon Studio Challenge, but as I'd got ahead of myself with colouring and had this little snowman all ready, the rest of the card was easy to put together.

The challenge this fortnight is:

Anything Goes

The image from Dustin Pike, has been coloured with Promarkers and I've glitter around the edge of the image - it was layered but the underneath was not a good match hence the glitter!

The backing paper is from my stash - not got a clue where it came from but I've printed it, but that could mean anything! I've Swiss Dot embossed an off-cut of card (the bit I cut off to make the square card!) and I've added some blue ribbon and stamped a Studio G sentiment.

This will be one of the cards that I have on order. One small cross off a long list but at least I'm getting there or at least I hope I do before Christmas!

  • Backing paper: Not got a clue - found it in my stash
  • Image: Dustin Pike, coloured with Promarkers
  • Embossing: Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder
  • Sentiment: Studio G acrylic stamp - 99p set
  • Everything else: My stash

Mr Fantastic!

The Papertake Weekly challenge is asking for:

A Penny For The Guy

So, a male card really! I've used a BBDesigns image - Hero Henry which I've coloured with Promarkers plus added a bit of glitter glue to his very fine set of teeth! The sentiment is computer generated and I've layered that and the image onto offcuts of card. And, if you look closely, I've had to cleverly work with the offcuts that I did have as I didn't have enough!

The backing paper is from Polkadoodles Not For Girls cd and is one of the best sheets of backing paper I've ever printed for a male card! A great superguy backing paper! I've added a bit of inking and doodling around the edges, some string and a button and that is it! And it's not a Christmas card! Actually, its to go in the Valentine card box! See how organised I sound?!

  • Backing paper: Not For Girls cd from Polkadoodles
  • Image: Hero Henry from BBDesigns, coloured with Promarkers
  • Sentiment: Computer generated
  • Everything else: My stash

Boxing Hero

Another easy and useful sketch from A Crafty Little Place this week:
With the added twist of it being a sketch for the guys! And what better image to use than this one of Knock Out Kurt from BBDesigns! I've coloured him with Promarkers and I've handwritten the sentiment (again too lazy to fire up the printer and make it look reasonable!)

I've not got a clue where the backing paper came from as I'd already added it to the card blank. I must have printed it myself a long time ago as it is on photo paper and I only print photos on this type of paper now! I've used left over card to add as part of the sketch and the button and string is from my stash.

A pretty quick card to make whilst watching a marathon Milkshake Fireman Sam morning before swimming lessons......!

  • Backing paper: Not got a clue
  • Image: KO Kurt from BBDesigns, coloured with Promarkers
  • Sentiment: Handwritten
