Rocket Boy

With everything going on this week, I completely forgot to blog this card that I made with one of the new release digi stamps from Jellypark. This is the Space Ship Rocket digi which I have coloured with Aquamarkers and then added with foam pads to the wonderful background!

The sky is Cosmo Cricket - Sidewalk Chalk digi pack that I bought from Jessica Sprague and I just knew it would be perfect for this card!

I've added a die cut cityscape to the bottom of the card that I've had for absolutely ages and bought from ebay - I've added silver card to the windows. A bit of doodling around the edge of the card with a fineliner plus some card candy (it just added a bit of closure!) and the card is finished!

All the madness should be over by Saturday once the boys have had their joint Birthday party! So normal service shall be resumed shortly! Think of me between 2:30 and 4:30 on Saturday trying to entertain around 30 kids with some random games!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

I Love Promarkers: Transport
Crafty Boots: Anything Goes
Creative Stamp Friends: Card for a Man
Make It Monday: Anything Goes
My Partner In Crafting Crime: Planes, Trains and Automobiles / Any Mode of Transport (mine is a rocket!!)
CES Challenges: Magical or Spooky

Fly Me To The Moon!

The Pollycraft challenge this week is:

Fly Me To The Moon!

And here is a card I made! I've used both the spaceman and rocket templates from Polkadoodles Paper Boutique Vol 3. The little spaceman is actually one of the digi images that I've cut out and added to the front of the rocket.

All the elements are pre coloured so you just need to click and print! I've layered them up with foam pads and there is a back to the rocket too - I just forgot to take a photo of it before the card was delivered!

The number 1 is a Sizzix die cut - Round-a-Bout alphabet set and although it looks gold, it was actually silver (I blame the poor light!) The button and silver cord are from my stash.

Polkadoodle Challenge 4 - Party Time!

It's Friday so time for another Polkadoodle challenge! This week it's all about parties! Tracie is throwing a Birthday party for her two boys this week so the theme is:

Party Time

My two boys have their Birthday's within a week of each other so I can understand what Tracie is going through with the planning and organisation! Our last joint party had around 40 kids!! I've used the very wonderful Paper Boutique Vol 3 as my inspiration this week. The space rocket is A5 in size and I've added the planet via a strip of acetate so that it boings around.

The card is double sided so which ever way you look at the card, it looks fab! I've also added some craft wire and threaded buttons through them for extra interest.

I have a feeling that I'll be making more of these rockets as they are great and easy to make too!

Good luck with the challenge - it is open until Sunday 6 February at 12noon GMT!

8 Loo Rolls Later & A Washing Up Liquid Bottle....

It's not always about making cards in my household. Nursery expect the children to make things too. Fortunately, they now give plenty of notice. I've had a month to help Samuel make a rocket for a little competition they were having - who could make the best space rocket in pre-school!

In my defense, it took 2 weeks for the Fairy Liquid washing up bottle to be empty (yep, it just lasted for ALL those dishes) and then I forgot about it. And then remembered on Monday afternoon (deadline Tuesday am), so we got going with the big roll of tin foil, some sellotape and a lot of Scooby Do stickers and gold sticky stars. Thank goodness for Bank Holidays!

The design brief was for the child to make a rocket. I just did the sellotape bit as I didn't trust either child with it (by this point a grumpy and tired but refused to go to sleep) Jacob came downstairs and had to join in. It was Samuel's design and he put all the tin foil on himself.

The boys cut up the crepe paper, added the yellow band around the rocket and then all the stickers. I did the hangy thing (quite badly it turns out as it was rubbish and did not work!) out of silver ribbon.

Looks really good doesn't it? But not as good as the ones that the other children's parents had made. It was obvious that most of the parents had actually made the rockets, either that or there is a scarily high proportion of genius artists / sculptors in that class at nursery. Samuel's Scooby Do Rocket did not win.

Me, bitter? Nah. But Samuel was.
