Poppies

Sometimes I'm really organised and get cards made as they are ordered but when they give me loads of notice I leave it to the last minute. And this one is no exception! The request was for poppies, so poppies they got!

The image is from Delicious Doodles and I've coloured it with Promarkers plus some inking around the edges. The stamp is from the Our Betty Your Special Day set from Funky Hand and all the papers and ribbon are from my stash.

And I've used the Sweet Sketch Wednesday for inspiration:

And that's it!!

Christmas Decorations

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms as it is a week or two since I entered a Christmas challenge, plus I bought some fantastic bargains in the sales - all of which feature on this card! There is a great simple but strangely complicated (because it has to work just right!) sketch on Jingle Belles Rock this week.

I've used papers from the Dovecraft Let It Snow 12x12 stack and no, I cut into the sheet fine! I normally cannot bring myself to cut a part from such a large sheet but this time, I was ok! I bought the pad half price - £7.50 from Boundary Mill in the sales. Plus the 6x4 version too! This sheet is glittered although my very bad and blurred photo does not do the paper justice.

I've used two Christmas tree decorations too, which, yes you've guessed, I bought in the sales! The bottom one came in as part of a pack of 8 - 2 of each colour in equally vibrant pink, green and yellow from Sainsbury's. The top star with gem was from Matalan. And I am now quite sparkly myself!

The gem taken from the underside of the silver star has been added along with a few other gems to the top left of the cad. Waste not want not!

Ah, and here is the sketch!I think I'll be using this sketch again as I'm now in the mood for more Christmas cards! It won't last long, so don't worry!

Craft The Year Away!

Anice at Funky Hand has a new cd for release today! If you missed the show earlier this morning on Create and Craft then you will have missed just how wonderful this new cd - Craft The Year Away is!

It's the third cd in the Papercraft Factory format, but its had a mini makeover! You can now create your own verses and text to match the papers and there are some templates on the cd too - wobble cards and door hangers!

Each of the twelve colour collections are suited to a month of the year and to make this exploding box and baby shoes, I've used Evening In June and made the templates up as I've gone along. And it wasn't that plain sailing either as I managed to make two left feet, but I had enough paper printed to make another one!

The flowers have been cut using a Cuttlebug die and I've added buttons and string for detail.

The lid on the exploding box is a rather snug fit as I forgot to allow enough overhang!! But aren't the colours lovely?!

You'll have to wait until 1pm before you can buy the cd but the wait will be worth it! Some peeks of the cd have been shown on Get Funky! which is our challenge blog that runs from the funky fifteenth of the month for a whole month! You do need to use a Funky Hand element but with a freebie each month on offer that ties in with the challenge, you really are on a winner! And talking of winners, the top project gets a £20 voucher to spend on Funky Hand products!!

Going Buggy - Blog Hop - My Winner!!

Huge apologies for all those who have been wondering and waiting for me to announce who won my blog candy as part of Enfys' Blog Hop.

I'd not forgotten. Well, I did, then remembered and then forgot again. But I have remembered again!

I used a random number generator but can't get a screen shot for some reason, but it picked

Congratulations! Please email me your postal details to tiptoptoppers@btinternet.com and I can get some candy off to you!

Thank you to all who joined in and to all my new followers! I hope you like what you see and that you continue to follow me!!!

Simply Create Challenge 36 - Show Us Your Heart!

It's time for a new challenge on Simply Create! Judging by the amount of entries for our last challenge, you like our themes! Thank you for entering each time and I will get round to leaving comments - it's just the last two weeks have passed in a blur but I'm back on top of things now!

Anyway, the challenge this fortnight is

Show Us Your Heart

I've made this very easy card using a Kraft card blank (oh how I am enjoying these!) a bit of doodling around the edges plus some off cuts of patterned card I found in my stash from Kirsty Wisemans Patti Picklicious cd.

I've punched the two red hearts, glued the bunting and hearts to the string and then added some brads. You may think it is very similar to a card I showed earlier in the week - well, that one came first and this one second!

The stamp is a freebie I got from a magazine a while ago. Good luck with the challenge - for further details and how to enter, pop over to Simply Create and have a look whilst you are there at the other Design Team samples - very fantastic they are!

Good luck!

Polkadoodle Challenge 4 - Party Time!

It's Friday so time for another Polkadoodle challenge! This week it's all about parties! Tracie is throwing a Birthday party for her two boys this week so the theme is:

Party Time

My two boys have their Birthday's within a week of each other so I can understand what Tracie is going through with the planning and organisation! Our last joint party had around 40 kids!! I've used the very wonderful Paper Boutique Vol 3 as my inspiration this week. The space rocket is A5 in size and I've added the planet via a strip of acetate so that it boings around.

The card is double sided so which ever way you look at the card, it looks fab! I've also added some craft wire and threaded buttons through them for extra interest.

I have a feeling that I'll be making more of these rockets as they are great and easy to make too!

Good luck with the challenge - it is open until Sunday 6 February at 12noon GMT!

Cider Monster

A quick card made in for an order and the recipient happens to be one of my cousins who likes his cider!! I've used the Sketch and Stash challenge for the layout inspiration:

And made this card using a freebie Pollycraft image that I have changed slightly - rubbed out the 'beer' word on the t-shirt and added cider instead. He's been coloured with Promarkers and I've used papers from Funky Hand - Funky Daze cd - Son Day collection. I just never tire of using these papers for male cards (thank you Anice!)

I decided to go with random pointy bits at the bottom of the card rather than scallops as its more manly! The sentiment stamp is from Our Betty - Your Special Day stamp set, again from Funky Hand. Brads are from my stash. A bit of inking and edge doodling and its all complete!

Dude Time Doodles - February New Release & Blog Hop!

It's the third Wednesday of the month so it is time for the Dude Time Doodles Blog Hop and a preview of the new releases for February!

For my card, I've used a Kraft card blank with an off-cut of corrugated card that I found in my stash. The garden twine adds that bit of male-ness to it! And the brads are Papermania.

The image is Harold Hammock and I've added my own computer generated sentiment. The image has been coloured with Promarkers and is great for those male cards or to send as a get well soon card too!

If you've arrived at my blog from Cleota then you are on the right track, although the hop does not have a start or end point, and if you get distracted you can always start from the beginning! One member of the Design Team will be chosen as the Mystery Hostess and a lucky commentator from that blog will win a Dude Time Doodles image! So, you never know - that Mystery Hostess could be me - you have to be in it to win it, so leave me a comment!!

You now need to hop over to Hetty!

This is the last time Nancy will be taking part with the Dudettes as she is stepping down from the team - we wish her well - and from me - thanks for all your support! We are welcoming Chrissy D as our Guest Designer - hello!!

Good luck!

Craft Juice Tuesday - Week 49

Welcome to another week of Craft Juice Tuesday! Sorry its later than usual but I'm up to my eyes in stuff at the moment and I'm sure that time is running away faster than usual. So this is a little indulgent post - things I like for me!! For more details on each item, just click on the picture.

I just love BPRDesigns and this pendant is no exception!

And I like pottery too! From Little Wren Pottery

Hehe - and this one just made me smile! Buy from CraftyGina

See you next week (hopefully at the usual time of 9am!)

Simple Birthday

I was really pleased to have entered my first challenge on Pattie's Creations last week and also won the Allie's Choice Award with it! Thank you! This week the challenge is:

Black, White plus one other Colour and Digi Stamp

I've used the Party Dress, coloured with Promarkers (and a little glitter glue) and cut out leaving a thin white border around the image. I've also used my Nesties and Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background shapes plus some gems too.

The ribbon is from my stash and is a perfect match! I actually printed the image twice and the coloured one in lilac but ran out of time to make that card, so it will be ready for another one in the future and I'll feel really organised - much more than I'm feeling right now!!!

Green, Cute and Brads

This was one of those cards that came together rather quickly and has given me an idea for some more cards that I've been asked to make (at very short notice!) so that's what I'll be doing tonight!

The challenge on Cooking It Up With Katie is:

Cute, Green and Brads

So here we have it - and I hope its cute enough! The papers are from Funky Daze from Funky Hand and are all from my bits box. The brads are from my stash along with the string.

I've doodled a fine line and a running line around the edge of the card, plus a little inking and running line on the banners too. The sentiment is from the Our Betty - Special Day stamp set and I'm always a little nervous about stamping directly onto a card, but these stamps are perfect every time!

Polkadoodle Challenge 3 - There's No Place Like Home

It's Friday so it's time for another Polkadoodle challenge! This week the theme is:

There's No Place Like Home

And we want to see projects and cards suitable for a new house. I've used one of the fabulous house stamps, simply stamped it and then coloured it with Promarkers! Really quick and easy to do and if you are unsure of your colouring its not too difficult as there is not a lot of one area to cover.
I've used the two largest Nesties from the set to create the shapes - the image is raised up on foam pads and the ribbon sits neatly underneath. Edges have been inked and I've dotted a border with a blue gel pen on the bottom shape.

The Kraft card is a new addition to my stash and the ribbon is a left over length from making Christmas cards!

Hope you can join the challenge this week - its open until Sunday 30 January at 12noon GMT. Good luck!

Heart Balloons

The monthly Penny Black at Allsorts challenge is:

All You Need Is Love

I found this sweet Penny Black stamped image in my stash and I thought it was perfect for the challenge! I've coloured it with Aquamarkers plus used some watercolour paint for the blue background wash as I've not yet expanded my Aquamarker range sufficiently!

I've used off-cuts of card that have been embossed with the Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls folder as the background, and the red layered card is from my stash, along with the red organza ribbon.

With it being such a lovely image (and quite big too!) I didn't want it to look lost on the card and for it to be the main focal point.

Dude Time Doodles Challenge 6 - Inspiration - Anything But A Card

Welcome to another Dude Time Doodles challenge! This week it is an inspiration challenge to use the following image and to create something other than a card:

The Design Team have made some excellent projects so please do have a look! I've made some wobble head pencil toppers to stop the kids from biting the ends!

I've used KO Kurt, Jose Hosed, Mo and Henry Hero, all coloured with Promarkers then laminated. I've used oddments of card for the reverse and to hold the craft wire in place.

To enter the challenge you need to follow the theme, make something masculine and get your entry in by 25 January. Good luck!

Baby Pink Giraffe

And here is the other half to this card! This one is for the Pattie's Creations challenge which is:

Anything Goes

I've used one of Pattie's images (I won the recent blog hop and picked this image along with a few others!) and its been coloured with Promarkers. I've layered it onto the largest Nesties shape and dotted a pink gel pen around the edges and also the edge of the card.

The backing paper is from Candy Doodles from Polkadoodles with the organza ribbon and charm from my stash. This is such a cute image and I have a feeling that I will be using it a lot more as it is a dream to colour! Thank you Pattie!

Party at Going Buggy - The Hop!

I hope you are enjoying the week long party on Enfys' blog! And today it is the blog hop!! En asked me a while ago if I'd like to be part of it - how could I resist?!

And I've made a card too as I don't like to blog without a picture! There is still a card challenge running on her week long party which is bugs - click here to be taken to the post - you have until Saturday 22 January to get your entry in!

I've used a kraft card blank, used some Stampin Up ribbon (tempting turquoise) plus a wonderful stamped image from Polkadoodles which I've coloured with Promarkers. The turquoise and yellow layers are from my stash and the little tiny pearls are from Bunny Zoe's Crafts.

So, onto the Blog Hop! If you've arrived at my blog from Papercraft Inspirations Magazine blog then you are on the right track! All you have to do, is sign up to follow my blog, add a comment to this post and then hop on over to Paul on the Letraset blog!

I am so chuffed to be the letter between these two places - I am a subscriber to Papercraft Inspirations and I do love my Promarkers and Aquamarkers - how did I manage before I discovered these gems?!

Anyway, the letter you need from me is E. Keep it safe! Good luck! And I'll draw a random entry from my blog to win a bit of candy too - don't know what it will be yet but I'll find something!! You've got to be in it to win it!

Baby Blue Giraffe

Apologies for the slightly dark photo - its been chucking it down all day and the light has been terrible! This is for the Passion for Promarkers challenge which is:

Card for a Baby

As I am on a mission to use up all my scraps and pre-printed digi papers, I found a folder with scraps from Polkadoodles Candy Doodles cd. So all the papers you see on this card are from that cd along with a very sweet image that I won over on Pattie's Creations. I've coloured it with Promarkers, added a dotted line around the edge and then some buttons from my stash.

I've made a little baby girl one too but that's for later in the week as I like to make both baby boy and girl cards at the same time for some strange reason!

I told you I'd done well with crafting this afternoon!

Typewriter and Procreating Washing

I've had a pretty productive day today. Crafting and housework. I've managed to get a head start on some of my Design Team commitments, or at least they are started (I have around 7 projects on the go at any one time!) plus I've managed to almost catch up on the HUGE amount of washing. There was only one day this last week that I didn't do any washing and I swear it reproduces on its own!

Six loads washed and almost dried with a further 2 to do; anyone would think there was more than 4 of us in this household.....

Anyway. I managed to get the card completed for the Tiddly Inks challenge which is:

Refresh Me (or all white card)

Ok, so mine has black on it too, but I guessed that with the image being black to start with, I was allowed otherwise how would you see it. See - method in my madness! It's a Tiddly Inks image which I have been itching to use and now I can as I need to send a letter (yes a letter - not an email!) as I forgot in the run up to Christmas and as the recipient is a card maker too I feel she will appreciate it!

I've used my trusty Studio G mini wooden alphabet stamps for the wording, Nesties for the layered shapes. And a confession. I didn't leave enough space for a spine to the card and ended up cutting two shapes. Hence the eyelets and black ribbon tie!

Everything is from my stash as off-cuts and I've used a Cuttlebug embossing die for one of the layers. A quick card to make but it still took me 4 days to finish it! Good job its already late as not sent before Christmas!

Funky Fifteenth - Going Round In Circles

It's time for a new monthly challenge on Get Funky! But we've changed it around a little! Instead of the first of every month we will be setting a new challenge on the Funky Fifteenth of every month and the hostess of the challenge will launch it with a Funkette adding inspiration every third day to the challenge blog. You still get a whole month to enter and this month the challenge ends on 14 February at 7pm GMT.

You still need to use a Funky Hand product, but each month to tie in with the challenge Anice will generously be offering a little freebie to download and use. This way, you get a freebie AND you can still enter the challenge!

So head on over to Get Funky! and see what is on offer!

Allison has set the challenge for this month:

Going Round In Circles

My creation will be revealed on 2 February so I can't show it yet, but what I can show and that you really do need to get is a card made with the fantastic new Our Betty clear acrylic stamps! I've used the Your Special Day set to make this card and as luck would have it, there are circles on it! These stamps are launched on the Funky Hand website today so make sure you get your order in before stocks run out!

They stamp beautifully each time and are a dream to colour - I've used Promarkers plus liquid pearls on her dress. Papers are from Funky Daze (Son Day collection) and I've used two Nesties to cut the shapes. Ribbon is from my stash. The stamps in each set are interchangeable and can be used to either build up a scene or individually and all work well both ways.

Good luck with the challenge - see you over on the Challenge Blog!

Simply Create Challenge 35 - Punch It Out!

Welcome to another Simply Create challenge! Our name has changed from Simple Doodles so in case you were wondering what on earth I was talking about, now you know!! The challenge this fortnight is:

Punch It Out!

So we want to see your punches however simple or fancy they may be! I've used a Martha Stewart edge punch on the edge of my card - the bottom part of the fold is not punched but you can't see it in the photo...!

I've used a Fairy Dreams die cut decoupage sheet for the image and added a little bit of glitter. These are such sweet images to use and really easy to assemble too! The backing papers are from my stash so I'm not sure where they came from.

The organza ribbon is from my stash and was just long enough for the bow!

Hope you can join in with the challenge! Pop over to the blog for more details and to enter!

Cutie!

There's a new challenge blog - Bearly-Mine challenges and their first one is a sketch:

The stipulation for each challenge is to follow the theme and to use Bearly Mine digital papers. Which is not difficult with a great range of freebies to download! And I've used two of them! The card blank is the other part of this card which looks a bit purple in this photo although in real life it is more pink.

I've rounded the corners of the papers and inked them. The image has been coloured with Promarkers and is from Soft Pencil and I've used a set of Nesties to cut and layer the image. The chocolate brown pearlescent card is left over from some Wedding stationery I made in 2009 (see - I just don't throw things away!)
The Prima flowers I found in my stash and the Papermania sparkly brads I bought from Hobbycraft at the weekend for 49p - bargain!

Polkadoodle Challenge 2 - Sketch & Colour Theme

It's Friday again and time for another Polkadoodle challenge! This week Nikky has provided a sketch and also a colour theme - here is the sketch:

And the colour theme is Red, White and Blue

I've made an A5 sized card using the Truck template from the brand new Paper Boutique Vol 3 cd (did you see Nikky on telly last weekend launching it?!) I've only used the front elements but layered them up and the backing paper is also from the same cd.

Although you can't see it too well (in fact not at all!) I've glittered the front lights and grille so it forms the last part of the sketch (I knew it was a bad idea when I was doing it - so lesson learnt!)

The sentiment has been cut with an off cut of white card using my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet dies. A bit of faux stitching around the edges of the card and its complete.

Hope you can join the challenge this week - the deadline is Sunday 23 January at 12noon GMT and please combine this challenge with a maximum of 9 others. Good luck!

  • Dies: Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet

Bubble Bath

This was a pretty quick card to put together once I'd re-discovered the card base! The card base is an off-cut from something that I got last time when I visited the Scrap Store. Its the perfect size to make a square card (I got two out of the length that I had plus some spare) and is a lovely pinky purple slightly embossed thick card. Its sort of like wall paper but a lot thicker.

So the challenge this is for is Bugaboo which is:

Embossing

The card is embossed plus I've added a panel that has been through the Swiss Dots folder - I glued it down before I realised the image would cover most of it - doh!! The image is Bugaboo which has been coloured with Promarkers and I've added some tiny flat back pearls from Bunny Zoe's Crafts for bubbles.

The ribbon is from my stash and as luck would have it, a perfect match! I've layered the image onto random bits of card also from my stash (the box level is slowly going down!)

  • Image: Bugaboo, coloured with Promarkers
  • Embossing: Cuttlebug Swiss Dots
  • Half pearls: Bunny Zoe's Crafts

Going Bowling

A good and easy sketch this time over on Cards for Men:
I've used a great image from Dude Time Doodles - Larry Lane, who has been coloured with Promarkers. The three little bowling pins I've had for ages; I'm a bit of a hoarder and don't like to throw anything away as it could come in useful one day! These are from a cracker and I knew they would be perfect for a bowling card one day!

The papers are from Funky Hand - Girls and Boys and again I'm using up my scraps! A bit of inking and faux stitching and the card is complete! You'll have to excuse the bit of glue that you can see under one of the pins - Jacob was much aggrieved that I'd used them and moved it!

Party at Going Buggy!

Well, we all like a good party and what better than an online party and celebration that lasts a week! Enfys is doing just that to say thank you to all her followers and email subscribers and today is day one!

She has set a challenge of making a card that features a bug on it. This can include butterflies, dragonflies, bees etc and you could be in with a chance of winning some fantastic stash! For more details and how to enter click HERE to be taken to her blog! Ever day over the next week there will be prizes to win over on her blog!

I'll be popping up later in the week too as part of Enfys' celebrations, so keep watching my blog for further details!!

To enter Day One challenge create a card with a bug and go to Enfys' blog to link up your card - the challenge closes on Saturday 22 January at 12noon GMT.

For my card, I've used a Digi Sparkle image which has been coloured with Pomarkers and layered onto Funky Hand Girls and Boys download papers plus some random papers from my stash. A few gems here and there, bit of corner rounding and some inking and the card is complete! Plus bonus points for me here as I've used offcuts from my bits box and the card base is waste from the Scrap Store! The ribbon is Stampin Up and its called Tempting Turqoise!

Good luck in entering the challenge and I shall see you later in the week for more fun!

Merry Little Christmas

I feel like I'm doing really well in being prepared for Christmas this year. Although don't know how long that feeling will last once the weather warms up (if it ever does!)

Jingle Belles Rock has a theme of:

Have Yourself a Merry *LITTLE* Christmas

With the emphasis being on little. As I've done pretty well (even if I say it myself!) in the January sales so I've used two of my purchases to make these little 9cm square cards. Both sets use papers from Dovecrafts Let It Snow 4.5 x 6.5 glitter double sided paper stack (bargain at £2.99 in the Range!)

I've used my Nesties to cut the shapes - the largest one for the bottom half shape and then the smallest two to layer the embellishments on. The little sparkly gifts and snowflakes are from three packs of Christmas embellishments for 29p each from Hobbycraft - I've simply changed the colour of the gem in the centre of the green themed cards to a green gem and then added a gem to the top of each of the gifts.

The turquoise ribbon is Tempting Turquoise from Stampin Up and the green I think is Dovecraft and it was in my stash.

Although you can't see it properly (rubbish photos but I blame not having enough daylight!) the blue papers are sparkly and all the gifts are too! Very pretty!

String of Hearts

A great sketch from Oldie But A Goodie challenge this fortnight:

And I've made this sweet valentine or anniversary card! The stamp is Penny Black which I bought from here and its been coloured with Aquamarkers plus watercolours for the sky. All the papers are from Funky Hand's Colour Me Happy cd and I've used my two largest Nesties to cut out the image and backing.

The flowers, bling, button and pearl heart are all from my stash. And I've just realised I've not added a sentiment. Ah well!

Baby Blue

I found a new challenge site last week - CD Sunday and entered the challenge, so have decided to go with this weeks too, which is:

Check It Out

Basically, as long as something from a crafting CD has been used and the theme has been followed, then it can be entered! I've used papers from Candy Doodles from Polkadoodles plus an off-cut that I found in the scraps box.

The punch is a Martha Stewart one and I've used the off-cut from making the card blank (trying to cut down on waste - not that I throw much away anyway!) The ribbon, found in my ribbon bag was just about the right length hence why it is not tied!

The cute bear, coloured with Promarkers is from Digi Sparkle. I've used one of my Nesties to cut around the image and added three square brads from my stash to the top corner. A bit of inking and corner rounding and the card is complete!

I have a feeling that, time permitting, I will be entering each week for these CD Sunday challenges as most of my stash is digital and on a CD!

Polkadoodle Challenge 1 - A Wish for the New Year!

Welcome to the first Polkadoodle challenge of 2011! Emma has set the challenge this week and it is:

A Wish for the New Year!

This can be interpreted however you wish, but remember to follow the theme and not to enter your creation into more than 10 challenges including Polkadoodles otherwise you won't be eligible for a top three placing. The challenge runs until Sunday 16 January at 12noon GMT.

I've used the cupcake template from the brand new CD which is Paper Boutique volume 3 and will be released tomorrow live at 12noon and 3pm on Sky channel 671. This cupcake is made up of layers, a bit like decoupage, but you can layer it up as much as you want and have the freedom to make it how you want too!

There is also a pink version but I've gone for the lime green A5 pre-coloured version (sizes are A6, A5 and A4 in black and white for you to colour or paper piece yourself or pre-coloured versions). The ribbon bow at the top actually closes my cupcake so the concertina fold is at the base of the cupcake.

A bit of glitter glue here and there and a handwritten sentiment and its good to go! And almost as good to eat! There are lots of shaped cards or templates on the cd - Spaceman, Rocket, Robot, Bathing Hippo, Truck, Flowers - lots and lots and all a lot of fun and really easy to make!

Good luck in entering the challenge!
