Polkadoodle Challenge 40 - Handmade Flowers

Welcome to another Polkadoodle challenge! This week the theme is

Handmade Flowers

It's not often I make an easel card mainly because I can never get the dimensions right but I solved it this time by making a larger central panel and adding this!

I've used Flutterby Fairy Maggie stamp (had to do some masking to add the wings - another new technique for me!) and coloured her and the toadstools with Promarkers. The papers are from the brand new cd Pretty Sweet and I've made my flowers with rolled up paper raffia and a fair dollop of glue!

A little bit of faux stitching around the edges and some inking plus a bit of ribbon and embroidery thread from my stash and my card is complete!

Crimbo Crackers!

If you're a regular visitor to my blog then you will know that I am a Christmas all year around kinda gal and I'm happy in the heat of summer (or October if in the UK!) making things sparkle and look frosty!

So, with this in mind, I've set up a brand new challenge blog called

Dude Time Doodles Challenge 23 - Think Pink

The first Wednesday of the month for Dude Time Doodles is usually a sketch challenge however its Breast Cancer Awareness month for the whole of October so we've had a little change and the challenge this week is:

Think Pink

I've used the Breast Cancer Awareness Girl plus one of the sentiments (the set is half price at the moment - $2.25 so go and get it!) I've coloured her with my Promarkers and added a little glitter glue to the pink ribbon on her suit.

Papers are from my rather overflowing box of offcuts and I have a feeling this one is from Funky Hand - Funky Daze cd. I used one of my Nesties to draw round to create the shape and then cut it out by hand. The ribbon is from my stash and is actually a better match in real life than the photo shows.

Paris In October

Sometimes when you see something you just have to buy it! And this kit was no exception! It is a Jodie Lee digi kit called Ooh La La! And I bought it from Jessica Sprauge on a dollar Wednesday deal. I just knew it would come in handy!

It's actually a digi kit and most of the elements are to be overlaid with others but I just printed them and cut them out! I've used a kraft card blank from my stash plus a few flowers cos it looked a little flat.

It probably needs something else but not sure what as this is a bit outside of my usual style. But I like it and I think I'll try again!

Fetch A Sketch Challenge 8

It's time for another Fetch A Sketch challenge and we are upto number 8 already! We have a very fab sponsor this fortnight and I was so pleased when Christy agreed to sponsor us! It's the one and only Tiddly Inks! And the very generous prize is a $10 gift certificate to spend at Tiddly Inks!

The sketch we are asking you to work with this fortnight has been magic'd up by Jenny and yes, we like our simple and sweet sketches!


We've both used Tiddly Ink images for our creations (I already have quite a collection as I think they are great!) I've gone for Soccer King and coloured him with Promarkers. All the papers are from Funky Hand - Craft The Year Away cd and I've used a Sizzix die to cut the grass shapes.


The big red felt star was sent to me by Jenny (thank you!) and the two gold star brads are from my stash. A bit of faux stitching and some inking here and there and the card is complete!

Too Many Mince Pies

I do like this image from Dustin Pike! I got it as part of the July Bundle of Christmas images and I think I got around 100 images too so I have a fair few left to work my way through! It's been coloured with Promarkers and I've added glitter glue to his suit fur.

The spotty paper is from Polkadoodles Paper Boutique Vol 2 printed A5 size. I discovered I had some small Cuttlebug embossing folders when looking for the Quickutz fairy lights die, so I embossed a bit of acetate I had left on the table from my previous post. I never know how to stick acetate down without the gunk showing through, so I used glossy accents and its worked!

I've added a string of fairy lights with a Quickutz die and a hand drawn line plus the sentiment was hand written too. This is a card towards the order I have and it will be going to one of those tricky males!

Acrylic Christmas

I really do and try and enter the Tiddly Ink challenges as I find the images quirky but cute. But sometimes time is not on my side and everything else takes priority. However, as soon as I saw the current challenge:

Use Acrylic

I knew exactly what I was going to make. And somehow it took me all week to make when in reality it only took about 30 mins to put it all together!

I've used the snowman sentiment image which was a freebie last year but it seems that it is retired as I can't find it either in the Tiddly Inks store or basement. I've layered it onto a random bit of printed card that I found (on the floor as my box is now overflowing!) and added a dotted line of 3d silver paint around the edge.

The acrylic is a sheet of acetate that has gone through the Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder and I've attached it to the card blank. The join is hidden with some eyelash fibres (which look a bit like snow!) and then I've added a silver star charm.

And its another ticked off my list!

Kite

Despite knowing that my Mum has a Birthday very soon (Monday) I still leave making her card to the last minute! However, for once I was glad I did as I really liked how this one came together and she liked it too when I gave it to her today!


The kraft card blank is from my stash and I've used papers from Funky Hand's Craft The Year Away cd and I've distressed the edges with scissors.

I've added some embroidery thread (scrap store) plus card candy and the sentiment was printed onto Safmat and then added to the paper. A little bit of doodling and the card is complete!

World Card Making Day 2011

It's World Card Making Day today and although I won't actually be making any cards (Birthday parties to attend!) I will be doing some colouring this afternoon!


And to make it even more special, over at Jellypark there is a little temptation for you! Claire has drawn a wonderful crafting basket image which is free for you to snag and if you do create something with it, go back to Jellypark and link up your card as you could win a fantastic £10 voucher to spend at Jellypark! But you have to be quick - its only available for this weekend!

I've used the wonderful image to create quite a titchy card! The card blank I got from a recent trip to our local Scrap Store and its perfect for such little cards! I've used the free Jellypark image and coloured it with Promarkers and used a scrap of paper from Pretty Sweet cd from Polkadoodles.

The embroidery thread is also from the same trip to the Scrap Store. I've pretended to make some tiny brads by using a black fine tip pen and then adding glossy accents over the top - easy peasy!
