And I Wasn't There To See It.......!!

Samuel took part in his fourth outdoor race of the year on Sunday - he wasn't originally going to be there as the Daytona Manchester Inkart Festival should have been on the same day but its now this coming Sunday, so it meant Samuel could race at Hooton Park.

He had a really good test day the day before (so I was told - wasn't there either as Jacob had a football match but it was cancelled last minute due to illness!) and was feeling confident going into the qualifying round on Sunday.

He qualified with the third fastest time from 18 drivers so that placed him 3rd on the grid for heat 1.  He finished that in second place, so he was 2nd on the grid for the second and final heat.  And finished second in that too.  So he was second on the grid for the final race!

Anyway, I was kept upto date on his progress during the afternoon as Jacob had a Birthday party to attend and I decided to brave Asda and then popped to Staples as they were having a closing down sale.  I was in the middle of Staples when I got the call to say where he'd finished in the final race and must have looked like a right nutter!

So here he is on the podium - he took third place and his first ever outdoor trophy (he has 9 from indoors plus on Sunday he gets the second place Championship trophy too!)  The 4th and 5th placed drivers also got trophies too and first and second stood on the same step!  Samuel is the one in all black in the centre of the three stood together:

I think it's sunk in now with Samuel that he's won a trophy for outdoor karting after collecting so many indoors as its not an easy transition; its cold and wet most of the time!!

A Very Big Whoo-hooo for Kath!

My Funky Hand DT team mate Kath has only gone and won Card Designer of the Year 2008 for Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine!!!!!!!

Pic 'borrowed' from her blog! I've rushed out and bought a copy and pointed out the the checkout assistant in Asda that I know Kath. I got a bit of a blank look which said 'nutter'....... ah well! I'm very chuffed for Kath as she is such a good team member and great fun!

Look what was sat waiting for me to open when I got home from work on Friday!

I'd been a winner on fellow Funky Hand DT mate Chris' recent blog giveaway and I'd actually won the Studio G clear stamp set, but look what else she sent me!

I don't have a huge amount of stamps yet (they and the ink pads fit nicely into a reasonable sized plastic lunchbox at the moment) so the stamped images are really appreciated! I think some of them will challenge my watercolouring skills though so may have to revert back to pencils!

And the card enlosed is beautiful! The photos don't really do it justice but there is some really nice glittery bits on it! It will be on my mantlepeice as soon as the boys' Birthday Cards come down!

I while ago I entered Sarah's competition on her blog to win some beautiful strawberry earrings. And I am such a numpty, I forgot to check to see if I was lucky! Anyway, eventually I did and found that I had!! So I apologetically emailed Sarah who was very lovely and understanding and she popped these little beauties in the post to me:

Just a quick post to say a big Thank You to Jozza - I won her blog candy giveaway, and it arrived on Saturday! Not had much chance to have a play with it all yet but managed to make these two cards last night with two of the stamped images included in the package:


The backing paper is from either V Funky or Now That's Funky (sorry, I can't remember - but no doubt someone will confirm which one!) Both cards have grosgrain ribbon towards the spine, the stamped pram is coloured with watercolour pencils and I've added gems for the wheels. Anita's 3d glitter paint adds more bling for baby!

It's only once a year I have a flutter on the horses when its Grand National Time. There was a virtual sweepstake on the Crafts Forum by Incywincy. And I picked the winner - Comply or Die! So here is my winnings! Thank you Incywincy!
