Crafty Downloads - September Challenge - Sports & Leisure

It's a new month and a new challenge over on Crafty Downloads! For September, the challenge is:

Sports and Leisure

It's really easy to enter the Crafty Downloads monthly challenges - you simply follow the theme and use a Crafty Download image (you can find one here for free!) and anything else you want! The challenge is also open for a month, so plenty of time to get creating! To enter, leave a comment on the relevant post on the challenge blog and I can then pop by and visit you to see your creations!
My only dilemma this month was which image to use! In the end I decided on Soccer Star Thomas as I had just printed off the perfect backing papers for a little boy! The papers have been designed by Funky Hand for Craft4Charity (Boys and Girls collection) - you can only buy the cd from the charity. Lots of other designers contributed but I do like the Funky Hand papers!

I've simply layered up the papers (printed off to A5 size), inked and then doodled a border around the edges. The sentiment is handwritten. Thomas has been coloured with watercolour pencils and he was a joy to colour - really easy! I do like it when a card is easy to make!

Hope you can join in with the September challenge - would love to see your creations!

Crafty Downloads - August Challenge

I've a little bit of delayed news to share! I've been asked to be part of the Crafty Downloads team - I entered the July Challenge and was approached once it had closed! I was also the joint winner for July! It's a very new Challenge blog and the August challenge is only the second but you do have a month to create your entry!

The rules are simple - to follow the challenge for that particular month and to use a Crafty Downloads product. There is a freebie which was offered for July which can be found here - so no excuses not to join in!

The challenge for August, in celebration of Scotty's new baby boy is:

Birthstones

Mine is April which is diamond, so I've used Rainy Day Molli and the raindrops I have converted to little tiny diamond gem stones. The spotty backing paper is a freebie download which was created by Kirsty Wiseman but offered for a limited time through Crafts Beautiful. So I was quick off the mark to get this one!

The pale blue backing paper is an offcut from a previous project and is from Now That's Funky. Ribbon is from my stash and I hand wrote the sentiment.

I've coloured Molli with watercolour pencils and she is lovely to colour too - really easy shapes and not too much detail.

So why not pop over to Crafty Downloads and have a go at the monthly challenge? I know there is not much left of August, but September is only around the corner and you get a freebie to work with!

Pink, Fluffy and Felt Tips

Although I try not to, I do look out for new challenge blogs. I really shouldn't because its not like I have oodles of time on my hands, but sometimes the challenges set make me smile and I know what I want to make!

Anyway, I found this one - Crafty Downloads whilst visiting my Funky Hand DT mate Allison. So Allison, its all your fault! This is their first challenge and I had the option to download the cute Angelic Molli as the theme is:

Pink and Fluffy
I've used some backing paper that I found in my stash which I printed a while ago when, unknown to me, the colour ink was running out so the colours should not really be like this, but not one to throw things away, I knew I'd be able to reuse it! The paper is from Funky Daze and I've used it to cover a tall and thin card blank. I've lightly inked the edges in pink and have done the same with the image. I've layered the image onto some scrap pearlescent pink card.

The pink and fluffy ensemble is made up of a number of things! The large backing flower and very pretty embossed pink flower were sent to me by Jenny (I'd sent her some stamped images that she had admired on Kath's blog and Jenny sent me a lovely stash of stuff in return!) the fabric covered button I bought from PeggyCrafts and the fluffy stuff I've had in my stash for absolutely ages!

I've coloured Molli with my new felt tips, then worked over the top with watercolour pencils and finally added some highlights with a white gel pen. Her wings have had the glitter glue treatment because wings just need to be glittery!
There are some lovely images to purchase via the challenge blog so I'd say, go and have a look!
