CRAFT Challenge - May Guest Designer - Blog Hop!

Happy Birthday To Us
Happy Birthday To Us
Happy Birthday Dear CRAFT Challenge
Happy Birthday To Us!

Can you believe it? CRAFT Challenge is already 6 years old. Originally started by Tracy from Just Tracy Crafts and with a DT mostly recruited from Trimcraft forum members (Hence the term CRAFT Challenge, which stood for Crafters Residing Are Friendly Trimmies. Or if you wished alternative meaning of Can't Remember A Flipping Thing) on the 4th of May 2009.

We have now grown to be a large team of Design Team Members from all around the world, supplemented with lots of Guest Designers who join us for a month at a time.

We have always welcomed all kinds of craft, not just paper craft (unless specifically stated so in the challenge at the time) and are happy to have such a large group of faithful followers.  So, how are we going to celebrate this milestone?

Well, how else can we celebrate than to have our yearly Blogaversary Blog Hop?  We all feature one of our sponsors for this blog hop on our blogs and I have the honour of featuring and offering a prize from the following sponsor. You can win this prize by adding your name to Inlinkz at the end of this post. I would love to see your comments as well.

The prize to be won is 2 images
from Doctor Digi House of Stamps.

How can you get to win any of the prizes provided by our sponsors?

That is easy! Just follow the route on our blog hop (you can also find that in our side banner), Our Blog Hop lasts for the duration of this challenge, which means a closing time of Wednesday 6pm GMT on 20 May 2015.

And here are our little rules for this challenge/blog hop:

What can you win on our challenge blog? The winner of the winning sentence wins the special pack by Trimgym's Digital Stamps and Images.

You should have come here from Shona's blog and as you can see your next stop is CRAFT Challenge Blog. The start and finish of this blog hop are at CRAFT Challenge Blog.

And here is my project as Guest Designer for this week, hope you like it. I have used 'Cake and Candles' by Doctor Digi House of Stamps.

CRAFT Challenge - May Guest Designer - Sketch

I was lucky enough a while ago to win a CRAFT challenge and part of the prize was to join the team as a Guest Designer for May, so here is my first challenge with them!

It's a sketch to follow and for full details pop over to the CRAFT challenge blog.

The sponsor I was assigned for the challenge was Sunflowerfields and the image I've used is called Strawberry Muffin.  I've coloured it with Promarkers and found a perfect offcut of patterned paper in my stash.  Everything else is also from my stash.

I hope you can join in with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

Doubleclick Skittles:  For Mum or Girl
I Love Promarkers:  Anything Goes
Penny's Paper Crafty:  Anything Goes
Ruby's Rainbow:  Anything Goes

Dad - You're A Star!

This was such a great card to make! I've used some freebie paper I got probably a few years ago from a card magazine - I downloaded the file as I find that the actual giveaway in the magazine is a bit hard to use as the paper quality is not always the best.

The star is one of my own templates and I've used my Sizzix Round-A-Bout alphabet set for the Dad letters and Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet for the You're A Star sentiment.

A bit of inking with black and a red inkpad and the card is complete!

It fits the following challenges:

Ladybug Crafts: It's All About The Males
Crafting For All Seasons: Father's Day
Ambers Cards and Crafts: Special Man
Paper Play: Fathers Day
Delightful Challenges: Fathers Day
Craft Us Crazy: Fathers Day
CRAFT Challenge: Fathers Day
Sew Many Challenges: Fathers Day
Fussy and Fancy: For A Male
Alphabet Challenge: F for Fathers Day
Secret Crafter: For A Male
One Stop Craft: Fathers Day
Sentimental Sunday's: Fathers Day

  • Papers: Free from a magazine a few years ago
  • Dies: Sizzix Round-A-Bout and Cuttlebug Baby Face

Robot Doorhanger

The CRAFT challenge this week is a good one! It is:

Doorhangers

Which I do like to make! This one has been made with the very brand new download Rainbow Polkadots from Funky Hand which has all the colours of the rainbow (plus some!) in both positive and negative dot patterns (coloured background/white dots or coloured dots/white background).

I actually had a brain wave when making the doorhanger as I always struggle to get a nice neat finish for the hole, so I used my scalloped Nestabilities, only that I didn't quite manage to line them up properly so its a little more scalloped than I intended!

The little robot is from Craft The Year Away, also from Funky Hand and I've made him large enough to fit on the doorhanger (all the digis can be made as big as A4 without any quality loss) and he's been coloured with Promarkers and a few dabs of glossy accents here and there. I was a bit cack handed when cutting out his antennae so he has wire and a button instead!

I've added some card candy to the aperture and a bit of inking and doodling a line around the edge and the doorhanger is complete!

Space Boy

A really good challenge this week on CRAFT -

Out Of This World

This is a card made with digital images by Gordon Fraser, coloured with Promarkers and bought from here. I've added a cut of paper to look like a planet from Funky Fairy.

A bit of doodling around the edges and that is it! With the image, there are two other space children, another sentiment and other space related stuff too! A bargain for 80p!

It's Officially Summer!

Yes! It is officially summer!! And not yet the end of January! No, I'm not loosing my marbles - I've just heard the chimes of an ice-cream van. So it must be summer, right?!

And Valentine's Day has not yet been! This is my entry into the current CRAFT challenge which is a colour challenge of:

Red

Which currently equals Valentines! I've made this (please excuse the very dodgy photo - it was early this morning and I had to use the halogen lights in the kitchen - don't know what happened with the card being lop-sided but I will blame me being tired!) from odds and ends from my stash.

The two red felt hearts are cut with a Sizzix die, there is a red fimo sparkly heart made by me, a punched heart and general buttons, beads and another fab Asda earring just right of centre! The musical heart is punched from music printed vellum.

I think it needs a sentiment, but don't yet know so will add it later. I have Jacob to thank for the buttons on this as he sorted them out for me and picked his favourites! Watch out Lynsey!!!

New House

Another new challenge site for me - again found whilst looking at fellow Polkadoodle DT mate Saskia's blog (it's all your fault!) and I came across CRAFT challenges!

This week the brief is to:

make an unusual shaped card - no squares or rectangles allowed!
I was asked to make a new home card for a work colleague as her son and girlfriend have just moved house (he loves windsurfing, hence the board and strange shorts) and I was given a sketch of what their flat looked like - they are actually on the top floor and that's why I've only done three windows - it symbolises their floor.....!
I've used a template from Craftwork cards, and have used Fiskars embossing boards for the roof and bricks on the house, chalked and inked them and then added the windows over the top. The window frames have been cut with a concentric rough square Cuttlebug die with vellum added for the glass.

The little people are Sizzix die cuts and I've adapted some of the shapes so they would fit with the theme. The surfboard is my own template.

The sentiment has been attached with wire.
