Dude Time Doodles - September New Release & Blog Hop!

It's the last Wednesday of the month so its time to reveal the new Dude Time Doodles images and to kick it all off we have a blog hop for you!

One of the Dudettes will be the hostess with the mostest and one lucky commenter will win a digi image! So make sure you leave me a comment - I've not yet been the hostess so this could be the one!!

If you've arrived at me from Dawn then you are on the right track although there is no start and end point, just make sure you've visited us all! From me you need to hop to Cleota and leave a comment there too!!

I've used Need A Pee image, coloured with Promarkers and I've made a doorhanger for the powder room! Printed card (and glued together in layers for extra strength) is from my stash and I've used my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet set to cut the letters and then they have been glittered.

Bit of faux stitching and I've made some dangly charm things with beads from my stash (had for way too long without using them!) and covered the messy bits with ribbon and bows.

Good luck with the hop and don't forget to leave a comment! Once I'm awake I'll directly link to the blogs in the hop before and after me! All the Halloween images in the store will have 50% off until the end of September.

I'd like to enter my creation into the following challenges:

Shopping Our Stash: Sassy, Snarky or LOL

Pile It On: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Stamptacular Sunday Challenge: Diva
Just Some Lines: Anything But a Card

  • Papers: From my Stash
  • Image: Dude Time Doodles, coloured with Promarkers
  • Dies: Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet set, Spellbinder Nestabilities for the aperture
  • Everything else: My stash

Spotty Red Dots

I've increased my Christmas card target to 150 as I was almost at the original target of 100 and its not quite September yet!! I do like a challenge, and I think I just could make this one!! To meet it, I'll have to make around 27 cards in September and October and then the rest can follow in November. My first Christmas fair is mid October and then I have another mid November.

But this little cutie won't be going to any of the fairs as it is part of an order and is for a 7 year old Niece (1 down, all the rest to go, Claire!) It's a Whimsie Doodles image which I got for a recent challenge win and Santa Leah has been coloured with Promarkers and glitter glue (quite a lot as it took a few hours to dry!)

The paper is from the Rainbow Polkadots download from Funky Hand and I printed it at A5 size for smaller spots. Sentiment is computer generated and the red card is from my stash, along with the ribbon (just the perfect length too!) and the snowflake confetti.

I've added a thin glitter border around the edge of the spotty paper (you just can't see it) and a silver gel pen dotted line around the edge of the sentiment and image. I used my Nesties as a template to draw around.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

Whimsie Doodles: Anything Goes
Sweet Stop Sketches: Sketch used
Designed 2 Delight: Christmas for a Child
Bah Humbug: Girly

  • Image: Whimsie Doodles, coloured with Promarkers and glitter glue
  • Papers: Rainbow Polkadots download from Funky Hand
  • Sentiment: Computer generated
  • Dies: Spellbinder Nestabilities as a template
  • Everything else: My stash

Bookmarks

It's sometimes a lot easier to make girly bookmarks but I like the look of this Tiddly Inks image so much that I decided to make some boyish ones! The image can be found here in the Tiddly Inks store and I've enlarged them to fit a decent sized bookmark and coloured with Promarkers.

I've used a small Nestie as a template to draw around to create the scalloped edge shape and then I've inked the edges, drawn a line with a Cool Grey 3 Promarker and then dotted a line too. A bit of random inking with my very faded (but trusty) tiny black inkpad before laminating the bookmarks.

The twine stuff at the top is actually thick elasticated cord and its kept in place with a dark silver We R Memory Keepers snap.

So there you have it! Hope your Bank Holiday is warmer than it is here - windy, cold and heavy showers - all the better to be indoors and crafting!!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Tiddly Inks: Back to School Bookmark
Allsorts: Back to School
Just Us Girls: Back to School 3d
Totally Papercrafts: Back to School
Dutch Dare Card Challenges: Anything But a Card
Paper Play: Back to School
  • Image: Tiddly Inks, coloured with Promarkers
  • Snap: We R Memory Keepers
  • Dies: Spellbinder Nestabilities as a template

Fetch A Sketch Challenge 5 - Midway Extra

It's time for another Fetch A Sketch Challenge! And we are upto challenge 5 already - where does the time go?

We have a returning sponsor - Funky Hand and Anice once again has been generous with the prize for the winner of challenge 5 and is providing an Our Betty acrylic stamp set and a set of ribbons.

The Our Betty stamps are wonderful to use, and I'm not the best at using stamps (too impatient and for some reason I can never hold it still long enough!) but I've never had a bad stamping session with Our Betty! I've used Your Special Day Our Betty stamp set and coloured her with Promarkers. All the papers are from the Blue Christmas word book download - there are A4 sized papers too which I have used.

I've added some very glittery (I am still wearing it!) ribbon that I bought a few years ago plus Sizzix snowflake die cuts and silver snowflake confetti. Although the photo doesn't show it too well (probably because it wasn't dry!) Betty's dress has also been glittered!

Good luck with the challenge and don't forget the very few rules that we have (see the challenge blog for more details!) of which the most important one is to HAVE FUN! Deadline for entries is Sunday 4 September at 12noon GMT.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Samuel Taylors Crafts: Christmas Card with Any Stamp
4 Crafty Chicks: Photo Inspiration
Fab N Funky: Mono Madness

  • Papers: Blue Christmas download from Funky Hand
  • Image: Our Betty stamp set from Funky Hand
  • Dies: Sizzix Snowflake

Autumn Leaves

Here is the second release from Jellypark this fortnight and what a wonderful vibrant image it is! I've coloured it with Promarkers and have layered it onto papers from the Sugar and Spice 6x6 paper stack from Dovecraft. I was lucky enough to pick up a pack of the glittered chipboard embellishments from The Range at a bargain price of £1.99 (reduced to clear!) last time I was in so I've used two of the flowers and layered them up with foam pads.

I've printed the sentiment from the pc and added some ribbon from my stash plus some faux stitching. The Jellypark store is currently closed but will reopen tomorrow!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Wags N Whiskers: Outdoor Fun
For Your Inspiration: Photo Inspiration
Pollycraft: Autumn Colours

  • Image: Jellypark, coloured with Promarkers
  • Papers: Dovecraft Sugar and Spice 6x6 stack
  • Flower embellishment: Dovecraft Sugar and Spice
  • Ribbon: My stash
  • Sentiment: Computer generated

Glam and Glitz

Here is my final creation as Guest Designer for Squiggle Stamps! The current challenge is Glam and Glitz and I decided to make a doorhanger.

I've used papers from Funky Hand - Craft The Year Away cd and if you are quick, you can get 25% off any Funky Hand branded products until 10pm 29 August - you really don't want to miss out on such a wonderful sale!! I'd be there like a shot, but my collection is full....

I've used Princess Daisy Squiggle Stamp - coloured her with Promarkers and added glitter to the underskirt of her dress, necklace and crown - the photo just does not show it (dammed weather!) Princess Daisy is a special buy at the moment for £1 - so be quick!!

I've used my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet die set to cut the letters and the ribbon is from my stash.

Thank you to Tracy and the Squiggle Design Team for having me as a Guest Designer!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Just Some Lines: Anything But A Card
One Stop Craft: Anything But Square
Charisma Cardz: Glitter It (its there in abundance - just rubbish picture!)

Tea and Cake

Jellypark have released two new digi stamps and one of them is this very cute tea and cake ticket! I've coloured it with Promarkers (plus a little glitter glue!) and made a shaped cupcake card with papers from a digi pack called Little Girl Paper Pack by Echo Park. I bought it on the One Buck Wednesday offer from Jessica Sprague.

I made the casing by randomly folding the paper and gluing it down to the card stock. The topping has been made by drawing round the template a few times and cutting random bits out then adding them with foam pads.

I added the strip across the centre as some of my folding was a bit wonky and then the ribbon holds the ticket in place.

Watch out for the other new release - coming soon to this blog!!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Art Impressions Stamps: Summertime
Crafty Sentiments: Ribbons and Bows
Little Darlings Challenge: Ruffles or Pleats
Truly Scrumptious: Rock Up Pink

Craft Your Days Away: Cupcakes

  • Papers: Echo Park - Little Girl Paper Digi Pack
  • Ticket: Jellypark - coloured with Promarkers and glitter glue
  • Template: Craftwork Cards

It's time for another Jellypark Friends Friday Challenge! We had lots of fantastic entries to our last challenge - thank you - and although I may not yet have a left a comment for you - its all in hand and you'll get one from me very soon!

The challenge this fortnight is:

Get Punchy With Your Die Cuts

So dust out your old abandoned dies and get creating! I've used the wonderfully cute Dino Boy and coloured him with Promakers - you can view the store here but Claire is taking a break for a few so you'll just have to hold your horses to buy!

My papers are from Colour Me Happy by Funky Hand (Merry Berry collection) and I've added a frame die cut and the two die cut dinos from my stash that I bought a long time ago from ebay that I am ashamed to say that I've not used before! I've added shading the the die cut dinos with Promarkers and added wobbly eyes. Snaps are from We R Memory Keepers.

A bit of inking and a doodled line around the edge of the card and it is complete!

Good luck with the challenge - it is open until Thursday 8 September and please limit your entry to two per person. You don't need a Jellypark image to enter, but we'd be very pleased if you did and you'll get an extra entry into the draw.

Gift Cards - Christmas Of Course!

I've got a couple of Craft Fairs in the run up to Christmas and I am trying to have things other than just cards, so here are a few gift cards. All have been made with papers from Funky Hand - Craft The Year Away cd (Remember December collection) plus the stamped image is from an Our Betty stamp set.

I've coloured them with Promarkers and added glitter glue to the lid of the gift. Ribbon is from my stash. I used two Nesties sets to layer the images and I've added a little extra card to write a message to the recipient inside.

Quite quick and easy to make once I'd made a template and worked out all my sizes! And I think I'm going to increase my Christmas Card goal to 150.....

I'd like to enter them into the following challenges:

Using Scraps!

I am slowly working my way through a rather large shoe box that is full of digi paper scraps - some bits are quite large and some are tiny scraps, but all need to be used!

It's been a while since I entered a Pattie's Creation challenge and the current one is:

Animals or Insects

And you know me - as soon as I saw the word animal I knew I had a Christmas related Pattie's Creation image! I don't think this cute reindeer is available at the moment - have a look in the store here, but I've coloured it with Promarkers and added some glitter glue to the scarf and hat and glossy accents to his nose.

Both papers are from the new Christmas cds from Polkadoodles - Magical Winter and I've used a heart punch to create the scalloped edge.

I had just enough of the papers left over to make another but swopped the colours over. The stamps are from a 99p acrylic Studio G stamp set and the elastic 'ribbon' was on a gift box that my Mum got a while ago -waste not, want not! I've followed the Creative Corner sketch for inspiration.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Totally Gorjuss: Cute and Cuddly
  • Papers: Magical Winter cd from Polkadoodles
  • Image: Pattie's Creations, coloured with Promarkers and glitter glue
  • Sentiments: Studio G acrylic stamp set
  • Everything else: My stash

Dude Time Doodles First Birthday - Scavenger Crawl!

Welcome to the first Annual Dudeville Holla Scavenger Crawl! We are celebrating our First Birthday with style!

To begin and to find all the instructions and clues of what to do, please visit the Dude Time Doodles Challenge blog. You need to hop around the team although there is no specific starting point or end point, you just need to make sure that you've visited us all on the way. Leave a comment on each of our posts as some of us have candy on offer!

To celebrate this momentous occasion, I've created a card using Cowpoke Cal and coloured him with Promarkers. All the papers are left over scraps from my bits box and I've used my Nesties for shape and added some card candy plus twine from the kitchen drawer.

If you've arrived at me from Dawn then you are on the right track, although you can hop randomly if you want as long as you've visited us all! From me you need to go to one of our Special Guests - Theresa. We have a number of Special Guest joining us for the occasion!

So, what do you need to do at my blog? Study carefully my Dude card above - make a note of the item you have found (the list is on the Dude Time Doodles Challenge blog) and that you found it at my blog (Ruth). Leave me a comment on this post to let me know that you have passed through (without these words you will not be entered into my blog candy) and then hop to Theresa and do the same - repeat at each blog until you have visited us all! Go back to the Challenge Blog where you will find all the details on how to submit your answers.

The closing date for the Scavenger Crawl is 5 September with the winner announced on the Challenge Blog on 6 September. The Scavenger Crawl prize is a $20 Gift Certificate to the store and with a half price sale on Halloween images from 1 September you can get a lot more for your dollar!

I am offering this set of Papermania Boutique acrylic clear stamps plus an assortment of ribbons (not pictured!) to the randomly drawn winner from all the comments on this post before my deadline and I'll post anywhere in the world.

My blog candy will end at 10pm Monday 5 September and I will draw the winner during that week.

Good luck!!

Bee-lated

Sometimes I see a sketch and it catches my eye but I don't know what to do with it. I then have a think. Sometimes for a few days. And then inspiration strikes! Twice!
These cards are for the Willow Sketchie challenge which is a sketch:

Plus a recipe of: Sparkle / Shimmer, Floral and Yellow

I'd say I've covered all the requirements! I've used papers from my box of oddments so I couldn't tell you where they were from except that they are digital. The stamp is from the now no longer Digi Sparkle and I've coloured him with Promarkers, added some stickles to the wings and also around the edge of the image.

The flowers I found in my stash and I've added black card candy to the centre. I've used my Nesties dies to draw around for the shapes as square would not have looked right, plus more card candy and ribbon from my stash.

I've inked the edges and added a faux stitch around the main backing paper to stop everything 'falling off the edge'.

I am useless at remembering Birthdays. Actually, I remember them about a week before and then forget so my cards are always late! So these will come in handy!

I'd also like to enter the following challenges:

Craft Your Passion: Funny Sentiment
Hooked On Crafts: Things With Wings
One Stitch At A Time: Bling It Up
Sentimental Sundays: Birthday
  • Papers: From my stash and don't know originator
  • Image: Digi Sparkle, coloured with Promarkers and stickles

Fetch A Sketch Challenge 5

It's time for another Fetch A Sketch Challenge! And we are upto challenge 5 already - where does the time go?

We have a returning sponsor - Funky Hand and Anice once again has been generous with the prize for the winner of challenge 5 and is offering a set of Our Betty clear acrylic stamps and a set of April Fool ribbons.

My card for this challenge has been made with papers and extras from Funky Hand and the Shabby Saturday download. I've printed the papers as A5 in size as I wanted a small pattern, used a good old fashioned compass for the circles and cut out a number of the flowers (A5 size - 2 to a sheet of A4 and A6 - 4 to a sheet of A4) and layered them up. I've curled the edges slightly before gluing and then added some gems from my stash to the centres.

The brads are really printed circles also from the download and I've added acrylic dome clear sticker things that I knew I would need one day! So nice and easy brads that perfectly match the papers! The sentiment is from a magazine freebie about 3 years ago and I've added a doodled flourish to the side.

So over to you now! Good luck with the challenge and don't forget the very few rules that we have (see the challenge blog for more details!) of which the most important one is to HAVE FUN! Deadline for entries is Sunday 4 September at 12noon GMT.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Crazy 4 Challenges: Bingo (Brads, Flowers and 2 or more Designer Papers)
Card Makin' Mama's: Pink
Do You Stack Up?: Thank You
Creative Card Crew: Handmade Flowers
Top Tip Tuesday: Thank You

  • Papers and extras: Shabby Saturday download from Funky Hand
  • Sentiment: Magazine freebie stamp
  • Everything else: My stash

Sorry - Yet More Christmas!

I know I'm probably over burdening you with all my Christmas cards, but it is such a good feeling getting them all made! Less than 15 to go to my target of 100! And I bet I end up adding to my target, so don't be surprised if it shoots up to 150 - there are still a number of months left to mid November!!

These were made using a digi stamp set that I bought from Tiddly Inks especially for the current challenge which is:

Inch My Way Along (Mini Cards)

I printed the 4 designs as the block digi so that I could make 4 cards from a sheet of A4 card. So they are approx 75cm wide and 125cm tall. I've coloured them all with Promarkers and followed the current Sketch and Stash challenge too.

You can see the strips of glitter glue as per the sketch (pretty pleased with how straight these are despite a few glasses of vino!) and I've attempted to co-ordinate the ribbon with the picture colours. I should have done it the other way around!

The images have been added with foam pads underneath so they stand proud a little. Oh, and I've doodled a black line around the edge of the card. I really do like these and I get asked for quite a few titchy cards in the run up to Christmas so I think I'll be making more of these!

I'd also like to enter the following challenges:

Christmas Card Challenges: Glitter
Challenge Up Your Life: No Patterned Paper
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge: Anything Goes option
Bah Humbug: Something New (digi images and glitter glue in a straight line after wine!)

  • Image: Tiddly Inks, coloured with Promarkers
  • Everything else: My stash

Ruby Wedding Anniversary

My Mum asked me to make a Ruby Wedding Anniversary card at quite short notice (48 hours) and for it to be flat to post - I just knew the perfect sketch to use! It's the August Kathy's Waffle Sketch File sketch that I've used. I know I've not quite added the same number of flowers, due to the fact that I didn't have enough of the tiny red flowers and I'd made the card a little too small for it to work!

It was actually the second card base that I cut as the first one was too big. I put it down to it being a Friday when I made it!

I've printed the sentiment from the pc and taken it from The Clip Art Fairy - one of the Ruby Anniversary Easel cards - the font was perfect for what I needed. All the flowers are from my stash along with the ribbon - just enough to make the two bows (one looked lonely!) and the gems.

The scalloped edge is made by punching hearts from the same red card and then positioning them correctly. The slight overlap is hidden by the flowers. Dotted liquid pearls to finish (you should have guessed!) plus some black inking here and there and my Mum thought the card was lovely. Good job!

I'd also like to enter the following challenges:

Mami Doodles: Shaped Card
Crafty Purple Frog: Red Hot
Southern Girls: Black and White with a Pop of Colour (black is muted!)
Little Claire's Designs: Wedding / Wedding Anniversary
  • Sentiment: The Clip Art Fairy
  • Everything else: My stash

More Christmas!

Five more Christmas cards to be precise! See how my target of 100 is rushing towards me?! All five of these cards have been made with Penny Black Christmas stamps and have been coloured with Aquamarkers. I've inked around the edges of each image with a very worn but trusty blue inkpad.

I've embossed panels with either a Cuttlebug snowflake folder or Swiss Dots plus added either red raffia,
or Tempting Turquoise ribbon from Stampin' Up

or even some red ric rac from my stash. I've used a Spellbinder Nestabilities die to cut all the stamped images out with exception to the first card as I just used it as a template to draw around.
A few snowflake confetti shapes, glittering with stickles and a bit of faux stitching and the cards are complete!

The cards fit the following challenges:

Christmas Cards All Year Round: Make 5 Christmas cards and choose at least 4 ingredients from list - mine are: Stitching, Ribbon, Inking, Stamping and Texture
Desert Island Crafters: Choose minimum of 3 items from list - mine are: Dry Embossing, Ruffles, Stitching
Charisma Cardz: Negative Space (third card from top fits this best!)
CAS-ual Friday's: Clean and Simple and Embossing

  • Images: Penny Black, coloured with Aquamarkers
  • Embossing: Cuttlebug
  • Dies: Spellbinder Nestabilities
  • Ribbon: Turquoise - Stampin' Up, everything else my stash

Polkadoodle Challenge 33 - Single Layer

It's time for another Polkadoodle challenge! This week I am the hostess and the challenge is:

Single Layer cards

And minimal embellishments! I think the Design Team are cursing me! I've printed directly onto my cardstock with one of the topper images from the Magical Winter cd and simply added some glitter glue around the edge of the image and also on the sign.

So simple that I made four cards! I got two cards from a sheet of A4 and a little bit of trimming. I'm tempted to do the same thing for some of the other toppers that are on the cd's!

Good luck with the challenge - deadline is Sunday 28 August at 12noon GMT.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments: No Sentiment
LawnScaping Challenge: Single Layer Cards
Christmas Inspirations: Clean and Simple
  • Image: Magical Winter cd bundle from Polkadoodles

Pink, Sparkly and Dancing

You wouldn't believe me when I say that this card has taken me almost two weeks to make! I've made it for the Wags n Whiskers challenge which is:

Sparkly

I'd won some Wags n Whiskers images in a challenge recently and they are a dream to colour, so I decided to use this ballerina image, coloured her with Promarkers and cut her out. Then I got sidetracked with other things.

I then saw the Sweet Sketch Wednesday sketch and it fitted perfectly, so here it is - finished!

I've used some pink pearlescent paper that I've had for ages along with some angel hair from Lynsey (thank you!) I did try to cut it with my Nesties but it wouldn't for some reason, and then I've layered some pink handmade paper (found hiding with the pearlesecent paper!) onto the top. Then added the image on foam pads.

Glitter stickles have been added for extra sparkle plus some ribbon from Funky Hand (April Fool) and a large gem from my stash.

My card also fits the following challenges:

Rainbow Lady's Challenge: Song of Choice (Tiny Dancer by Elton John)
Clear It Out: Glitter
Glitter Fairies: Pretty In Pink

  • Image: Wags n Whiskers, coloured with Promarkers
  • Papers: From my stash, or donation
  • Ribbon: Funky Hand
  • Dies: Spellbinder Nestabilities

Too Cool For School!

This is one of my favourite Tiddly Ink images and I've made Geekatude large! The card is approx 15cm square and I've used a retired freebie image of the blackboard as my background, also from Tiddly Inks.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers and I've added him to the card base with foam pads so he stands out a little.

I actually have a confession to make - I had to add a strip of card to the top of the base so it formed a square otherwise the thinner card that I'd printed the blackboard on would flop around - not a good look eh?! Serves me right for not thinking straight before I cut!

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Creative Inspirations: Back To School
Cupcake Inspirations: Photo Inspiration (red apple on the pc and his shoes as well as overall theme)
My Sheri Crafts: Back To School
Dutch Dare Card Challenges: Back To School

  • Both images: Tiddly Inks, boy coloured with Promarkers

Dude Time Doodles Challenge 20 - Photo Inspiration & Sporty

It's the third Wednesday of the month (where does the time go??!) and so its the colour theme challenge for Dude Time Doodles! This week we also want to see you make it not only for a dude (young or old!) but also to have a sporty theme. All the rules and how to enter can be found on the challenge blog.

I've used Rocco Soccer as my image and his ball ('scuse the pun!) which was a freebie offered last month and now is available to buy in the store - snooze and you loose! He's been coloured with Promarkers and in the new season Manchester United football strip as I've been asked to make a 50th Birthday card for a bloke called Trev who is mad about Man Utd!

Rocco boings around on a spring although his football is well and truly attached to the card. Football pitch is from Funky Hand - Craft The Year Away cd and I've enlarged it to fit on an A5 sized card, and also printed it with one of the papers from the same cd. I've added a slightly darker line with a Promarker around the edge, printed the sentiment using the word elements, also from the same cd and the star button (I snipped the shank off) is from my stash.

Good luck with the challenge!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Cards For Men: Anything Goes
Sparkles Forum Challenges: One For The Boys
If The Shoe Fits: Green

  • Image: Dude Time Doodles, coloured with Promarkers
  • All Other Printed elements: Craft The Year Away cd from Funky Hand
  • Star: My stash

Choo Choo!!

I've never made one of these cards before - it is a complete kit and from Paper Creator. I won a challenge recently and could spend £3 which might not sound a lot, but it bought me two kits!! Its an easel plateau card and is really easy to make including adding the decoupage elements.

The train and carriage slots into two slits made on the base and the back bit is the easel. Its really very 3d and it also comes with its own envelope to make!

I've made it for a little boy who has just turned one and Jacob picked the template!

I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:

Unstampabelles: Wheels
Creative Craft World: For A Child
The Craft Garden: Bold, Bright and Loud (colour picture inspiration)
Fuzzy Wuzzy: Animals and Shaped Cards
